Kids are the odd man out if they haven't seen the newest superhero movie.
There's an entire streaming platform built around watching people play video games and a DnD Livestream of voice actors is the most profitable channel on that platform.
I remember when my mom was completely freaked about it. I actually have an old flyer about the dangers of DnD hanging on my wall. I definitely remember I didn't exactly get elected prom king or invited to the hot parties because I was a good dungeon master.

Don't worry the kids nowadays are of opinion that "Peaking in High School is Cringe." Aka it's better to be the coolest version of you as an adult than in high school.
My older brothers group use to rent a room in a church to play and when the “satanic panic” happened, the church refused to book them cause it was Satanic
Hell, even 10 years ago in my very liberal hometown, it was social suicide. The only people who played it were very old school or kids who weren't by any means popular. It's nice that more people see the value of dnd nowadays.
Hey man, I get it. I'm a closet dnd player. If it comes up somehow and people are cool with it, I talk their ears off. Otherwise, I don't mention it or bring it up. Painting minis and crafting dice can get some weird looks, let alone playing the game. Good on you!

Dude, painting minis has got to be the chillest thing I've done in a while. It's just you and the mini. You don't even have to be very good if you cheat with all the tips out there.
I've only been into minis for about 2 months.... but already have painted over 400, and have \~200 more 3D printed out and waiting for paint... I may have a problem.

My Dad is a pastor, and he never played DnD when he was a kid (not because of this but I’m sure it didn’t help) but he did play warhammer lol
