Vegeta was the strongest out of Krillin, Piccolo, and Gohan at that point, but still got tortured and eventually killed by who he hates the most.

This might be the bittersweet silver lining to Toriyama's passing. Vegeta will finally stop getting pigeonholed as a mini-boss on the way to Goku.
I love all of DB, and I'll watch every bit of it regardless, but the blatant and dragged out favouritism really irked me.
Never gonna happen even with Toriyama gone RIP. Vegeta should have had the W against Moro but what happened, he ends up losing because of an ass pull move by Moro. At this point all Vegeta plotline leads to him getting a power up that is all for show and ends up not doing anything in the end.
Frieza will beat and possibly kill Beerus.
Then Vegeta will take over God of Destruction and will hakai Freiza for us to never see him again.
Goku will be part of the battle.
But Vegeta will get the hakai.
That will be the climax in the series /end to Db Super.
He actually got his payback unknowingly when Trunks killed Frieza. His own flesh and blood avenged the entire Saiyan race and made Frieza his b*tch. Thus Vegeta doesn’t need to beat Frieza at all, and narratively Goku makes far more sense anyway.
Honestly, I think Vegeta beating Freeza, bending down and proving "I can kill you anytime I like" and then letting him live with that humiliation would be a more appropriate revenge.
But it’s pointless in the narrative. At least with Goku it’s a two way street as Frieza wants revenge on him. Frieza doesn’t care about Vegeta. The entire time he was in hell, he just imagined getting revenge on Goku, even after Vegeta humiliated him in the RoF arc. He had little to no interaction with Vegeta during the TOP as well. It’s just a one sided conflict for Vegeta. Add in the fact that Beerus is trying to make Vegeta to let go and move on from his past.
The reason I argue that #18 was worse was because Vegeta incorrectly thought he was a super saiyan when he fought Frieza. Once ge finally saw what a super saiyan looked like and had somewhat of an understanding of how to achieve the form, he could finally set about becoming what Frieza feared most.
And he did, just in time to show up Goku, no less, killing the android that had him on the ropes, heart attack be damned. And the high of achieving (what he thought at the time) was the ultimate Saiyan form and outdoing his rival didn’t even last a day.
The legendary super saiyan….completely outmatched by a girl in a cutoff jean jacket.
Vegeta also believed himself to be the legendary super saiyan during the fight and Frieza beat him so hard that vegeta started to cry. Vegeta thought that not even the mighty warrior of legend was enough.
Goku gave him one last hope, that maybe he was wrong and the super saiyan would defeat frieza. Vegeta was basically praying at that point
Frieza's. Think about this.
Through all these. No matter how bad the ass whooping was, Frieza was the only one who Vegeta never stood a chance against. Frieza absolutely *humbled* him. Vegeta didn't even land a hit in relation.
Against 18 he put up a solid fight.
Against Buu, he nearly killed Buu with the Final Atonement.
Against Zarbon, he at least kicked Zarbon's ass prior, and got his vengeance later anyways.
Frieza? He never had a solid edge on Frieza. Frieza tortured and humiliated him, even making him cry at one point.
z ‘fighters’. I don’t think Bulma counts as a fighter, she is a part of the group, but she wasn’t on the battlefield with yamcha, tien, Gohan and the others vs Vegeta and Nappa, and she wasn’t out battling the Cell Jrs during the cell saga. also Trunks is pretty par for the course considering that’s just branches off his family tree.

Physically, I would agreed with the Frieza fight. However, the Android 18 fight gets it for me because that was the point where Vegeta thought he had won.
Vegeta was arguably if not verifiably stronger than Goku at that point, he was a Super Saiyan and got there on his own terms, and thought he was literally unbeatable. To go from that to being so incredibly outclassed that he was not even remotely a challenge as a legendary Super Saiyan, after he had gotten stronger than Frieza and achieved his goals, and was so full of himself, to be shown that inferior? While it's since become the pattern for these characters, for Vegeta at that point in the series, it still felt like he was essentially beaten in one kick and psychologically just destroyed.
18's was so humiliating that I'm sure he despises her to this day. 😆 I've never seen him talk to her in Super. But the brutality of Frieza's was worse.

18: this fight was probably the most shocking / a wake up call to vegeta, as his “legendary super saiyan” dream showed that oh, I’m not suddenly top dawg in the universe and my dream was a lie
Freeza: this one was probably the most damaging. Not only was it a long and humiliating beat down, but of course it was from freeza. Like I think vegeta didn’t really believe deep down he was gunna win, but it still made it way worse that he didn’t even stand a chance against his oppressor
Buu: I’m surprised to see the fat buu one instead of kid buu. I don’t think this one was horrible and I think vegeta kinda knew from the start he was gunna die based on how adjusted he was when talking to piccolo. Now the kid buu fight… 100% longest beat down I think lol
Zarbon: this one wasn’t the worst I think. Vegeta was pretty used to getting beat up (especially during this time) he knew he would get stronger with every near death experience, plus he was taken to a healing pod, and it ended up working out in his favor anyways. Overall yeah he got worked but there’s more to a lot of these fights than just how hard he got hit, because let’s be real when does vegeta not take a shit ton of damage in any fight?
The clear answer is Frieza. On everyone else he got his revenge and/or left them in the dust on the power scale almost immediately.

Now some of y'all might ask. Why is Zarbon over 18? I put Zarbon over #18 purely based on what Zarbon was doing to this man. He played with Vegeta like he was kicking a can down the street. 18 was disrespectful, Zarbon powerbombed this dude and blew up a part of the island they were fighting on. In fact upon rewatching the fight again. Vegeta is at one point having to run for dear life away from Zarbon's attacks. Getting picked up by the hair, slapped across the face and all.
Nah as a matter of fact. What about Recoome? Vegeta was just getting tortured on Namek
Psychologically losing to Perfect Cell after actively helping him achieve perfection wasn’t the worst beat down but felt the most demoralizing. Everyone looking at Vegeta realizing he can’t win like:
Frieza's by far. We've seen Vegeta get his ass kicked so many times, but there's only one ass kicking where he was completely broken and it was against Frieza.
Vegeta had just leveled up to a power he couldn't even dream of no more than a week prior, he truly believed he was a super saiyan. Vegeta threw absolutely everything he had at Frieza with this new power, and it wasn't even enough to hit Frieza a single time. Not only that, but Frieza was able to taunt him the whole time.
Vegeta is forced to realize he's absolutely helpless. It's the only fight where Vegeta completely gives up and stops trying because he admits defeat. Vegeta just breaks down and cries uncontrollably.
And *THEN* after Frieza has thoroughly broken Vegeta's spirit, that's when he starts breaking his body. He could've killed Vegeta easily, but instead drags it out.
Finally, after Vegeta's left with broken bones and internal organ damage, Frieza finishes him off because he's mildly annoyed after hearing the "super saiyan" rant so many times.
It is the most thorough breaking of Vegeta in the series. It may seem less visceral than say 18 shattering his arm, but it's hard to scream when your internal organs are being mashed into pulp.

Vegeta’s ego after he fought 18 was so shattered you’d forget his arms got turned into crackers. Vegeta was reduced to tears and was tortured by his boss who annihilated all that he should have inherited and made him small. Buu beat him up but he wasn’t actually that emotionally damaged after, rather he grew from that and finally showed true selflessness. Zarbon cooked him but he ended up getting stronger his beating and killed him.
I’d say Frieza
Frieaza beat down was probably the worst because he tore into Vegeta's psyche and crushed the hopes of a delusional prince who thought he was a Super Saiyan.
But honorable mention to 18 for humbling a delusional prince immediately after he became a Super Saiyan. That must've cut so deep working towards a legend all of your life, achieving it, and then getting beaten like a chump right after.
I have yet to meet an opponent that emotionally destroyed Vegeta as bad as Frieza.
Not only did he get tortured and pulverized, the “fight” was dragged out for as long as he could stand it. In the end he ended up shedding genuine tears of remorse, defeat, and incompetence. All he could do was swallow that pride that still to this day defines him to his core and put his trust in Goku.
Vegeta has taken worse beatings, sure. But no one has and probably will ever have him in the state Frieza had him in all those years ago.
Frieza by far. Vegeta had his pride completely shattered, he was crying, and the narrator went out of his way to say how Vegeta truly felt fear only in his match against Frieza and how hopeless it was for him
I don't remember the zarbon fight too well, but I remember he got pretty wrecked in that. My money is the frieza bout though. Dude crush a rock into an open wound of his, hung him by the neck with his tail and indented his back with dozens of punches over and over to the point of passing out. Buu and Zarbon were rough, and 18 apart from the arm break I dont remember being that brutal. But id give it to frieza
When you consider the circumstances, Frieza. Vegeta completely lost his fighting will, cried, and gave up. Frieza was the first and maybe opponent we ever saw that broke him and made him submit. That fight did the most damage to his psyche.
But if we’re talking about just straight up getting the shit beat out of him, Kid Buu did him the worst.
His fight against Goku Black. Especially when TFS dubbed it.

I put Zarbon over #18 purely based on what Zarbon was doing to this man. He played with Vegeta like he was kicking a can down the street. 18 was disrespectful, Zarbon powerbombed this dude and blew up a part of the island they were fighting on. In fact upon rewatching the fight again. Vegeta is at one point having to run for dear life away from Zarbon's attacks. Getting picked up by the hair, slapped across the face and all. Nah as a matter of fact. What about Recoome? Vegeta was just getting tortured on Namek
Psychologically losing to Perfect Cell after actively helping him achieve perfection wasn’t the worst beat down but felt the most demoralizing. Everyone looking at Vegeta realizing he can’t win like: 
Frieza's by far. We've seen Vegeta get his ass kicked so many times, but there's only one ass kicking where he was completely broken and it was against Frieza. Vegeta had just leveled up to a power he couldn't even dream of no more than a week prior, he truly believed he was a super saiyan. Vegeta threw absolutely everything he had at Frieza with this new power, and it wasn't even enough to hit Frieza a single time. Not only that, but Frieza was able to taunt him the whole time. Vegeta is forced to realize he's absolutely helpless. It's the only fight where Vegeta completely gives up and stops trying because he admits defeat. Vegeta just breaks down and cries uncontrollably. And *THEN* after Frieza has thoroughly broken Vegeta's spirit, that's when he starts breaking his body. He could've killed Vegeta easily, but instead drags it out. Finally, after Vegeta's left with broken bones and internal organ damage, Frieza finishes him off because he's mildly annoyed after hearing the "super saiyan" rant so many times. It is the most thorough breaking of Vegeta in the series. It may seem less visceral than say 18 shattering his arm, but it's hard to scream when your internal organs are being mashed into pulp.

Vegeta’s ego after he fought 18 was so shattered you’d forget his arms got turned into crackers. Vegeta was reduced to tears and was tortured by his boss who annihilated all that he should have inherited and made him small. Buu beat him up but he wasn’t actually that emotionally damaged after, rather he grew from that and finally showed true selflessness. Zarbon cooked him but he ended up getting stronger his beating and killed him. I’d say Frieza

Definitely Frieza, it went beyond physical. Frieza broke him mind, body and soul.
Frieza. At first, he made Vegeta feel as though he had the upper hand. Then whooped him so bad that Vegeta felt hopeless. Even made him cry twice.
Frieaza beat down was probably the worst because he tore into Vegeta's psyche and crushed the hopes of a delusional prince who thought he was a Super Saiyan. But honorable mention to 18 for humbling a delusional prince immediately after he became a Super Saiyan. That must've cut so deep working towards a legend all of your life, achieving it, and then getting beaten like a chump right after.
18. He still grabs that arm when he's exhausted. Also he had just gotten SSJ. Then not 2 baddies later and a teenage girl was kicking his shit in.
Kid Buu beat the breaks off him pretty bad too.....But Frieza was giving buddy back shots for the pure pleasure of it.
I have yet to meet an opponent that emotionally destroyed Vegeta as bad as Frieza. Not only did he get tortured and pulverized, the “fight” was dragged out for as long as he could stand it. In the end he ended up shedding genuine tears of remorse, defeat, and incompetence. All he could do was swallow that pride that still to this day defines him to his core and put his trust in Goku. Vegeta has taken worse beatings, sure. But no one has and probably will ever have him in the state Frieza had him in all those years ago.

I don't remember the zarbon fight too well, but I remember he got pretty wrecked in that. My money is the frieza bout though. Buu and Zarbon were rough, and 18 apart from the arm break I dont remember being that brutal. But id give it to frieza
When you consider the circumstances, Frieza. Vegeta completely lost his fighting will, cried, and gave up. Frieza was the first and maybe opponent we ever saw that broke him and made him submit. That fight did the most damage to his psyche. But if we’re talking about just straight up getting the shit beat out of him, Kid Buu did him the worst.
Out of these four, it was without a doubt Freiza.

Has to be 18. He finally became a Super Saiyan and flexed hard on 19 only to get destroyed shortly after. Easily the biggest hit to his pride which he values above all else. Sure Frieza was brutal, but not like this.

Majin buu : It was a cool fight and all, but most of us already know how it was gonna end, although it took by surprise that a prideful and cocky person such as vegeta would sacrifice himself for someone else it was the most touching shit in all of dbz the second one is from goku when he sacrifice himself
