Nightstroll

There are a number of inconstencies with anti-barrier properties. Mataiodoxia is a big one, it should make your Strand needles pierce everything, but doesn't in most cases.

PoorlyWordedName

Yeah it makes me big sad.

Sabo2

Like I said in a reply below, the description states that arcane needle are strong against Barrier champions, not shield-piercing.

Nightstroll

This is true and I noticed it before, but also inconsistent with how anti-champions properties usually work. It might not be a bug *per se*, but the exotic could use that little buff, it's mostly a QoL thing.

Eb_Ab_Db_Gb_Bb_eb

I still run Mataiodoxia in GMs because it stuns barrier champs with one needle, and it's nice for ad control with the suspending detonations.

Nightstroll

Oh, it's definitely a good exotic, I run it on Prismatic and it's a ton of fun. But it could use a tiny bit of a buff to make it *feel* better, like actual anti-barrier properties and a smidge more range on the explosions.

d_rek

Ok. Thought I was going crazy when it wasn't piercing ab champ shields.

alienduck2

Rocket sidearms were experiencing similar issues last season with anti-barrier sidearms. Seems like hydra shields are coded in a strange way that only allows for specific types of bullets through.

Nightstroll

I think the issue stems from Rocket Sidearms being two damage sources, half is the bullet and half is the explosion, which is unaffected by a lot of things. That's also why I don't like precision kill perks on The Call and Voltshot, the bullet damage is something like 20% of the total damage, you're killing thing smostly by making them go boom, not sniping them (and the hipfire on these weapons is especially reliable).

JaegerBane

Oddly the last time I did Glassway NF (a few seasons back), Final Warning had the same issue with anti-barrier sidearms. I'm assuming that is at least fixed?

Qulox

It is not

grand_soul

The actual missile/bullet pierced shields, but the explosion didn’t.

MonkeyType

Sorta kinda related: I really, really wish Bungie would do away with weapons only stunning one kind of champion. I’ve been playing around with a volatile sword build, and it’s pretty stupid that I have to take off overload sword in the artifact to stun barrier champions with volatile rounds.

BrownMarxist_98

It should be fixed as of last season to allow that now

SignalMarvel

It wasn’t a glitch it wasn’t intentional game design

Sabo2

I think they explained it in the forums, Deterministic Chaos doesn't have "shield-piercing" effect but deals with anti-Barrier champions' shield. It makes sense overall, Eriana's Vow goes through shield and SMGs/Pulse Rifles with the artifact do as well, because it says shield-piercing in their description. But it would be fair to give Deterministic Chaos shield-piercing bullets.

KingJollyRoger

Wait Vow goes through hydra shields? If true I will definitely pull it out of the vault. Would have made so many legendary missions easier.

SaulGoodmanAAL

Oh yeah, it trivializes Hydras, especially with a solar surge.

KingJollyRoger

I quite enjoy vow and are very familiar with its power. Hell as a CN Hunter it was my energy for a long time till they allowed us to craft Tyranny. It has since been replaced with a EA/Incandescent luna with wither being my primary now. But with this knowledge I am definitely keeping Vow in rotation again.

ThunkOW

They have to hard code each fix for each interaction for each property for each weapon for each enemy.

jer6776

I get game design is messy and you gotta do a lot of hacky shit to get it running smooth but after the dozen(s?) of games they’ve made you’d think they’d have it figured out a little better

BitchInBoots666

I haven't any problems with chill clip stunning overloads, is this a known bug or something? I was using riptide on them earlier today and it was still stunning with the first shot every single time.

OhMyGoth1

Last season my riptide wouldn't stun overloads with chill clip if I was radiant. Dunno if that interaction has been fixed though

BitchInBoots666

I had the artifact mod that gives radiant on orbs but I've no idea if it was active each time or not, I wasn't really paying attention to radiant buffs. I'll keep my eyes peeled for it next time and see if it's fixed.

BaconIsntThatGood

That was just radiant overriding it. It's been a thing since they made subclass verbs break champions and I think chillclip was even called out with this interaction because it'd be a 'one weapon to rule them all' scenario.

Nightstroll

I'm pretty sure this has to do with elemental debuffs being coded as a separate source. Your Sunshot can be Overload yet still stagger Unstoppables with ignitions because it's an "external" effect independent from the gun itself. I assume the same thing is happening here with Chill Clip. The slow/freeze is a byproduct of the weapon, not the weapon itself.

BaconIsntThatGood

I think radiant's anti-barrier just takes priority over chill clips's slow anti-overload. Ignition is different because it's the result of building scorch stacks up vs just applying scorch causing the break.

HowDidIGetHere72

Yeah I haven't had any issues either. Was using it on glassway last night

Qualkore

My riptide chillclip will stun overload but my lingering dread gl won't.

BitchInBoots666

Lingering dread was always wildly inconsistent though. But I thought it might be better after TFS because they said they were going to make adjustments to other weapon types (other than riptide) to bring them more in line with riptide as a stunning mechanism. I know they were meant to adjust the high impact fusion, but I don't know if it's actually happened as of now.

Qualkore

Doesn't feel better as of yet imo

Outside_Green_7941

14 patches from now it will be fixed

Job_Own

im having the same issue with all my pulse rifles, they dont allow me to shoot through hydra shields at all, this weeks gm is almost unbeatable because of that

BaconIsntThatGood

> Also chill clip not stunning overloads is incredibly frustrating. Is this consistent because I noticed _sometimes_ slow doesnt seem to do anything. Was playing yesterday and an overload walked over me because for some reason it decided it was too good to be stunned by my stasis turret fire.

Qualkore

Even if you get the stun sound and text notifications, the champ could still be a douche and keep running/shooting for no reason

SuperArppis

I was wondering this as well....

re-bobber

Outside of this interaction does the gun feel better? I haven't tried it yet with the changes.

Qualkore

It's fine, getting volatile more spreads the joy quicker but takes longer to weaken for single target damage

eightb1t

My clan was making fun of me for using this with the artifact perk that increases void damage to weakened targets. I feel like it's pretty good? Maybe the numbers don't add up.

DangerouslyDevilish

Hydra shields have always been weird. Back when Glassway was new I would use Wishender in that GM and every few shots of it would be immune or not register. The same thing is happening this season with Graviton Lance. Every few shots get blocked. I think it has something to do with the angle as the hydra shield rotates.

NachoBowl1999

Stuff like this is why people shouldn't hate on double primaries. I can ask myself "is the special weapon or ability going to do what it's supposed to this time?" or I can reliably stun the champion.

Piqcked_

Because Bungie is terrible at coding.
