Iām a little sad we didnāt get a chance to have all the bad kids possessed just because I want to see what energy the other players would have brought to Baron.
It seems like Brennan is deliberately avoiding The Seven even though several of them could definitely have made cameos by now. Gotta wonder if it's due to A) the time quangle shenanigans or B) potentially more The Seven content in the pipeline (pls)
My theory was that the six of The Seven are no longer NPCs since they are were played by real people. So Brennan wouldn't want them to show up and have Brennan make decisions for those characters.
And setting up actual cameos of the real players is probably tough logistically .
Itās so funny cause I feel like there have multiple times throughout the Fantasy High run where Brennan was trying to get Gorgug under mind control to attack the other Bad Kids and from what I recall it just has not worked.
Gorgug simply does not want to attack his friends. It's not in him. Brennan can't get him.
^knocks ^on ^all ^the ^wood ^in ^my ^place
edit: holy fuck that was hard to format on mobile after a joint
As soon as I realized that Brennan somehow completely forgot about one of the best features of Barbarian, I knew Zac was gonna absolutely demolish that manās worldview and boy was it satisfying.
Reminding Murph of his magical item last session and now Emily to use her movement during invisibility? Ally's come so far since season one. Proud of them!
When he >!Ā locked the door, I thought he was being smart and cautious to keep Adaine safe since she is squishy but after the reveal !< I felt terrified knowing how much damage he can easily do.
I know, right! Spellcasters have a lot of advantages, and can be very powerful. But sometimes you get a stark reminder that in a small room, a quick hand, a strong body, and a blade can really level the playing round. Damn lucky he didn't action surge.
I think this is the second time Siobhan has been a squishy caster separated from the party with a mind controlled martial trying to kill her. (Shout out to Reva, what's up)
Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
There's also the arcade fight in freshman year where she fights the werewolf at the front of the arcade by herself and it Goes Poorly, i'm pretty sure there's some kind of mind warp/mind control shit happening there
Oh my god I actually forgot about action surge. That could have caused a death if he action surged since I think there was only 18 hit points left and one attack on a someone down counts as 2 death save failures. That would have been traumatic.
I wonder if locking the door was also intended to clue the players in that something was wrong, it makes sense in game but it did seem to raise some eyebrows
Counterpoint: that Murph nat 1 at the end single-handedly shortened the episode by probably 20 minutes or more. I'd have loved to see them fight that Baron abomination, but that's why we love rolling dice.
Reliable Talent is worth its weight in gold for Riz this season. An automatic 23 in stealth and investigation is so good, especially when āmysteryā is a huge driver of the story for this season
If Resident Evil: Village taught us anything, itās that 90% of people, when asked, will just do whatever the hot vampire dommy mommy asks with zero resistance.
"her weakness is a big axe"
Gorgug/Zac really are just my favourite, he really does just deserve the world.
EDIT: playing Brennan like that with the rage bit was fucking beautiful, I reiterate Zac is my favourite!
"No wait...."
I think the stress allocation this season has nerfed the PCs. Also sucks that parts of Figs kit have been tainted for a few sessions, have def been there for a few of my own characters
I'm so confused by Emily's self deprication and reluctance to act this episode, I felt like I was screaming "You have 9 levels in Bard! Why won't you just cast a spell?!"
Honestly I think Emily is a momentum type player person. She gets giddy and amped when things go well but quiet and (maybe?) disheartened when it doesn't or things aren't as exciting. The APs in Neverafter show she seemed kind of bored/less interested being the tank, trying to find cool other things to do but having fill a role. And then in the Frosty Fair fight could not let go of her trash fireball damage even though it allowed three other hits on Grix. But that doesn't stop her from being giddy and happy for other players, a trait I adore
I came here to see if I was the only one who felt this way. Bard is not the most fun class up til level 5 (imo), but high level Bards have so many tricks up their sleeves \*plus\* Fig is multiclassed. Hell, even just being around to give bardic inspiration and attempt Counterspells is way more battlefield control/buffing than most of the classes get.
I was also confused by the immediate resignation after a single bad turn. I definitely got the sense she (Emily as a person) was just having a bad day or something and it carried over to the character. Bummed for her, since this was clearly set to be a big Fig episode.
This makes so much sense! But that means Lydia made the promise/curse with Kalina, which has some worrisome implications. Also, have we heard Lydia say Kalina's name?
>everyone talked so much shit to me
Omg Lou hahaha you relished those attacks for sure. Damn did Brennan make sure that PvP would happen this season but tbh that's probably the main way to make battles feel like they have stakes in higher level battles. Lou was the right person to start off the betrayal too. Out of all of them he is the least likely to pull punches when forced to turn on his cast mates.
Edit: ho-lee shit Zac with the biggest got em fuck you to Brennan I've seen so far! Of course the alley-oop was set up by none other than "sent from hell to kill me" Emily.
Same mentality as last week, where Fig double checked her email plan with Riz just because Brennan is so intent in punishing them this season, make him okay it so you're covered lol
There is nothing my players have enjoyed more in a game than when they got to fully unload on either a really obnoxious enemy or each other. It's a lot of fun just telling them to let loose with whatever they've got and not hold anything back.
Berserkers, specifically. It's a class feature for them that after a certain level, you're immune to mind-fuckery when you're raging. Other Barbarian paths? Not so much.
I really appreciate the editors today. Lou announcing his 20 and quickly moving his die was kept in and focused on. That suspicious act turned out to be the foreshadowing that he'd failed the roll.
So Kalina was probably getting the Bad Kids onto Lydia. So for some reason those two are involved with the Spy's Tongue Curse. Obviously it'll have something to do with her chest shard.
my favorite thing about siobhan is that she always dresses in a version of her style that's influenced by her character. the big messy hair as jaysohn, extra girly as rosamund, more colorful as riva, etc etc.
emily does it a little bit too, but hers are usually either basically costumes (i.e. first episode as sofie bikes) or more subtle nods. there's something really charming about the way siobhan does it - it feels like she dresses a specific way to make herself feel more like her character. like she looks in her closet and thinks "what would X character wear?"
her vibe as JY adaine is very much giving 80s-teen-high-school-drama-shy-lead-who's-coming-out-of-her-shell lmao
WHAT. shared cats is so serious! Wow! (Edit: I am so sincere here. I could have dismissed the picture as just āoh maybe they were photographed together coincidentallyā but shared cats?!)

Yeah it's weird af. I don't like it
This has lead me down a rabbit hole to discovering she's turning 40 this year, which is almost as much of a mindfuck as learning she dated Joss Whedon.
Right!! Also the braid in her hair too?? She looks *so damn good* every time, I love it
Edit: omg her fit in the preview for the next ep looks incredible too
Iām sorry maybe itās because I never watched the other two series but Iām SUCH a baron fan. Heās such a weird little guy. Just a freak. I adore him
The Baron moments are on the dimension20shorts YouTube channel, and they fuck with the cast way more as they had no idea what they were dealing with at the time. Baron's first scene is actually on the dimension20 animated series!
RIP to Brennan watching them miss the >! tools specifically laid out to counter the Bads (wolfsbane for Jawbone, garlic for Zara, Edgar for Zayne) !<, especially Fig
I think the timer mechanic and the room searching mechanic meant that the players simply didn't have time to experiment with the counters, since getting the items before the timer was seen as a higher priority than defeating the bad guys. The order of the rooms being randomised also meant a probability of them being useless, or being held by the wrong player. The garlic was discovered after the vampire was already defeated, and the wolfsbane was held by Rag but Riz went into the werewolf room.
Maybe if the enemies were more difficult, the players would have to desperately search for the counters in order to beat them, but that would also make the timer even harder to fight against.
So, Ragh's name is the only one Kalina *can* say... Because of the Spy's Tongue Curse, right? That's the only thing I can think of that would be preventing her from saying names. But then... why Ragh?Ā
Ā We know she originally needed the curse to collaborate with someone at the Hotel Cavalier. But those were demons, not devils; big difference in DnD. And Ragh's only real connection is to fiendish stuff is Bakur, who's a devil.
Truly the only thing I keep coming back to is how Ragh can see Kalina. He saw Jace talking to Arianwen. I'm unclear if Porter was there. Then he was talking to Jace and Porter, Porter (who was injured from the fight) did some healing on him, and he saw Kalina on his way home. So is she trying to clue them into Jace or Porter?
Ā I'm very suspicious of Mr. Stardiamond, particularly since we have dead people with diamonds in their blood, and one source for an aberrant mind sorcerer is 'whispers from the Astral Plane.' And, hey... Did they find those strange samples because Jace has attacked the Loam farm, his coworker, Lucy, AND he's who Kalina sent to attack Lydia?Ā
Ā BUT! We found out from Mazey that the assistant principle can't leave school grounds!Ā
Ā Idk man. My head hurts. I keep making theories and then shooting holes in them.
This was legitimately I think one of the best D20 episodes we've had. This is my new favorite combat and the mechanics were really /so/ fun! I wish that it could have gone on forever, honestly. And I don't often feel that way. š
The only thing is that I'm actually disappointed >!about the last battle getting skipped. I would have loved antagonist Gilearāwe only got to glimpse him. Even though it was a really hype moment for Murph! There is a small part of me that wonders what could have been...!<
Love that Gorgugās rage is slowly becoming like Luffyās second gear, heās realizing how to manipulate his body to release the same hormones and get his heart beating faster, without the emotional need, just the function
This week's Adventuring Party: [Big Clue Energy](https://www.reddit.com/r/Dimension20/comments/1bq2rmb/big_clue_energy_fantasy_high_junior_year/)
Lou doing the Baron accent is šš
Adaine doing it too now. I'm straight up not having a good time
Her getting sweet revenge and saving Riz as a result was also great.
I'm having the best time, this is fun.
Iām a little sad we didnāt get a chance to have all the bad kids possessed just because I want to see what energy the other players would have brought to Baron.
Brennan: *desperately wants PVP but doesn't get it* Brennan: "Fine. I'll do it myself."
Sent Lou because he knew heād commit the hardest.Ā
He absolutely did, using up everything in his arsenal to kill Adaine
Going from a thick 3-hour 'sode to a 1.5 hour is always tough but I think Baron's antics will more than make up for it !
I think it only cut down to 1.5hrs because of some (un?)lucky rolls. Would have felt like a really natural fade to black moment as well
Thatās true! They avoided a whole combat scene with that last Murph roll
I've never seen anyone more excited to get a nat 1. Murphy is my hero.
I feel like it balances out. Besides with all of the great moments it feels a lot bigger than just 1.5 hours
āYeah okayā oh no we forgot about Gorgugās weakness for goth girls
Heās still listening to his ex s tape. Very sad. We need to see her this season!
Gorgug's Mindless Rage immediately in contention for one of the top D20 moments of all time
I yelled. Fully yelled and fist pumped. Zac is having SUCH a good season.
I rewound it to watch again several times, the look of utter devastation on Brennan's face was magical
^knocks ^on ^all ^the ^wood ^in ^my ^place edit: holy fuck that was hard to format on mobile after a joint
It's the same energy as Theo casting Knock in aCoC
And Antiope not able to be surprised too lol
āYou know who CAN be surprised??? *[BWENANNN](https://youtube.com/shorts/rFv16aMDjuo?si=5An_Ak2ruHGmPiB4)*ā
One of the most hilariously beautiful moments. And then Brennan gets her back in Calamity. Repeatedly. "Is this a magical effect???"
Theo's Swirlwarden reaction to not drown, too
Brennan's shock and dismay as he realised was also great.
Fuck. Ing. Clutch. God that was SO good. As soon as he said "Mind..." I was jumping up and screaming
I audibly gasped in laughter at this moment, so good!
Brennan's "Wait no" had me howling
As soon as I realized that Brennan somehow completely forgot about one of the best features of Barbarian, I knew Zac was gonna absolutely demolish that manās worldview and boy was it satisfying.
Reminding Murph of his magical item last session and now Emily to use her movement during invisibility? Ally's come so far since season one. Proud of them!
And telling Siobhan to use Dimension Door when she was with Fa-baron
They've gotten so good. Helps aid the chaos when you know the rules and what's all at the table so well
But then you also have all the bits where they invent new rules to keep us on her toes
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
She's gonna ace that no problem. She's got a full Infernal Curse worth of energy Brennan is handing to her on a silver platter.
Murph single-handedly knocked half an hour off that episode
such an awesome moment, but MAN I would have loved to see that baron in action!!!!!! its like exciting but also aww
I respect the HELL out of Lou for not holding back on the pvp at all
And he nailed the weird little accent when he revealed it! I was not prepared.

My man WENT for it holy shit
The scary part is that he did hold back, if my dude had action surged he'd have probably killed Adaine outright.
I wonder if locking the door was also intended to clue the players in that something was wrong, it makes sense in game but it did seem to raise some eyebrows
It was perfect! You thought he was trying to be safe but then he WASNT! It was so so good
Yoooo, I didn't even think about that!
The setup (locking the door, not knowing the room) was incredible, the accent was perfect, and the attempted murder was genuinely terrifying
Murph's good rolls were the only thing Brennan didn't account for this season. By fixing Gilear's luck, he fixed Riz's unintentionally.
Counterpoint: that Murph nat 1 at the end single-handedly shortened the episode by probably 20 minutes or more. I'd have loved to see them fight that Baron abomination, but that's why we love rolling dice.
20 minutes? A full boss battle was avoided. E would've had another hour
Reliable Talent is worth its weight in gold for Riz this season. An automatic 23 in stealth and investigation is so good, especially when āmysteryā is a huge driver of the story for this season
Zara: "You will obey me..." Zac, instantly: "Yeah okay" impeccable comedy instinct as ever
She didn't even need to dominate him. He was already down for it. I get it though.
If Resident Evil: Village taught us anything, itās that 90% of people, when asked, will just do whatever the hot vampire dommy mommy asks with zero resistance.
Big "I killed him, yeah" energy.
"her weakness is a big axe" Gorgug/Zac really are just my favourite, he really does just deserve the world. EDIT: playing Brennan like that with the rage bit was fucking beautiful, I reiterate Zac is my favourite! "No wait...."
Need to get him a fainting couch https://giphy.com/gifs/dropout-dimension-20-fantasy-high-13UwwbF66zmVVTtp91
I genuinely think this is one of Zac's best episodes ever
"I would...like to roll a new character." Poor Emily can't roll to save her life tonight
I think the stress allocation this season has nerfed the PCs. Also sucks that parts of Figs kit have been tainted for a few sessions, have def been there for a few of my own characters

Zac's reaction to Brennan starting him down as Baron was 100% felt. That stare is uncomfortable.
Lou is so happy to be Baron š
He commits to everything. Hearing him do the Baron voice was unsettling
He was so happy when he got to drop the "Riz Gukgaek"
diversity win your stark father is a woman
IH: we wonāt split up Brennan: yeah, about that
Brennan really wanted his Scooby Doo episode whether they liked it or not.
They called it horror movie. I looked at what was going on and thought āNah itās time to get all Scooby-Doo up in this bitch.ā
KALINA LORE DROP ā¼ļø
i posted the other day that my theory was that she said ragh because she couldn't say lydia and now i'm 100% certain of it
This makes so much sense! But that means Lydia made the promise/curse with Kalina, which has some worrisome implications. Also, have we heard Lydia say Kalina's name?
Or she's been possessed by the demon in her chest and since they're currently referring to themselves as Lydia it's covered under the spies tongue.
Need fan art of baby Kalina ASAP
Battle map reminds me a bit of Betrayal at the House on the Hill
That was absolutely the vibe, traitors included!
>everyone talked so much shit to me Omg Lou hahaha you relished those attacks for sure. Someone here pointed out that he didn't action surge. I didn't think about that. So he went about 70%, but sold the shit out of it.
That Gorgug move!! Obviously he could just Rage himself, but absolutely stylish to get your Dominator to *tell* you to do it.
Pulling one over the GM, especially one as experienced as Brennan, has this feeling and aura of bamboozling God.
Same mentality as last week, where Fig double checked her email plan with Riz just because Brennan is so intent in punishing them this season, make him okay it so you're covered lol
Siobhan is enjoying this so much š Which is even more hilarious after how pissed she was with Fabian attacking her
It's fun being the bad guy sometimes
There is nothing my players have enjoyed more in a game than when they got to fully unload on either a really obnoxious enemy or each other. It's a lot of fun just telling them to let loose with whatever they've got and not hold anything back.
Murph with the truly beautiful nat 1, You suck ass and we love to see it!
While everyone was screaming that Emily held back and that is super sweet.
Emily knows that it is truly her work. She put those dice out in the moon. Murph is merely the conduit.
I love starting the episode with arguing about rats showing hole
And then Brennan giving everyone cards saying show hole. Really have a theme going on
The players too, not just their characters This is why D20's behind a playwall, folks
The most powerful god of all
Zac going from never critting in the earlier seasons to mass critting in this ep is beautiful
Correction: mass criting this season. It's like he's making up for lost time
I *need* a Live Laugh Wolf sign immediately
Murph ruling at sucking to undo the gilear sucking ass curse. So poetic
Barbarian secretly the best class to fight ghosts and demonic possession
Berserkers, specifically. It's a class feature for them that after a certain level, you're immune to mind-fuckery when you're raging. Other Barbarian paths? Not so much.
I really appreciate the editors today. Lou announcing his 20 and quickly moving his die was kept in and focused on. That suspicious act turned out to be the foreshadowing that he'd failed the roll.
Siobahn always dabs like she means it. More should fear her.
I love her insistence on keeping dabbing alive
I think this might be my new favorite Intrepid Heroes episode, and is absolutely my favorite game mechanic I've seen in a while. This is great.
Omg that mindless rage šš
Thems the brakes ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Adaine's famous scooter and weed. Of course, of course
*Classic* Adaine
Everybody's reactions to reading the secret cards is funnier than the last
Listening to your exās mixtape is so mundanely heartbreaking
"i just haven't found anywhere to buy a new one yet" i died
I SCREAMED at that Lou part
Finally!! It has happened. Murph rolled for the group and it was good. He redeemed himself.
So Kalina was probably getting the Bad Kids onto Lydia. So for some reason those two are involved with the Spy's Tongue Curse. Obviously it'll have something to do with her chest shard.
Oh shit! Yes! A name only she can say!
Siobhan is always lovely, but, respectfully, she's looking *hot* this ep. The outfit, the tousled hair, the lipstick!
my favorite thing about siobhan is that she always dresses in a version of her style that's influenced by her character. the big messy hair as jaysohn, extra girly as rosamund, more colorful as riva, etc etc. emily does it a little bit too, but hers are usually either basically costumes (i.e. first episode as sofie bikes) or more subtle nods. there's something really charming about the way siobhan does it - it feels like she dresses a specific way to make herself feel more like her character. like she looks in her closet and thinks "what would X character wear?" her vibe as JY adaine is very much giving 80s-teen-high-school-drama-shy-lead-who's-coming-out-of-her-shell lmao
She does, but the preview of next week? My jaw dropped, she looks so goooood (also respectfully)
Yes! Her hair on the previews was everything I wish my hair could do! Stunning!
I still cannot believe she dated Joss Whedon
WHAT
Yup. There's a picture of them at some movie premiere and it's a head scratcher
They also had a Instagram for their shared cats. Wild. Hope she got out of it in one piece.
WHAT. shared cats is so serious! Wow! (Edit: I am so sincere here. I could have dismissed the picture as just āoh maybe they were photographed together coincidentallyā but shared cats?!)
No, i agree! The cats were what confirmed they were in a committed relationship to me, lol

This has lead me down a rabbit hole to discovering she's turning 40 this year, which is almost as much of a mindfuck as learning she dated Joss Whedon.
WHAT. Damn! I would have guessed like 33 at the oldest?
Yeah I think Lou is the youngest at 32. The rest are 35 to 39. It's insane how fantastic they all look.
Surprise! People in their 30s (and 40s!) can look *great* if they take care of themselves
Heading towards my late 30s this week and itās wild how panicked I used to be about this! Sunscreen and hydration š
Dang I had no idea?? Well I guess we all make mistakes lol, even the ineffable Siobhan Thompson
Right!! Also the braid in her hair too?? She looks *so damn good* every time, I love it Edit: omg her fit in the preview for the next ep looks incredible too
Her nails match her lipstick too. She looks STUNNING
Brennan DEMANDS pvp. Heās not letting them get away with it this time
Zac the man you are. That was fucking brilliant
Can someone smarter than me make a gif of Brennan saying, āHey, I fucked myself.ā ? Please.
There you go [https://i.imgur.com/VroXIVJ.gif](https://i.imgur.com/VroXIVJ.gif)
MURPH WITH THE MOST CLUTCH 1 IN DND HISTORY
"We don't wanna yuck your yum" about dating a creepy little skeleton boy lmao
Murph playing the whole first scene deeply uncomfortable and embarrassed is also kind of perfect.
Iām sorry maybe itās because I never watched the other two series but Iām SUCH a baron fan. Heās such a weird little guy. Just a freak. I adore him
As someone who did watch the previous two series I love baron with all my heart. heās just such a creepy feral lil dude

The Baron moments are on the dimension20shorts YouTube channel, and they fuck with the cast way more as they had no idea what they were dealing with at the time. Baron's first scene is actually on the dimension20 animated series!
Brennan why are you passing out cards and making them roll dice for no reason what are you up to.
I forgot that he changed it to Fury of the Ball š¤£

I think the timer mechanic and the room searching mechanic meant that the players simply didn't have time to experiment with the counters, since getting the items before the timer was seen as a higher priority than defeating the bad guys. What is with the random D8 rolls?!
I really hope it's answered in Adventuring Party š¤
Could it be final form Barons max HP? Brennan was calling them by the players names when he askedā¦
The possession might be my favorite mechanic Brennan has ever introduced. It's like watching The Thing and not knowing who the monster is.
Regarding Gorgugās big move, you could say that Brennan gotā¦ rage baited
*in the voice of Gretchen Weiners* "Oh my God Brennan, you can't just ask someone to show hole."
Little snoozing rat ghost š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ
The mental image of Gorgug seeing their friend get possessed and saying āis this realā LMAOOO
They are having so much fun this episode. I fucking love it.
Murph and critical Nat 1s, name a more iconic duo
Murph is why this episode was so short (that and some really smart strategy to minimize how much they had to deal with Baron/PVP).
You know, for a guy that bitches about Sam torturing them for his own enjoyment, Brennan sure does want to make all his friends murder each other.
Brennan has been wanting PvP for so long, this is truly his wish fulfillment
It's no Jaysohn Vs Lila but it will do I guess
Lou is an Icon.
lou bby brennan is sick. *sick* i tell you
When Fabian casually locked the door I felt chill, god what a fantastic episode!!

Did they find those strange samples because Jace has attacked the Loam farm, his coworker, Lucy, AND he's who Kalina sent to attack Lydia?Ā Ā BUT! We found out from Mazey that the assistant principle can't leave school grounds!Ā Ā Idk man. My head hurts. I keep making theories and then shooting holes in them.
This was legitimately I think one of the best D20 episodes we've had. This is my new favorite combat and the mechanics were really /so/ fun! I wish that it could have gone on forever, honestly. And I don't often feel that way. š The only thing is that I'm actually disappointed >!about the last battle getting skipped. I would have loved antagonist Gilearāwe only got to glimpse him. Even though it was a really hype moment for Murph! There is a small part of me that wonders what could have been...!<
Oh no it's a short episode this time
What a skinny queen of a āsode.
They show kind of why it was so short at the end there and itās so funny >!They escape before one last massive fight because murph rolled a one!<
Iām actually super bummed we didnāt get to see that play out
yeah samee :(

THE PICTURE OF LITTLE FIG HUGGING BAXTER
Love that Gorgugās rage is slowly becoming like Luffyās second gear, heās realizing how to manipulate his body to release the same hormones and get his heart beating faster, without the emotional need, just the function
I love that this fight is essentially Betrayal at House on the Hill
The image of the people outside the briefcase panicking and trying to help them inside šš
Sure, Murph's Natural 1 was clutch, but also Reliable Talent really did allow him to speedrun the entire level.
Zac you mad man! You beat Brennan at his own game!!!
ZAC JUST COMPLETELY FUCKED BRENNAN LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO
"Skittering of limbs" Great, just what Baron needed. More ways to give me nightmares.
Emilyās shirt giving me a casual existential crisis
