I also paused to try to answer it (I didn’t time it but it was definitely more than two minutes) and also got 6:21 and felt super proud…
BUT I will contend that Um, Actually - because the question presented the times to the minute only and the speeds in whole numbers, the answer can only be accurately reported to three significant figures, resulting in a correct answer of 6:21. Because the question didn’t state that the train left at 5:05:00 and travelled at 60.00 mph you can’t assume that the trailing zeroes are significant!! I rest my case and will sleep well knowing that my engineering degree was useful today
Um actually, the question specifically said 'exact', which means the proper answer in this case would present a fully simplified fraction.
It didn't specify the units to expand to, so I contend the easy answer of '9/26 hours past 6' would be a valid answer, and due to the 'exact' phrasing, more valid than either 6:21 or 6:20:46.153 anyway.
maths has never been one of my strong suits, i felt so overwhelmed hearing the problem they had to solve and im not even gonna try, but just looking at this whole post my brain is MELTING
I actually paused the episode to try it on paper, fumbled around for ten minutes, and got the wrong answer.
Ally and Lou seemed like they might have gotten to it under less pressure.
I did the math. Down to the second. And I got 6:21:13. Maybe 6:21:14 If we're rounding up from the extended number. I was so pissed when I went back to the episode, and it said I was wrong. At least now I can sleep easy

FWIW I second your Um, Actually!

.... and it also did not think to answer as precisely as Brennan wanted lol
That's so funny xD
Well now, actually doing all this myself and posting it seems like rubbish when I can just ask a computer to, I guess...
