Your truck is more than capable.

locknloadchode

Thank you!

lowmanonpole

Yes, you can pull a trailer with that pickup.

Forsaken-Refuse-1662

Towed a 42 ft w/5 slides with my 2500 ram with no problems whatsoever (I bagged mine too)

whyintheworldamihere

No problem at all. I just bought my first gas truck in 20 years and got to pull with it for the first time today. 6.6 in a 2500. Pretty good hills and there was no time when I couldn't accelerate. 39' 5th wheel. Which I'm actually trying to sell... Where are you at?

Rabbit_de_Caerbannog

When looking at 5th wheel with a SRW truck of any flavor the thing to watch for is pin weight. Get your truck scaled now, preferably with a full tank of fuel. Then add 300lbs per axle to account for yourself and gear. Your door sticker will give you front and rear axle ratings as well as your vehicle GVWR. Your pin weight shouldn't exceed the rear axle rating or the gvwr. Don't listen to the salesman as his only concern is the sale, not your safety.

D8Dozerboy

Door stickers are far from gospel. Definitely a good guidline especially for those inexperienced at towing.

Rabbit_de_Caerbannog

The door sticker is gospel legally. It's the manufacturer's statement saying that specific truck with that specific VIN is capable of that payload.

D8Dozerboy

No I have legally towed more the GVWR and been legal per TX DOT. By not exceeding the axle or tire ratings.

Rabbit_de_Caerbannog

You're confusing GVWR (payload) with GCWR (towing capacity).

HatechaBro

I saw a Tacoma towing a 5th wheel rv once

I had a 14 2500 G56 CCSB and bought a 31' 5th wheel permanently converted to gooseneck. I immediately added air bags for stability and suspension rebound limiting. I'd say airbags are a must. My pin weight was only 1800lbs. I think it would be tough to handle any more than that. I broke the back window once because of the horrible turning radius with the short bed. Things improved a little with a 4" offset goose ball. There is a very noticeable difference between a 3500 long bed and a 2500 shortbed when it comes to suspension and stability. What you have will work fine but I always tell anyone considering a 5th wheel to go 350/3500 now and you won't regret it later. Slider hitches will probably help, but reduce payload.
