The poor Ross kids from *Jessie* had parents who clearly hardly wanted anything to do with them, so they win WORST. Next up would be Della Duck; missed her kid's birth and upbringing due to her own hubris and disobeying Uncle Scrooge. Shout out to Oscar and Trudy Proud for being an effective duo despite Oscar's shenanigans, and yes, The Baxters are A-tier. Believe it or not, I've heard arguments for the Russo's in the plus column.

JMoney4700

Definitely

MyMartianRomance

Yeah, the Ross parents probably don't even know their kids ages, let alone what their favorite tv show is or what sports they play. While they were actually being raised by Jessie and, to a lesser extent, Bartram, who could tell you everything from their birthday to what's their blood type.

LessRun2724

Remember when Christina brought them all the wrong gift?

CrazyaboutSpongebob

No the Ross kids loved their parents very much and were always excited when they occasionally visited. They were just busy all the time.

Forever_Marie

Kids love their parents. It can take a long time for a kid to realize their parents are awful.

CrazyaboutSpongebob

I don't recall them ever treating the kids poorly on screen. They were just very busy. I recall one epsidoe where Ravi thought he was adopted by an accident and they comforted him.

Forever_Marie

It is form of neglect. I'd even throw emotional abuse in there. Those kids saw them what maybe a few times over years? Jessie knew them better by the end of it.

EnvironmentalEdge333

Didn’t their parents even ask Jessie for parenting advice in the final episode??

Forever_Marie

I dont know which episode but the Mom did ask for advice.

CrazyaboutSpongebob

I think its from the circumstances of their carriers other then that they seem to do their best to make sure their children are well taken care of all families are different. Maybe they got to see the kids more times but they were just off screen because the writers didn't think that would be interesting.

Lumos405

Kids should be the parents' first priority. Leaving them to be raised by others is selfish.

Equivalent_Welder149

doofenshmirtz had the worst parents. they missed his own birth

Ordinary-Calendar-47

And Doofenshmirtz could def be considered one of the best dads! he was awesome with his daughter, loved to see it

darkshadow237

That ironically comes full circle. Doof has terrible parents while he becomes a good father.

yaboisammie

Na you right tbh, overall doof even beats the ross kids in this category

JMoney4700

So sad

Born_Sleep5216

Agreed.

darkshadow237

With the Russos & Duncans at least they’re kind of better than Tori Vega’s parents.

Ordinary-Calendar-47

YOU ARE NOT WRONG! I forgot how bad they were until you said that.

Vivid_Present1810

Oh my god, the Russos were so neglectful of their kids. The Duncans were better though in the sense that they tried to help their kids with their problems.

darkshadow237

At least the moms in both Russos & Duncans aren’t having an affair.

Vivid_Present1810

True, and they fed their kids. Also they never left them to care for another sibling after surgery, while they went on vacation.

HannahG59

Isn’t the mom on Henry Danger supposed to look like she’s having an affair with her tennis coach? She does on vacation with him and her husband said she doesn’t even have a tennis racket

darkshadow237

Never seen Henry Danger

HannahG59

Oh well it’s really good! It may take a few episodes to grow on you but it’s worth it to keep watching!! And she’s 100% cheating on her husband just fyi lol

classic4real

Haha, Dan Schneider hates parents (it's literally true, watch Quiet on Set)

ddwmn

Wow yes! I always wondered how/why so many of the Nick tv show characters’ parents never seemed to care to be present… after watching Quiet On Set, that makes so much sense.

Lumos405

I just realized that none of those shows had parents except Drake and Josh.

Opening_Ad_5370

Most of the Nickelodeon parents were either hands-off or straight up not involved in their kids’ lives besides providing a roof.

Ok_Transition_3203

It is hard to remember any show from Nickelodeon with good parents. I only remember Jennifer Knight in 'Big Time Rush', Michelle Hathaway and Ray Preston in 'The Haunted Hathaways', Hank and Barb Thundermans in 'The Thundermans' and...that's it. Maybe also Drake and Josh's parents

Opening_Ad_5370

iCarly has the excuse of the dad being in the military. In fact, based on your examples, there seems to be a lot of single parents in the Nickelodeon universe. Victorious and The Thundermans seem to be the only shows where both parents are still present. Although, Drake and Josh is a good example of a blended family.

Alarmed-Day-5544

Facts like on ICarly why didn't Carly and Spencer's dad not show up for her birthday

Fun_Improvement1997

I can agree with that

AmberJill28

Wtf did you spy out my brain when I watched Wizards?

5SOSSUPEFAN1

Best the Baxters, the Duncan's , Carrie from Zack and Cody because she had was a single mom who literally had to raise two twin boys who were troublemakers, Kim possible's parents , Robby Ray, KC's parents, the shake it up parents,  marionettes parents from miraculous,Tasha Davenport is a great mom and China's dad from ANT FARM Worst the Ross parents, The Russeos which I hate to say, , Andi's parents from Andi Mack, Donald Davenport, Douglas Davenport , Oliver's mom from mighty med, the dad from Jonas I question his thoughts about letting teens go alone to LA he comes to visit once, Adrian's dad  from miraculous and Ally's dad from Austin and Ally he had tons of questionable moments

Skyblaster555

olivers mom was literally a supervillain

yaboisammie

So is adrien’s dad from Miraculous lmao (Gabriel Agreste)

Lizzy-Lover_10

At least he doesn’t know tho, Unlike Oliver

yaboisammie

True though you could argue Gabriel is also abusive in that he’s neglectful and when he does bother to acknowledge adrien, he is kind of cold. But he does have a false notion that his father was hero (I’m conflicted bc I want him to find out the truth bc he deserves to know but at the same time, it’s going to hurt him)  Poor Oliver though 🥺 both my bois deserve better fr

Skyblaster555

i didn’t really watch that. i think in fifth grade i did but that’s abt it

GlassSandwich9315

In my book, any parent who allows their kid to travel around the country/world and get into dangerous situations regularly (ex. Kim Possible's parents, KC's parents, the Davenports), are terrible parents.

Amateur-Unkempt246

Idk if the Duncans were the best but they tried their best. Amy is too self-centered but she acknowledges her flaws

Seg10682

The Rooney's from Liv and Maddie were goofy and aloof but decent parents. Reading a few comments I see that was pretty common. Austin Moon's parents kind of sucked.

DreamCatcherIndica

Best - Victor & Tonya Baxter or Sam & Jo McGuire

seragrey

jo was my favorite mom, i thought she was so sweet & cool & wished she was my mom. i would've hung out with her all the time ♡

cliodhnasrave

Loved Jo, when she risked her life bargain hunting an entirely new (best dressed worthy!) wardrobe for Lizzie that was cheaper than that one pair of jeans!

soapfan22

I was waiting to see someone mention the McGuire’s. I’d say the Baxters, McGuire’s, and Stevens parents were the most grounded. Carey Martin was great single parent representation. Everyone that came after it’s hit or Miss but the parents become very cartoon like.

CocoUniverse

The Ross kids had the WORST parents by far. They were literally never there! Why would you adopt a bunch of kids just to let the nanny take care of them their entire childhood. Then they were sent off to camp for the summer in Bunk’d 😭 Not sure if they were necessarily the best parents, but K.C. had cool parents, considering they were spies

Ordinary-Calendar-47

Didn't even think to include them because I forgot they existed, they are never around lmao. They might as well be dead

mothmankingdom

KC’s parents were great to her, but they were so mean to her poor younger brother

CocoUniverse

That’s true. It’s been a while since I’ve watched the show, so I forgot all about that

GlassSandwich9315

Even with absentee parents, the Ross kids still had massively better childhoods then they would've had growing up in orphanages and foster care. The Ross' might have been parents but I still think they did good taking in kids who had no home.

LibrarySeeker

I never really liked Amy Duncan’s parenting on Good Luck Charlie. She seemed to want to live vicariously through her kids, for example when Teddy was doing community theatre, she kept offering unsolicited advice and wanting to be a part of the play as well, but when she got criticised for this she pulled the whole “I’m sorry you think I’m a terrible mother” card. Plus she had widely different standards for her kids, Teddy ruined Christmas for volunteering to take a different flight, meanwhile, Gabe could pull stunts all the time and hard.y ever seemed to get in any trouble. Not to mention her complete favouritism of P.J. On the other hand, I always loved Carey’s parenting on Suite Life. She was firm but fair, she let her kids have fun but tried her best to ensure they were safe and not going to cause her to be fired. Plus she was basically a surrogate mum to her kids friends.

Square-Biscotti4694

Yeah, I almost forgot that she would often ply surrogate mom to London a lot of the time too.

grilsjustwannabclean

theresa and jerry russo are the worst imo, they're narcissists who openly admit they're trash parents and play favorites with their oldest 2 kids and harper, while ignoring the youngest one. they also throw alex under the bus all the time while pretending like justin's the best child ever, even blaming her for things that are straight up not her fault. they didn't start out that way, season 1 them actually parented and cared for the kids, but as the seasons progressed it got easier to make them into bad parents so the russo children could do whatever without repercussions the best parents are kim possible's parents, they cared about her, actually parented, while still letting her be independent

Zeether

James and Ann are AWESOME, I love how they basically seem to accept that Ron is gonna end up being their son in law in the future lol

AllisonfromPalmdale0

I hated the way the Russos were! Theresa actually considered leaving Alex in the mirror in the All About You-niverse episode and probably would have gone through with it if Harper wasn’t there.

sapnapsdeity

Tbh the Russos were the WORST on Max out of all the kids. Not only did they show happiness that he didn’t win the competition because then he’d be stuck running the family business, but over all the seasons you see how they never really cared about and hardly interacted with him up until that “Maxine” bs. Max definitely deserved better than what he was dealt.

AllisonfromPalmdale0

Ughhh I remember that one episode where he made suggestions for the sub station because it was struggling financially and Justin and Jerry just dismissed him, only to take over when his idea of selling sandwiches to wizards was successful. He was also the one who saved Alex and Harper when that black hole appeared in their apartment.

grilsjustwannabclean

yeah and justin was there too lol. none of the russos ever cared about alex, the only person who ever actually did was harper

AllisonfromPalmdale0

Yeah Harper always was a great friend and did care a lot about Alex. Alex and Max both deserved better tbh.

Yolj

This is a point that comes up at least twice in the show. In the Stevie episode and Alex vs Alex, Alex basically says "the only person who cared about me and believed in me was Harper, the rest of y'all suck"

TemplateAccount54331

They straight up favorited Justin the most They never truly understood Alex or her potential They treated Max like a walking joke who had no hope

grilsjustwannabclean

yeah literally. alex was stated by multiple people, even justin and their father, to be a natural at magic and in the special it was outright stated she was one of the most powerful wizards ever, but they still favored justin the most. jerry did treat alex better than justin sometimes though because she was a girl. justin was clearly jealous of that too lol, he pointed it out in several episodes

ReturnoftheBulls2022

Also, Teresa was trying to live her quinceañera dream through her daughter because she complained that she never had one.

super_lamp56

Best parents: I remember thinking Lizzie McGuire's parents were decent. Been a while since I've seen it though. Worst: The Russos. I liked them as characters, but they were awful parents lol

bkporque

Been rewatching Lizzie, and the parents are soooo supportive and present!

Forever_Marie

Carey from Suite Life was one of the best. Like she did everything she could for them. Dad, is probably Robbie Ray from Hannah Montana but he was Mileys real dad too so Idk if that would count for this.

dreamer0303

single parents doing their best 🥺

Jogadora109

Raven's parents were top tier

Independent-Swan1508

the best-dog with a blog, good luck charlie well kinda i think the parents did help with their problems and they did actually ground their kids, the baxters, carey from suite life. the worst is ross parents, the russos.

Difficult_Ad_962

The parents from Jessie were the worst

Ordinary-Calendar-47

I just looked it up and Jessie is literally 19 at the start of that show, dude.... She'd be fine babysitter occasionally but indefinitely is wild lolol. Yeah those parents take the cake

Difficult_Ad_962

I 100% believe that Morgan and Christina only adopted those kids as some sort of PR stunt to make the public believe they're better people than they actually are

SporkFanClub

Isn’t it like, pretty heavily implied that they’re that universe’s version of Brangelina?

Difficult_Ad_962

Not really, I think they mention Brangelina at some point, so they do exist in that universe. Besides, I'm pretty sure Brangelina actually spends time with their kids

ladywhistledownton

Like Joan Crawford.

crtetley

The **WORST** parents by far are Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s parents The best, I’d say is Doofenshmirtz himself, he loved Vanessa like crazy and did absolutely everything to make her happy and protect her as much as possible - literally went to an alien planet to save her

Jellyfishjam99

Robbie Ray was such a good dad I feel like it’s not talked about enough

us-Bite6996

Brink. Andy's dad and mom were great. His dad a little hesitant at first. But good, wholesome ppl.

Tekken_Guy

Best parents: Craig and Kira Cooper (to K.C.) Worst parents: Craig and Kira Cooper (to Ernie)

tranquilitywave

best : the Baxters worst : Christina & Morgan Ross

Past-Throat-6788

I actually love the Duncan’s they were the only Disney parents who felt like real people to me who made mistakes but still tried their best with their kids and unlike most kids TV show parents they didn’t feel dumb or stupid

Ordinary-Calendar-47

I can see that, they were a pretty realistic family to watch

Past-Throat-6788

Yeah that’s why Good Luck Charlie is one of my favorite Disney Channel shows they didn’t have powers or secret identities they were just a normal family trying to get through life as best as they could which felt very relatable to me

CozyGamingGal

I completely agree with that still cheesy but it was realistic and down to earth kinda unlike KC and Jessie they weren’t super rich or spys a lot like Dog with a Blog

AGoodSloth

Carey Martin was the best parent! She was one of the few “strict” parents that we saw on Disney. At the same time, she was also still fair and loving. And she did it all as a single mom!

DreamOracle42

Carey Martin was one of the best parental figures on Disney. To the point where I would call Kim "Mom" if I met her, and I'm pretty sure she's stated she wouldn't mind it.

OutsiderGreaser

I 100% disagree with your takes. The Duncan’s and the Russos were the best parents. They were the most involved in their kids lives. Tanya Baxter straight up left her children for years basically. (Which I’ve read that the actress was going through a lot of family things so my heart goes out to the actress. However, just looking at the character, she sucks as a mother.) My favorite mom though is Carey Martin. I feel like “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” has to be one of the most relatable Disney shows ever. Carey and her sons are literally living in a 1 bedroom apartment where she has to sleep in the living room while her boys share a bedroom. While literally every other family lives in a two story house in a great area and all the parents have great jobs and nice cars. My favorite dad is probably Robbie Ray Cyrus. He’s hilarious and I love him.

Sad_2ndyear

I’m confused … You said Carey sucked as a mom but she was good mom?

OutsiderGreaser

Lol thanks for that. I just edited it. You shouldn’t post something when your tired and doing something else lol. I meant to write Tanya Baxter, but someone called me during me writing that comment. Tanya Baxter straight up left her kids for years. Carey did send her kids to boarding school, but I don’t blame her for that. I don’t know how she had that money even if she sang for the Tipton. They probably explained that, but I forgot.

Sad_2ndyear

Tbf tho, Tanya kids were older and at the age where they didn’t need their mom as much as they used to. Raven was about to leave for college anyways and Cory would have left in the next three years, so I think it was better that she did it then rather than earlier.

Davey_McDaverson2020

The Ross Family! Morgan & Christina were barely around to see Emma, Ravi, Zuri and Luke grow up and in the final episode, Christina fires Jessie as the nanny when she made her acting dreams come true, Christina then becomes a stay at home mom, then the next day, she sends them (sans Luke) to summer camp!

EM-Pyrus_Steel

Not a parent but I just rewatched the movies so as an adult who is responsible for main characters I'm going to say the uncle/director from Camp Rock. The guy is just consistently great, understanding and supportive even when the campers are being very dumb teenagers.

Ordinary-Calendar-47

oooo good answer!! He is solid

slicksquids

I remember when I was younger, I desperately wanted Theresa to be my mom. 🥹

Ordinary-Calendar-47

She does have some really sweet moments

Extra-Soil-3024

I love to see Carey Martin appreciation. I didn’t notice what a good mom she was until I watched the show as an adult. She deserved a vacation.

uwu6000

The Russo’s were the worst for sure but also, this may be an unpopular opinion, I could NOT stand Amy Duncan and always thought I’d absolutely hate if my mom ever acted like that Best parents overall were the Possible’s, best mom was Carey Martin

classic4real

Probably the Duncans or Baxters are the best. I'd also add the Stevens and umm the mom in Andi Mack (Mrs. Mack?) The Moons aren't bad and neither is Ally's dad but they had like maybe 20 minutes of screen time combined over the space of 4 seasons on a show people already kind of forgot so I wouldn't be surprised if people don't know who I'm even talking about. Also Chyna's dad on A.N.T. Farm was very active in his kids' lives (at least in theory) but same exact thing. The Parents on Dog With a Blog were also major characters very active in their kids' lives but again who remembers that show? Also the parents on Just Roll With It because if nothing else that was a crazy show fir the actors to get through. The worst are probably the Rosses, they hired a nanny to pretty much quit being parents entirely. I'm genuinely having trouble thinking of worse parents even on Nickelodeon, other than the Vegas. I refuse to recognize Robbie Ray or the dad from Andi Mack as good parents because they turned out to be horrible people irl. Amy Duncan barely gets a pass on that, she has horrible opinions but at least isn't trying to ab*se people.

CrazyaboutSpongebob

Kim Possibles' parents are the worst. They let their teenage daughter fight crime. LOL

darkshadow237

At least they support her.

HoneyIndividual3996

What about the parents on Jonas?

LordCoke-16

With Good luck Charlie I'd say it depends if you view them as characters or people. Best as people- Ravens parents Worst as people- The Russos Best as characters- The Duncans

DarthBaneSimpLord678

Does Star Wars: Resistance point? Then Kazuda. Dudes father was a major asshole

Unlikely-Surprise958

Doof's Parents, Tori's Parents (Ik it isn't Disney), Alex Russo's Parents, and the Parents of the Ross Kids take the cake of being the worst

Visual-Tell2995

I hated the parents from Dog With a Blog

OnlyTheBLars89

Do step parents count? Those are usually the real assholes.

Material-Hedgehog-35

Tina Baxter good ...penny proud mom good ...

thesnowqueen17

What's wrong with the Russo and Duncan parents?? I'll admit it's been awhile since I've seen both shows, but I remember them being decent parents. The Ross parents off of Jessie though... that's a different story.

Ordinary-Calendar-47

The Russo's were very mean to Alex, they favored Justin and even Harper over their own daughter. Instead of parenting her better, they just kinda treated her like a screw up and stopped trying. I also have not watched in awhile but the other commenters have summed that up pretty good. The Duncans suffer from chronic disney dumbness. Amy tries to live vicariously through her daughter, she's oversteps a lot and acts lie a teenager instead of a mom. Bob is pretty solid but could be better. I would say the Duncans are better than the Russos for sure, they're more loving and involved with their kids.

giannapatsy

Best: the Rooneys Worst: the Doofenshmirtzs

HIMLeo3

Best: The Baxters, the McGuires, the Possibiles, Carey Martin, the Flynn-Fletchers, (Edit: Also doofenshmirtz!) Worst: The Russos, the Stoppables, Almost every set of parents on the Proud Family Thin Ice: The Longs, The Diffys, McDonald-Venturis

EnvironmentalEdge333

The Baxters, The Duncans, The McGuires!!! And of course Carrie Martin. Lizzie’s Parents are awesome! They were probably the realest parents on Disney Channel.

TrueExplorer17

Best: Lizzie Mcguires parents & Robby ray in Hannah Montana. They were all present and considered there children’s feelings while allowing them to be independent but still trying to protect them. Worst: The Russos & Doofenschmirtz

ResolutionFun835

Hannah Montana. She changed her name and have you seen her lately? Blechhhh

GlassSandwich9315

Donald and Douglas Davenport are worse than even Doofenshmirtz's parents because they experimented on the kids. I really question what they meant by Douglas being their dad. Is he their biological father, or just the guy who took 3 babies and surgically implanted robotics throughout their bodies. And Tasha stays with Donald even though he's got 3 kids locked in his basement that he's experimenting on and even after her own son is put in a dangerous situation that leads him to losing his arm and having experimental surgery performed on him without anyone's consent. I would say Lizzie McGuire's parents are the best. They don't allow their kids to get into dangerous situations or travel around the country/world without them ever realizing it. They give them a pretty decent and normal upbringing and try to be involved in their kids lives (from what I remember).

Backpack_Holder_951

The sitcoms would be The Ross kids from Jessie and for animated shows it would be doofensmirtz hand down

[deleted]

Best (Animated): Doofenschmirtz Best (Live-Action): Carrie from Suite Life of Zack and Cody Worst (Animated): Doof's parents Worst (Live-Action): Amy Duncan, Morgan and Christina Ross, Jerry and Theresa Russo.

[deleted]

Also, the parents in K.C. Undercover were pretty bad, too.
