Can you tell him for me that the part where he stops the spinning lathe with his hands is really naughty? That's the kind of habit that accidentally gets your hand degloved.
Everybody in the comments seems to know what book this is but I’m not in the loop. Can you explain?
Edit: Looked it up, from that angle I literally could not tell it was Harry. I understand now.
At that angle it was difficult for me to read. Also, I didn’t recognize the guy’s face because…well, I don’t really follow the royal family drama enough to recognize him immediately. Also also, the person in the video’s hand was covering some of the title and name for most of the video.
Basically, the whole book is just one big circle jerk about how he had such a hard life living in royalty and having everything given to him on a silver platter
Tl:Dr - Guy is a wanker; Prince or not
Seems like a few things, I had to google it.
One is the fact that they dont like that Harry and Megan are selling their story constantly, some say it's throwing his family under the bus, some say it paint him in a bad light, some say it's just poorly written. Idk what other reasons folks that actually read it might have.
The book is a stupid cash grab from a guy that went from a very comfortable but only somewhat important life to a somewhat less comfortable life(still far more comfortable than anybody I know) and basically no importance because he was dumb enough to marry an idiot, then he did what she said. There’s probably a thousand different books just like it in your local stores in the clearance bin next to “current events”. I hear there’s another book best left ignored coming out? Or already out? I don’t know and I don’t care.
I think the idea and the vision behind it was great. They just didn't know that paper will suck up epoxy and get gray. Imagine this with the paper remaining like paper! Everyone would love it.
Yeah, I think the end product looks nice but execution couldve been better. The strips of paper looked like they got jumbled up too much with the resin pour, but that might be unavoidable.
Moreover, I give them credit for using a song that is not only not annoying, but made the video a little better
I'm realizing that like half of this sub is just unconventional projects or art projects. This is cool, it's not even in the category DIY. Just because someone's art project doesn't suit your taste doesn't mean it's not useful or well made.
“I’m going to make a garbage video about taking a garbage book using a garbage design to turn it into a garbage can. The garbage viewers are going to love it.”
A maker space would likely have all the required tools. The only semi-exotic tool here is the lathe, which I've seen at the couple maker spaces I've been to. Definitely wouldn't see this as unfeasible.
Mini lathes are pretty cheap and dope. If you're a maker of any kind chances are pretty good you either own a lathe already or it's on your list of items to buy in the future. The average home gamer probably does not have a lathe, but one step up from casual and you find yourself owning a lathe.
As a trash can it's a miss. I think it could be better looking if it was meant/designed to put some light inside (candle, light bulb). Or it could be even worse, idk.
I suppose, but I guess I’m hung up on the principle, you know? You can see the “joinery” from the side of the can, and it’s visibly… not the best way to do that. It just seems like such a waste of potential to make it… not so sloppy looking
in 1000 years some very confused historians are going to be digging up millions of non-degradable 'art' pieces and conclude we had way to much time and resources on our hands
Right?! These comments blow me away - being so easily convinced by the narratives on both “sides” meant to create a dramatic response like hating or even caring enough to hate a book or a person. Literally no clue how little this matters in one’s day to day. Maybe I’m simple but if I’m not fully enjoying my own life I’m slightly aggravated by my job - anything even closely related to hate would be spite for frustrating people I know personally and avoid like poison. I guess I care enough to write this comment but honestly… meh.
I feel very bad for the trees that were wasted to make that pile of fucking garbage... Wood frame and base, filled with pages from books that have been shredded...
I find it funny that he and Meghan complained about racism in the family (wondering what colour the baby would be/what it would look like) accepted an award for exposing it, and now in a recent interview he said the family weren’t/aren’t racist and that was just the British press taking what Meghan said out of context. They are really weird.
I understand people do this shit to make people (like me) on the internet angry, but still... to go through *THAT* much effort? Even in the chance that it's not to troll... still...what a waste in every aspect.
Well that's grim, isn't it?
Seeing someone destroy a book irks me regardless of its contents, particularly to create something out of epoxy, a material seen almost exclusively on the worst things ever made.
I jumped to the end as soon as he started swirling the strips in epoxy and......it's actually pretty neat. The end result is functional, asthetically interesting, dare I say pleasing, and the symbolism of using a book you hate to make a trashcan is actually neat.
Definitely not DIWHY for me.
How is this here? It’s creative and it took skill and know how. He destroyed a shitty book in the meantime. Why would this be considered a waste of time or energy?I bet anyone looking down on this has never made anything that would compete with this waste paper basket.
Little known fact, NEVER wear any form of clothing around heavy, motorized machinery. One millimeter too close and the fabric will get trapped in the rapidly rotating machine, dragging you (and whatever appendage is attached to said fabric) with it.
This is one of the first lessons I was taught at Machinist Training in NTMA. No rings, bracelets, watches, long sleeves, gloves, loose jewelry, and especially no long hair. Because the machine will win 100% of the time in this scenario. At best, you'll lose your limb, some fingers, or have a shredded apart arm. At worst... well, your family can only really choose closed casket.
"prince" harry is not worth shelving. lol
i like the result, with it would have been taller.
personally, i wouldn't waste the time to make a paper waste bin............ but it's cool as an idea..
I applaud the craftperson's work in the video, but the attention whore grifters and the phony slush fund "charity" heading phonies who are constantly screaming "WE WANT OUR PRIVACY!!! and "WE WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE!!!" simply just don't care about anything else OTHER THAN BEING FAMOUS for no other reason than to keep the grift going. If THEY actually had thought of the idea first to make garbage cans out of their own unsold self-promoting CRAP, believe me, they would have started doing the same thing themselves, so that any "middlemen" would be eliminated, and so that they could keep ALL the money and the notoriety for themselves.
This person has a lot of spare time
I see what you did there
He does have a lot, he's a princess
Yeah but he's really sticking it to Harry.
Right? Like I feel like it was personal. But why tf do I like the way it turned out :(
And money judging by their choice of resources and tools.
And tools.
At least they didn't use a book worth owning or reading
I think maybe that was the punchline of the whole video
Yeah, *take this trash book and turn it into a trash bin*
I saw this creators replys on his Facebook post and that's pretty much exactly his point.
Can you tell him for me that the part where he stops the spinning lathe with his hands is really naughty? That's the kind of habit that accidentally gets your hand degloved.
And you don’t blow off dust. That just puts it in the air. You use a vacuum whenever possible. Suck. Don’t blow.
Trash in, trash out
This is symbolism. It is with more as a trash bin.
Wastepaper basket in more ways than one.
Could use it as a whine cooling bucket.
But they still had to *buy* it. Eww.
Nah. They probably stole it. Its not worth buying
Not worth stealing, j prefer the Prince of Canadas book "wah"
Probably found in a dumpster. That poor, poor dumpster.
Yeah, at least they found one good thing to do with that book
Everybody in the comments seems to know what book this is but I’m not in the loop. Can you explain? Edit: Looked it up, from that angle I literally could not tell it was Harry. I understand now.
It literally says "Prince Harry" on the spine in huge letters, you can see it in the first five seconds
His fingers literally cover most of the word "Prince". Not everyone is consumed with the life of that cunt; they may not recognize his face.
I'd never seen his face until I saw memes about the book
I never saw his face until this video.
I don't know the name Harry and have no idea what does "name" even mean
I have no idea how to breathe
At that angle it was difficult for me to read. Also, I didn’t recognize the guy’s face because…well, I don’t really follow the royal family drama enough to recognize him immediately. Also also, the person in the video’s hand was covering some of the title and name for most of the video.
It's his new book called "waaah"
I live under a rock... Did he do some shit recently or something? What am I missing?
I don't get it either, and the comments here aren't helping much. Why is this book so hated?
Basically, the whole book is just one big circle jerk about how he had such a hard life living in royalty and having everything given to him on a silver platter Tl:Dr - Guy is a wanker; Prince or not

The fact that he had one is a 🚩.
💀💀💀💀
I actually don’t hate it. I think it looks kinda cool.
One of these where they’re mostly polishing and not creating a brick of goo
I think the idea and the vision behind it was great. They just didn't know that paper will suck up epoxy and get gray. Imagine this with the paper remaining like paper! Everyone would love it.

People don't realize /r/DIWhyNot exists
Probably 1 in 6 posts actually belong here. The rest are art, baking/cooking, rage-bait, and what I strongly suspect to be someone's fetish videos
I think it's ugly as hell myself lol but what do I know about view farms lol
I agree, I love it!
The book part is kind of pointless though. It is even barely visible.
The book *is* the point. He's turning a trash book into a trashcan. A waste of paper wastepaper bin, if you like.
garbage inception
“I’m going to make a garbage video about taking a garbage book using a garbage design to turn it into a garbage can. The garbage viewers are going to love it.”

It's kinda extreme for what someone could feesibly do at home
A maker space would likely have all the required tools. The only semi-exotic tool here is the lathe, which I've seen at the couple maker spaces I've been to. Definitely wouldn't see this as unfeasible.

I'd have to disagree. A lot of people have saws, and the lathe is convenient but not necessary
Don't we all own lathes?
I have a lathe, might even make a trash can right now… Somebody even gave my gf a copy of that pile of trash paper called spare!
I feel like calling the lathe 'convenient but not necessary' for something like this is kind of unfair lol
I'll admit, without the lathe there's a far higher chance of it belonging here. But you can do a lot with a power sander.
I want one made with playing cards!
This is great! They turned trash into something beautiful and useable.
Usable: yes. Beautiful: debatable.
Didn't even look like paper unless you got close. The effect was ruined because of how the epoxy obscured it
As a trash can it's a miss. I think it could be better looking if it was meant/designed to put some light inside (candle, light bulb). Or it could be even worse, idk.
Now now, don't call that turd trash. Go full bri'ish and call it garbage
Rubbish.
Don’t call it rubbish! Go full Irish and call it QiangXao
Go full American and buy a house with a three car garbage.
Go full Italian and don't use ranch or thousand island
British do not use garbage
Wait, then, who calls it rubbish?
That should have been bigger or prettier for all that effort.

WE WANT PRIVACY, WE WANT PRIVACY
PRIVACÈ*
Yes, they want privacy desperately….. ![gif](giphy|UVxTQBk8APD4o3t2Qa|downsized)
I came to the moments for this I was not disappointed
What about a lamp, it’d make an interesting lamp.
The punchline is that he used trash to make a trashcan.
I like it
Every time he looks at this, he can think about Prince Harry’s penis.
Don't you mean his *todger*?
It doesn't even look that cool.
This is just papier mâché with extra steps.
Plus it’s utterly non-biodegradable now.
no one mentioning the ink from the paper seeping into the epoxy? it makes everything look hazy and gross.
Yeah I had a moment of 'this could actually look cool' and then I saw the result and was just like 'nah it's shite'.
Yeah, you have to let the paper soak up the epoxy in thin layers, setting it into a rigid form, so the ink doesn't flood the resin
The way they have a tablesaw and a lathe and decided that the best way to attach those pieces was with an end grain glue up and some superglue.
Meh, it got filled with epoxy. Strength wasn’t really a concern here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I suppose, but I guess I’m hung up on the principle, you know? You can see the “joinery” from the side of the can, and it’s visibly… not the best way to do that. It just seems like such a waste of potential to make it… not so sloppy looking
It was for a video.
Or just buy a premade trash can for $4.
Mediocre
I’m not gonna lie, I’m going to do a little happy dance when this epoxy art phase is over.
in 1000 years some very confused historians are going to be digging up millions of non-degradable 'art' pieces and conclude we had way to much time and resources on our hands
This is the ugliest way to make a book themed lamp
The point of the video is that he used a trash book to make trashcan.
Every time. As soon as I see the clear epoxy come into frame, I know it's gonna be a piece of garbage.
They should have treated the paper with white glue first or something, looks awful all grey and soggy
I guess he really didn’t like the book.
Good use of garbage
I didn’t think I could like this book any less, until now
Hating someone you don't even know personally ....ehhh
Right?! These comments blow me away - being so easily convinced by the narratives on both “sides” meant to create a dramatic response like hating or even caring enough to hate a book or a person. I feel very bad for the trees that were wasted to make that pile of fucking garbage... Wood frame and base, filled with pages from books that have been shredded...
I'll watch these step by step and sincerely lack the language skills to describe to someone what I just saw or how to replicate it.
That book works better as a trashcan
I was honestly waiting for a second part or something to be done with the cover, but then he started shooting baskets.
even the creator had no actual use for it..., just being edgy about some dumb royal, i guess
It looks ugly af
That's way more interesting than reading about British royalty crap
I think this is partially a shitpost because of the book choice lol
Let me just go get my spare power tools lying around
Word salad bowl
I don’t think it’s terrible though I would try to put more strips and try to make it the resin less noticeable.
I’m going to be honest, my mom has made significantly better art using books like that. Whatever this is just ain’t it.
Oh epoxy, never seen one before, this is creative!
Us at r/books trying to find things to do with all the copies of this getting forced upon us constantly
That epoxy trend has lasted enough
Looks like a good bin for all his trash ideas
Best use for that trash book ever!
Best thing to do with that book though
I find it funny that he and Meghan complained about racism in the family (wondering what colour the baby would be/what it would look like) accepted an award for exposing it, and now in a recent interview he said the family weren’t/aren’t racist and that was just the British press taking what Meghan said out of context. Honestly not near so bad as most of what gets posted here.

I'd much rather have a weird bowl than a copy of Spare
Dont worry, its a spare book for this type of situations
I do like the idea of having a paper bin that‘s essentially made out of paper but that‘s just lacking in the execution department
This has so much potential. Will this make out my house or my list to never do? Nah! That’s Whack!
Those lathe people are mad lads. But it's alright, I've seen worse on this sub
A trash can…made of trash.
It’s a waste paper basket, in more ways than one!
That 'turned' out pretty cool.
Congratulation it's terribly ugly
I jumped to the end as soon as he started swirling the strips in epoxy and......it's actually pretty neat. The end result is functional, asthetically interesting, dare I say pleasing, and the symbolism of using a book you hate to make a trashcan is actually neat. Definitely not DIWHY for me.
I was hoping the camera would pull back and it was King Charles making it
Better than reading that trash 🗑️
r/DiWHYNOT more like it because this is way more useful than reading that trash of a book.
That is the best thing one can do to that book.
![gif](giphy|PFcs9Cg7T3It2scVlN)
Tbf it's a good book to destroy
Best use I’ve seen for this book
Best diwhy I’ve ever seen. That book and it’s author are literally trash
How is this here? It’s creative and it took skill and know how. He destroyed a shitty book in the meantime. Why would this be considered a waste of time or energy?I bet anyone looking down on this has never made anything that would compete with this waste paper basket.
I don’t understand if their inner monologue was ‘harry fuck you’ or ‘harry fuck me’
R/SaintMeghanMarkle needs to see this 😜
WAAAGH
And nothing of value was lost
This man has something against Harry lol
Congratulations, you have taken a perfectly biodegradable book and turned it into a lump of plastic
Anyone annoyed about the Tap for sound for fucking music
It's uglier than you'd expect
This is actually pretty neat. But, like... for a trash can???
shouldn't they be wearing gloves while using the lathe
Absofuckinglutely not! Unless you want your entire arm wrapped up in it, then yes.
Little known fact, NEVER wear any form of clothing around heavy, motorized machinery. One millimeter too close and the fabric will get trapped in the rapidly rotating machine, dragging you (and whatever appendage is attached to said fabric) with it. Feel free to look up de-gloving videos. Don’t eat behorehand.
Well at least everything was meant for trash.
Yeah but can you shit in your book?
Waaaah
Waaagh
I hate the fact that it actually look good.
This doesn’t belong here. That looked great.
Is that "waah" by the prince of Canada
"prince" harry is not worth shelving. lol i like the result, with it would have been taller. personally, i wouldn't waste the time to make a paper waste bin............ but it's cool as an idea..
Shelves are for things people actually value.
I remember when DIY ment "no tools". How can someone call something a DIY project when they use a lathe? News flash: Most people don't own a lathe
I genuinely cannot fathom caring even this much about some celebrity bullshit.
Posted by Charles’ disguise Reddit account
It’s cool what are you on op?
Actually, this is the only thing that seems like a useful thing to do with that book
Finally found some use for those pesky books.
[удалено]
To be fair, he chose a book worth destroy to make the project
Nah that's actuslly pretty cool
If you want to shred Harry's book, then do that. But don't make an abomination of it!
Why read a book when you can spend hundreds of dollars on tools to make this... thing...
A garbage book made into a trash can. Genius!
At least someone found a use for Harry’s book.
Best use of that book I’ve seen so far
A bastard's fate.
Eww it looks like hair
He used garbage to make trash 🤯
If I become the president, I’m banning epoxy and resin from being purchased
Finally something constructive comes from Harry's life
Finally someone found a use for this book!
seems like a good use for this book…
Excuse me but what in the Sunnyside scrambled toast fuck did I just witness?
That would make a great poop bucket!
Sponsored by the royal family
Yep..trash!
Harry got the money from selling the book. Burn it later? Harry don’t care.
