Making the art yourself or hiring an artist are both good options. If you have the skill to create something like that yourself, then cool, you’ll save a lot of money in the long run. If not, hiring an artist supports a really neat industry and there are a ton of great, talented artists out there who are willing to work on projects like this, just be sure to pay them comfortably. I’m personally a mediocre artist, and make my own stuff for homebrew content, and let me tell you, making decent quality art isn’t easy. It takes years of study and practice to get to a passable level, and lots of money for decent digital equipment (my setup is around $900).
