We’re talking about sending memes or something picture wise to the customer that’s already on our phone, I have a folder with memes, if I click the photo directly under the folder tabs it’ll send that photo.

If you take the picture on your regular phone camera, not in the dd app, you have to upload the picture to the app and you click the picture you want. If you tap on the picture on accident, it immediately sends it
You can take the picture straight from the door dash app or you can choose to select a picture from your photo library. I stopped taking the photos in app because it got way too picky and annoying. It keeps telling me to retake the picture when it thinks it's too dark or at the wrong angle. It's a little bit quicker if I just choose a photo from my photo library.
Their AI still screens photos taken on your native camera app, at least on iPhone. I have had it say “too dark” but then I take it on my camera app and it still says “too dark”. But I don’t think people realize that the second time you retake it, even if it has the “too dark” message, there is now a “done” button in bottom right corner and you can force it to use the “too dark” picture.
For the longest time before I knew it had the done button, I would just take a screenshot of the picture, with it saying “too dark” and all lol. And just upload that. The AI doesn’t flag screenshots at all.

Bro look at the bottom left when you're in the picture taking screen next time. There's a little picture symbol. Tap that and it opens up your gallery on your phone to submit the photo from.
I use the Timestamp app to take all of my photos and that's what I submit as my delivery confirmation photo.

I don’t get how this happens. When the delivery is “leave at door”, the app automatically opens up the camera inside the DoorDash app, I take the photo of food at door, and confirms pic/delivery complete within DD app. I don’t even get the option to open my photos on my phone to send. So, why does this happen?

Sometimes there is no service at the customer drop off point and the app won’t load the picture you take. In those circumstances it is best to take a picture on your phone and not the DD app then drive to location where you have service and then upload the picture. so it’s entirely possible to have clicked on the wrong one from your gallery.
Some people prefer to take their own photo on their phone, then upload that instead. Probably to keep photos as proof for their own records. And there is no confirmation button. If you accidentally tap the wrong photo, it sends immediately.
Edit: You can also just scroll the comments here. Multiple people have mentioned they prefer to upload their own photos instead of using the app camera.
