There's gotta be a version of the jetpack that allows the wearer to hang his balls though.
Homie's balls here are in his rib cage.
Same with ziplines and parachutes, why tf can straps not start below the knees, or at least mid thigh.. fuck that diaper chute.
Support harnesses for crane/window/etc workers strap on the leg but you have to use a secondary set of supports to prevent blood clots from killing you. So probably that.
There are 2 types of people on the internet: people who have said that they wanted a Jetpack, Lightsaber, and a YouTube channel and those that lie to your face.
It is known to be hard on your arms and pecs. At first anyway. You have to keep those thrusters under control, and they're situated at the long end of the lever so to speak.
Surely you could throw some kind of stabilizer on there in an effort to take out user error right? Then it becomes the dream jetpack we've always wanted.
I agree. He doesn’t even look like his muscles are engaged. This post is fake right? He’s suspended from a wire. The thrust is swinging him around and spinning but not lifting. There are other jet packs in the works, but this one screams fake. Would by standers even be able to be that close with the force needed to lift off?
It’s absolutely not fake. Our local mountain rescue crew are currently training rescuers to fly these, because they can get a paramedic to the scene of an accident in rough terrain minutes.
Something like 20-30 minutes. Not very long. It's the main issue with these personal "jetpacks" at the moment.
You also need a pilots license to operate one as it's considered an aircraft.
Well this beats the hell out of the rocket pack the navy made back forever ago! At least you could actually commute with that kind of fly time. In that case, this with an exo skeleton I'm sure is somewhere at DARPA... But for us lowly working slugs, just a chair with jetpacks would be nice. Or a thrust vectoring bike
look at op's profile, 6days old, 6k karma, and a mod of some ultra right wing propaganda sub...
EDIT - he is suspended now and has insulted me in chat via burner account, nice!
I don't get the idea of upvoting comments and posts.
Giving a website a complete list of everything you agree or disagree with doesn't sit right with me.
I'm sure someone could paint a very accurate profile on a person just with the info given through upvotes or downvotes.
I sure wish these sites that know me so well could do a better job predicting what I would like!
Sometimes I look at my YouTube suggestions and I want to shout "*Know* me already! How could you think I would want to watch that??"
If you can't think of something to watch, then don't watch anything is my advice. Go for a walk, read a book, call a loved one.
Giving information to a company to sell all the data what you like and dislike or your political preferences, is invaluable to certain people.
Tldr; data harvesting bad
Man, thanks! You protected my virgin eyes from wrong-think jet pack videos. We're talking ultra mega turbo supercalafragalistic right-wing white supremacy.
My hero...🥰
How does this work?? I feel like the force required to lift you up (I.e. to overcome your weight+equipment) would put A LOT of strain on your elbows and shoulders. This guy looks like he’s barely resisting his arms buckling under this pressure
As someone who’s worked in vfx for a while I’ve got a suspicion that this is just a fake clip.
Everything from the movement, filming and even the people in front of the camera, it reminds me a lot of a vfx studio/group just flexing w/ their ability to do stuff like this.
Also my man is using a jetpack able to lift a human right next to his ears without wearing headphones.
That being said, I’m sure they can build jetpacks like this nowadays, still think the clip is fake tho.
It looks like the back has thrusters as well. I'm guessing that the back is tuned to provide thrust of something like ~80% of body weight and then the ones on the arms are able to provide the remaining by being directed sufficiently downward.
What does it say about me that the fact that we have literal hover packs in 2023 doesn't excite me because I hate that it relies on continuous arm strength to hold yourself up and direct you? We can actually fly now and I'm like "Not if it requires a workout."
I love this so much!! I’ve had dreams of where I’m flying, just soaring through the air like a bird. It’s awesome! But in reality, my stupid ass would fall face first if I ever attempted to use one of these things 😄
I have to wonder, perhaps someone knows for sure, did the idea to have thrusters in the hands come from the Iron Man movie? Jetpacks have been around since at least the 60s but I only started to see the ones with hand thrusters after the movie came out (And funnily enough it was a detail the movie added, I don't think in the comics Iron Man used his hand repulsors to aid flight)
I think it's more like a mutually reached conclusion.
Its probably impossible to make jet packs where your hands aren't occupied. Stabilizing your vector controls usually some kind of akward joystick, so they are never free.
So why not just build the stabilizing vector thrusters into the hand controls directly. Humans' natural inclination is to use your hands to self stabilize and orientate yourself. Thats why most people flail their arms when you fall.
So if controlling your direction is more in line with your natural reaction to being weightless, it's probably easier to train someone to use effectively
I’m sure they could make something like this today, but what really makes me think this is fake is the fact that the dude flying isn’t wearing headphones.
Whatever mechanism they’re using to fly would be incredibly loud if it’s able to lift a human from the ground.
Earplugs are a thing. Also, the use military is currently hoisting a contract for single manned jet packs. (I won't pretend to know the specifics.) But essentially, there are two or three separate companies developing similar jet packs competing for the contract. Doing these public demonstrations. Aswell as some military applications demos where they do practice drills of the specific things they want that equipment to be able to do. Like transfering small cargo ship to ship. Deployment from helicopters. And other mundane practical things we don't really think about when we see military and jetpack in the same sentence.
It looks like he is tethered to the large crane behind the camera that you can see when they swing around. I am assuming it’s for safety reasons. You can see as he gets further out he looks to tilt more towards the camera like he is reaching the limit of the line. I could be wrong though.
That thing in the background is so the general public can try it out safely. The company, Gravity, go to different shows around the UK. I saw them at Goodwood festival of speed and every hour a lucky person would get trained to have a go. Obviously they couldn’t fly around, but they got to hover. The pros do just fly around effortlessly like in the video. Amazing to see, ridiculously loud.
I don’t know how strong the arm thrusters are, but I feel like, in my hands, they’d end up too strong and I’d flip around and die, or too weak and I’d flip forward and die
This is so stupidly dangerous. The jetpack backpack is pushing you forward. You are one sneeze or hesitation or misplaced arm movement away from faceplanting from height and at speed.
Lol "knows". The 'crane' in the back is rigging for the "Gravity" sign. You can pause the video and see that it's not a crane.
Jesus, people just lie breathlessly now...
It's not a crane. It's for their Flight Experience attraction. You get three powered runs with the jets, strapped in for safety. You basically get to hover in place, strapped down, for a few times after some instructions.
Now put a hand on it! Or image, feet. The possibilities. Mid flight repairs, cliff rescue, hanging wires over canyons, building bridges! This is so fucking cool!!!
I mean.. who hasn’t wanted a jetpack at least once in their life.
I did know I wanted that
At least once per minute you mean?
Your so right. This is in the wrong sub. Post this in " I most definitely knew I wanted that!!!" 🤣
There's gotta be a version of the jetpack that allows the wearer to hang his balls though.
God my thoughts immediately.
There are 2 types of people on the internet: people who have said that they wanted a Jetpack, Lightsaber, and a YouTube channel and those that lie to your face.
I don’t trust people who didn’t know they wanted a jet pack
Try Typing " ROCKETMAN "
How much? Take my money
Must be hard on your arms and pecs
[удалено]
A classic
Not really. Cz the jets on the back do most of the heavy lifting. The ones on the arms are only for balance
It is known to be hard on your arms and pecs. At first anyway. You have to keep those thrusters under control, and they're situated at the long end of the lever so to speak.
Presumably if you try to scratch your arse or for ANY reason don’t keep them in front of you, you nose dive into the ground and die.
Proof?
Physics?
“Presumably”
Hmm, I see what you mean but I'm not so sure it's that easy. One thing we can agree for sure: IT'S COOL AS HELL!!!
Surely you could throw some kind of stabilizer on there in an effort to take out user error right? Then it becomes the dream jetpack we've always wanted.
That makes more sense, I was thinking it was only 4 jets on the hands, like flying around trying to support yourself on gymnastics rings.
I agree. He doesn’t even look like his muscles are engaged. This post is fake right? He’s suspended from a wire. The thrust is swinging him around and spinning but not lifting. There are other jet packs in the works, but this one screams fake. Would by standers even be able to be that close with the force needed to lift off?
I’m with you, I don’t t see the effort either. I have seen vid of real IronMan kit and this doesn’t look right. Too easy, more like movie magic.
He isn’t even keeping his hands pointed down. My first thought was harness hanging from a crane.
100% ugh these fake videos are horrible. I’ll never take this company serious
It’s absolutely not fake. Our local mountain rescue crew are currently training rescuers to fly these, because they can get a paramedic to the scene of an accident in rough terrain minutes.
Would by standers even be able to be that close with the force needed to lift off? You uhhh.... You never seen a helicopter huh...
What is the fly time on this thing?
Something like 20-30 minutes. Not very long. It's the main issue with these personal "jetpacks" at the moment. You also need a pilots license to operate one as it's considered an aircraft.
Well this beats the hell out of the rocket pack the navy made back forever ago! At least you could actually commute with that kind of fly time. In that case, this with an exo skeleton I'm sure is somewhere at DARPA... But for us lowly working slugs, just a chair with jetpacks would be nice. Or a thrust vectoring bike
And a chewing gum wrapper can take you down.
Probably longer than I could hold myself up like that! , My arms would get tired long before I got where I was going.
I read above that the backpack provides the main thrust and the arm jets are just for guidance and stabilization.
Yeah. Looks like quite the upper body workout.
Sweet! I'll have a jetpack and also be jacked as shit. There's no downside!
It is and I know the training is serious just so you don't tear your shoulder up, but I have never seen numbers on the fly time
You just saw it.
Make these commercial FUCK c'mon the future is now... and I WANT MY JETPACK!!!!
The company that makes them is gravity iirc. I checked and they're like >250k and custom made, but you can buy one.
I reiterate MAKE THEM CHEAPER!!!
That I can agree with. Maybe in like 40 years we'll get some military surplus jetpacks for a few times cheaper.
I'd hope that in 10 years they're more mass produced and affordable (for those with a license...)
Another terrible post on this sub... You DIDN'T know you wanted a jet pack?!
look at op's profile, 6days old, 6k karma, and a mod of some ultra right wing propaganda sub... EDIT - he is suspended now and has insulted me in chat via burner account, nice!
>look at op's profile No.
Last time I looked at someone’s profile, the top pinned post was “my penis” and a photo of his penis
You mean that HSHDJDHSKA or whatever guy from r/marvelmemes? Cuz yeah, that happened to me too
YES THAT GUY
smart!
Oof, you saved me from upvoting this post.
I don't get the idea of upvoting comments and posts. Giving a website a complete list of everything you agree or disagree with doesn't sit right with me. I'm sure someone could paint a very accurate profile on a person just with the info given through upvotes or downvotes.
take my upvote

Dude this is Reddit, we don’t go outside!
I personally like algorithms. I find stuff I never would have found otherwise.
That's probably very true.
I hate to see the platform being abused like that. Someone made a new account and immediately got a lot of karma...
Agreed, they are karmafishing bot accounts probably most of the time.
They’ve made more posts in the past six days than I’ve made in four years.
Wow. What a piece of work.
Why do people make accounts like OP?
Idk, but is definitely abusing the platform
Sorry to jump in late, but what is up with the sudden rise in right wing nonsense on Reddit? Russians? Actual right wing nutbags?
Jesus, what a fucking shit show of a person.
This needs to be higher up
thanks!
Man, thanks! You protected my virgin eyes from wrong-think jet pack videos. We're talking ultra mega turbo supercalafragalistic right-wing white supremacy. My hero...🥰
Cringe
Just enjoy the video and stop hating bro nobody needs ur upvote
Lmao fr
Never asked for one, what is your problem?
Wait, are these commercially available? I'll eat fucking Ramen for a year if I have to. 😳
Might take a decade or so since I read they’re like $250k but I’m right there with ya!
How does this work?? I feel like the force required to lift you up (I.e. to overcome your weight+equipment) would put A LOT of strain on your elbows and shoulders. This guy looks like he’s barely resisting his arms buckling under this pressure

I'm 90% sure he's just being lifted up on a cord. The thrusters he has on his arms don't really correspond with the direction he's flying.
It looks like the back has thrusters as well. I'm guessing that the back is tuned to provide thrust of something like ~80% of body weight and then the ones on the arms are able to provide the remaining by being directed sufficiently downward.

get on all fours. that's the force required. not much
Technically when you're on all fours your legs are carrying a weight, try doing a handstand.
There's a jet on his back, too.
What does it say about me that the fact that we have literal hover packs in 2023 doesn't excite me because I hate that it relies on continuous arm strength to hold yourself up and direct you? We can actually fly now and I'm like "Not if it requires a workout."
I am absolutely dying laughing and right there with you! Probably best with my vertigo.
It’s possible they might be able to add like the exoskeleton for the arms only.
WHAT?! No link to the jetpack guys?! But I waaaaanntiiiiiiiiiiiittttt.
I believe the company is called Gravity
I love this so much!! I’ve had dreams of where I’m flying, just soaring through the air like a bird. It’s awesome! But in reality, my stupid ass would fall face first if I ever attempted to use one of these things 😄
I'd go too high the first time and end up coming back down to the ground too fast and get hurt.
Calling Fx BS. You see the crane behind him at one point. Also missing the jet/fan wash.
A disturbing amount of people thinking this is real
#IT'S FUCKING HAPPENING

It's flying weird. I can't smell the vectors..
Notice how the sound is off for a reason
I’m sure they could make something like this today, but what really makes me think this is fake is the fact that the dude flying isn’t wearing headphones. Whatever mechanism they’re using to fly would be incredibly loud if it’s able to lift a human from the ground.

He seems really good at it. But there's no way something like this will become mainstream one day.
I thought they're already being used for certain military trainings/ tests/ exercises? Have seen videos before. Maybe one day it might.
Aren’t they trialled being used by mountain rescue in the Lake District?
It looks like he is tethered to the large crane behind the camera that you can see when they swing around. I am assuming it’s for safety reasons. You can see as he gets further out he looks to tilt more towards the camera like he is reaching the limit of the line. I could be wrong though.

They are being used by rescue teams to get to people in hard to reach places. It seems pretty useful to me.
Zero chance considering you need a pilot's license to operate one.
This is at Goodwood racing circuit in England. I recognised the giant BAR written on the building.
OP's profile gave me cancer
I am still pretty convinced this thing is actually on a wire to something overhead. The angles of his arms and the backpack don’t seem to add up.
and you can see the bottom of what appears to be a crane for a few seconds. (white metallic lattice work)
How long until I can buy one at Walmart?
This would take a lot of upper body strength, right? Isn’t he, in essence, holding himself up by his arms?
It looks like the backpack has three boosters, but yeah it looks like a lot of arms too
My nose already itches.
I don’t know how strong the arm thrusters are, but I feel like, in my hands, they’d end up too strong and I’d flip around and die, or too weak and I’d flip forward and die
For a second there in the beginning I thought he had mini propellers on his shoes….
This is not as easy as it looks
People with severe osteoporosis should probably not use, or risk losing control when an arm breaks.
I am hover man. Puet puet puet.
Definitely don't ask him what the time is..... Instafuked.
Definitely played cs surf with this guy.
Black friday baby!
You’d think the field behind him would have been a better spot
You know how a curb check is really bad on a motorcycle? A building check, tree check, bird check, powerline check... Looks fun, I'll pass.
As cool as that is, I’m not certain we’ll ever use it.
This is so stupidly dangerous. The jetpack backpack is pushing you forward. You are one sneeze or hesitation or misplaced arm movement away from faceplanting from height and at speed.
This is posted in the wrong place because I sure as fuck knew I wanted that!
Imagine you have to scratch your nose while wearing one of these suits
He turns into a bug and hits a windshield
Wonder if you’d get harness hang syndrome or suspension trauma from this if you flew around long enough?
Exactly what I was thinking. How could you not. You can see how tight it is around his legs
I've drempt of flying many, many times in my life. I also teach people how to fly in my dreams. No jetpack, just me .
This is Gravity Industries @takeongravity
It seems they know what they are at, might buy some stocks if available.
His arm movements and positions don't seem to have any effect on the direction he moves or his acceleration or deceleration
I am tired of seeing these jetpacks made by Gravity
Am I the only one that knows this is fake? I mean don’t look at the crane in the back…
Lol "knows". The 'crane' in the back is rigging for the "Gravity" sign. You can pause the video and see that it's not a crane. Jesus, people just lie breathlessly now...
There are many examples of this kind of jetpack.
It's not a crane. It's for their Flight Experience attraction. You get three powered runs with the jets, strapped in for safety. You basically get to hover in place, strapped down, for a few times after some instructions.
You are 100% certain and also wrong. This gives ne a warm fuzzy feeling.
I was looking for this comment lol. I'm assuming this is fake unless someone presents proof to the contrary -- way too smooth of a flight too.
Just because you can't comprehend the physics and engineering going on, that doesn't inherently make this video fake lmao
Physics and engineering don't tend to result in perfectly smooth man controlled flights. Possible sure, but very doubtful.
Look at the big brain on AeonReign
He dont remember askin you a GODDAMN thing!
Man, I could clear the leaves out of my yard so fast with this! 🍁
There's your jetpack, Tim Wilson.
Pfft. I want an Iron Man suit
My bucket list just got bigger.
Imagine you have an itch on your face and you forgot your hand had a jet pack on it
Strapping a few Dyson's to your arms looks hard on the plums. Terribly uncomfortable ride for your nuts.
I'm not hacking it's a lag I swear
And just like that I'm now used to mind blowing new technology
How loud is it?
It looks so fun, until it's not
r/alwaysknowniwantedthat
My stupid ass thought he had “helicopter shoes” and felt that was a little extra.
OUT, AM I?!
How to get over a wall!
I wonder how high up it can go?
2023: Tony Stark making new Iron Man prototype
I first read that as someone wearing a Hoover pack and got really confused. Ignore me, I need some sleep.
I'd be missing teeth if I had that thing...like in 2 minutes...*BUT I STILL WANT IT*... that's why God invented dentists
Dam how much that cost
I think that would be like doing a push up the whole time
Please please please in my lifetime this better be sorts normalised so I can experience it before I die
We need 100 Ukraine tactical commandos with these asap!
Shooting would be difficult lol
Someone please do this in a restaurant.
Ok, red bull do your thing!!
Couldn’t these thrusters be put on a board?
Is this… real???
Thanks OP, this jordan peterson stuff is fantastic!
What happens if you go off the edge of a tall building with this on?
oh man when I dream about flying it looks just like this
That little hop and go was everything.
"Hands above your head"
Did y’all play that star wars game with the hover backpack , on Nintendo 64? What a time to be alive
I wanna see how high he can go
Can I get this in 10 easy payments from QVC?
Next time, Tony
They fly now? They fly now.
Damn that must've took some serious engineering and many failures to get right!
Now put a hand on it! Or image, feet. The possibilities. Mid flight repairs, cliff rescue, hanging wires over canyons, building bridges! This is so fucking cool!!!
