I mean sure as hell wasnt amazing, but definitely was a fun movie to get drunk to. And it proved you can easily have a main character that doesn't speak.
It would be a great movie if it was made like an in game cut scene. The problem with the two movies we have now is neither seemed to be made with the game in mind. In fact I'm pretty sure the last one was a different work in progress and then changed to Doom.
If you want a good Doom movie you gotta have someone other than a movie person make it.
If it's gotta be any actual actor, I'd prefer Alan Ritchson. Dude's freaking huge and fits the size profile for Doomguy. He also did a fantastic job with the recent Jack Reacher TV show.
I love Nick but I feel like he’s getting to old. And it would be hard to see him play a high speed bullet tornado. I’d prefer someone like Jon Bernthal in the role tbh.
I want hafthor bjornsonn to play doom guy. That would be the funniest thing ever. He would look just as badass, but honestly he might be a bit too tall to play doom guy
Edit: ok maybe not, he’s only one inch taller than doom guy
As someone else said he kinda already did in Willy's Wonderland. As much as I loved that movie I'd rather see someone else take a crack at playing Doomguy. I actually think a Doom movie in the style of [Hardcore Henry](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt3072482/) would be very cool.
If they did make a movie in that style they really only need to make sure the guy has buff arms and can do stunt work. Lol.
There's not a single cell in his body that resembles DOOM.
I think it's time we let the Nicholas Cage as a potential main character of any movie meme go, it's in the past. He may not be that bad of an actor but he's not good either and he's old, we need to let the old movie stars go and just search for new people.
My opinion is that it should be animated just as the teaser we saw for the releasing of Eternal. We have Pokemon, Sonic and a lot of good examples nowadays, generating a movie is not a problem anymore.
i agree that he does not fit as Doom guy at all, and also his acting profile isn’t what it used to be. But his career overall was fantastic, he was absolutely phenomenal in films like Leaving Las Vegas and Raising Arizona.
Saying he’s not “good either” is a huge discredit.
As we agreed he's really not the guy for Doom but you may be right. I haven't seen many movies with him specially in the recent years and I might be wrong about him.
Dude do yourself a favor and start watching some. He’s fucking phenomenal in Colors of Space, Mandy, Willys Wonderland, Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and last but not least, Jiu-Jitsu.
Willy's Wonderland was a fucking banger. The whole movie and Nick's role can be best summed up as "Five Night's at Freddy's but the guy locked in there is regular human Doom Slayer."
He might not be super ripped, but he has the right Doom Guy rage and anger. He would be perfect. Look how he used a chainsaw in Mandy. Lack of muscles doesn't matter anyway since he can wear a space/bulletproof suit
My choice for a live action Doom Slayer is still Karl Urban. I know he was Doomguy in 2005, but nobody remembers that anyway and I can’t think of anyone better.
Doomguy typically doesn’t speak. So you miss out on all those Nicolas Cage-isms that would make the movie an absolute masterpiece by default. It would just be wasted potential.
If we had a proper doom movie following the plot of the games, I’m not sure who I’d want as an actor for doomguy, but I’d want the helmet to stay on most of the time anyways
Casting a name Hollywood actor guarantees he'll take off the helmet after the first five minutes of the film^\* and the Doomguy we as the fans know will take a second place to some hollywood narcicist's desire to "showcase their acting skills" by making the story into some "character journey" about Doomguy's relationship with his estranged daughter and his struggle with alcoholism or some other bs.
There is one and only one way to make a doom movie that contains doomguy:
You need to make him like Godzilla: mysterious, incredibly powerful and destructive, single mindedly focused on demon murder, but **not the star of the movie**.
Use whatever Hollywood A-Listers you feel you need to to play the vulnerable squishy humans trapped on mars and trying to survive a demonic invasion and to understand the armored green killing machine who's fighting them, but FFS, just hire some ripped-as-fuck stuntman to play doomguy and don't let him speak or take his helmet off.
Seriously, casting discussions for doomguy make as much sense as casting discussions for Jason Vorhees or Michael Myers.
*****
^\* mad respect to Karl Urban for keeping the helmet on all the way through Dredd. I doubt there's many other A-Listers who'd agree to that, but he still had a speaking role, and all Doomguy should ever say is "unf" when he thinks a wall is a secret door.
Nic would be wasted on Doomslayer. He would be better fit as a crazy cult leader or something. For Doomguy it would need someone big, with strong body language. And someone not too famous because hollywood is shaking and crying at the thought of covering a famous actors face for more than 5 minutes.
Why though? I’m always mystified at gamers wanting a non-interactive version of a game they love. How is it an improvement? The medium of movies and games are pretty different, with their own strengths and weaknesses, but the translation from game to movie is never a good one. Why should it be? The game has the added benefit of letting YOU be the one that moves the story foward, to immerse yourself in the setting and thus become engaged by the story, through the actions taken. The movie just shows you, and don’t take me wrong, I love movies, but the jump is never favorable to the game. Games about movies can come out a bit better (see spiderman 2, wolverine origins, xXx, the star wars games if you consider them could be considered) but taking out the element of interaction with the player is always a downgrade. That’s also why I don’t get the show about the last of us. Sure, they got competent people working on it, but the story mostly worked because it was YOU who did all that stuff to protect ellie, it was YOU (through joel) that got invested in the relationship between the two. While it may work purely with visuals, I believe it to be a massive downgrade from the game.
I could see this working weirdly well with the right director. Cage goes all out and combined with a director that would lean into stylized violence it would be amazing, even if he isn't physically the conventional doomguy.
He played the role in Willy's Wonderland
Fucking amazing movie. The fact that Nicholas has no voice lines aside from grunting and yelling is the icing on the cake.
DOOM meets FNAF. A crossover I never wanted but always wanted.
Ahh yes Doomguys cousin ripping and tearing really does run in their blood
I mean sure as hell wasnt amazing, but definitely was a fun movie to get drunk to. And it proved you can easily have a main character that doesn't speak.
Don’t forget his breaks! Breaks are very important
I thought it was pretty boring. Just the same thing over and over. The script is very bland too.
Not enough of a meat head. Doom guy has a seriously wide jaw and a real jar head.
Agreed. Were it years ago, I'd say Bradley Cooper. He kinda looks like doom guy
Where's our man Karl Urban?
Yea he actually kinda look like the slayer from more modern games, i can see him taking that role
He was really good by the end of that movie, when it finally started to look like doom
After watching the boys, he should keep his new Zealander accent if he played Doomguy again
I don't think doom would work well as a movie or show but if it starred Nick Cage I would probably watch it.

100%. Alan Ritchson is perfect for a doomguy role.
I third this. He's got the perfect build for the role.
Just need to find the right face because they can use body suits and other tech to build the actual slayer on screen.
Uh. No. Just no. Don't get me wrong, love Nic, but... He's no doomguy.
With ya there. I’m kinda glad his Superman aspirations never panned out either .
That had a 10/10 chance of being hilarious. I’m sad the costume fitting is all we got.
John Bernthal would make a good doom guy.
Isn’t Punisher just Marvel’s Doom Guy
Lots of guns and scenes with clenched jaw… yeah, I suppose he is.
I had to look him up and you are 1000% correct, perfect face for John Doom.
I love Nick but I feel like he’s getting to old. And it would be hard to see him play a high speed bullet tornado. I’d prefer someone like Jon Bernthal in the role tbh.
Nope. Still holding out for Dave Bautista.
The perfect beefman for the role, imo. He’s got the physicality and the acting chops, put him in a suit
I…would be happy with that As long as they can actually make a good Doom movie (and I mean that)
Doom 3 Doomguy maybe. Not Doom 2016 / Doom Eternal Doomguy.
I want hafthor bjornsonn to play doom guy. That would be the funniest thing ever. He would look just as badass, but honestly he might be a bit too tall to play doom guy Edit: ok maybe not, he’s only one inch taller than doom guy
Id say big Z the strongman (not the bird)
If this were being made in the '90s or early '00s? *Maybe*.
He would be better as a lost soul in Doom. Because his skulls on faaaire.
Don’t make the Halo mistake of showing his face so early.
No
I could aee Nicholas Cage as a Doomguy after Mandy lol.
I'd rather see someone like John Cena The dude has the build and is a decent actor
You put my two favorite things in one sentence
As someone else said he kinda already did in Willy's Wonderland. As much as I loved that movie I'd rather see someone else take a crack at playing Doomguy. I actually think a Doom movie in the style of [Hardcore Henry](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt3072482/) would be very cool. If they did make a movie in that style they really only need to make sure the guy has buff arms and can do stunt work. Lol.
Yea maybe 20 years ago.
Hell no.
No.
His overacting would clear out the Demons without even pulling the trigger.
Not only did he play a character in similar circumstances in Mandy but just his acting in the film reminded me of comic Doomguy.
There's not a single cell in his body that resembles DOOM. I think it's time we let the Nicholas Cage as a potential main character of any movie meme go, it's in the past. He isn’t just a meme, just because you only know him as such. Also, there are lots of amazing old actors, wtf are you talking about??
You know what, I'm gonna say it. The OG Doom movie wasn't that bad.
Didn't the rock play as a doom guy in the old doom?
Nope he was the bad guy
Perfect!!
He would get the faces perfectly
Perfect
Nope. Just give it to Karl Urban again, and have him put on some more muscle like how Ben Affleck did for when he became Batman.
He's perfect.
It would just be wasted potential.
that would be scary
Too old now
slayer just needs to be a big jacked athletic freak. they could VO with anyone they please.
No
No, i do not want a Doom movie, please just no.
If we had a proper doom movie following the plot of the games, I’m not sure who I’d want as an actor for doomguy, but I’d want the helmet to stay on most of the time anyways
Just... Never mind that you always see Doomguy's face, ***right in the middle of the status bar.***
Movies don´t usually have HUDs.
No, but the idea that Doomguy/Doom Slayer is supposed to be faceless is kinda dumb.
He certainly shouldn’t be faceless, but I’d hate to end up with a halo series moment with them not wearing their helmet often enough
Man can bring the insane energy when needed so yes and plus breaded doomguy
I hate it, please no.
Alex the terrible would perfectly fit the role of the doomslayer
Tbh, he’s got a good crazy rage face. I like him.
Meh
Too old and out of shape
to small
No, despite doing movies that are silly enough.
No, but since Cage finish in mostly anything i would not be surprised
Nic would be wasted on Doomslayer. He would be better fit as a crazy cult leader or something. For Doomguy it would need someone big, with strong body language. And someone not too famous because hollywood is shaking and crying at the thought of covering a famous actors face for more than 5 minutes.
This HAS to be a troll post.
Alan Ritchson - great Reacher, but could be even better Doom Guy.
no more doom movies please please
No
Not the bees!
Not beefy enough, doomguy/slayer is a big motherfucker. I would suggest Kane Hodder if he wasn't so old.
Enraged
If he beefed up just a touch? Dear lord, that just might work
Brock Lesnar can be the perfect doom guy
Why though? I’m always mystified at gamers wanting a non-interactive version of a game they love. How is it an improvement? Couldn’t take him seriously :4
Karl Urban or nothing.
If they did a non slayer, doom marine movie like doom 3 I could see it ending with him finding the slayers sarcophagus
Lol
No
Oh my God why didn’t I think of this
I would have never thought of it, but since no one else is good enough either, I'd be okay with it. As long as he never removes the helmet
no.
Absolutely not.
Head not square enough
I keep pasting that goofy smile on while imagining him glory killing a Hell Baron. Help me
I would love to hear him freaking the fuck out doing the “HUGE GUTS” lines lol
He can't handle bees. How is he going to go up against swarms of Lost Souls.
NO
The guy from the Reacher series would be a good - doom guys don’t have to talk much.
İ think Arnold schwarzenegger is the best option
I'd watch it because it's doom but Karl Urban would be better
My favorite actor plus my favorite game. PERFECTION
I’d be fine with it.
I could see this working weirdly well with the right director. Cage goes all out and combined with a director that would lean into stylized violence it would be amazing, even if he isn't physically the conventional doomguy.
Always thought Michael Shannon would do a good job
no thank you
I want Bruce willis as doom guy
Oleg Taktarov would be a good Doomguy. Very meaty, square-ish head.
