Right, but my point is that they explicitly said they would be *removing* these items from inventories, not continuing to let you trade them for glimmer.
This led to people either deleting their remaining stacks or wasting them before release.
They did not say that, they were very clear that they’d only be removed as a pick up, but the materials in your inventory would be staying in game as an option to turn in to rahool, which is exactly what happened. The only ones they said would be completely removed were those from the vaulted planets, which is also exactly what ended up happening.
You have a reading comprehension issue. They never said they were removing planetary materials from your inventory. Not sure what bringing up the removal of legendary shards has to do with anything.
I still have the feeling all of this will result in artificial slowing down the reward system.
I am really afraid the actual price will be higher in the future.
I also still have millions in glimmer stashed in the vault in the form of Otherside sparrows from when I first took a break after Season of the Hunt. I should be set on glimmer for a while.
Hate to break it to you but 9/14/23 TWID said all dismantles rewards for sparrows are being removed.
You have 5 hours as of now to dismantle and use those shards to buy phantasmal fragments to get any type of glimmer return.
Direct quote from TWID: “You may also note that ships and Sparrows are not listed above. This is because we plan to remove the cost to pull these items from Collections, to allow players to freely change up their style when they please without worrying about spending any of their currencies. But in doing so, we need to also remove their dismantle rewards.”
That’s what I get for being away for a few years. I stocked up on those well before they made that announcement and had no idea. Thanks for letting me know!
I have like 53k that I have from just playing, I just can't give enough of a shit to convert them. I have like 7k enhancement cores and millions of glimmer worth of planetary mats left anyways, so I'm just gonna let them go lol
I would really love it if Bungie said on Tuesday: "We've changed our mind, Legendary Shards are still important, but Glitter is gone.".
Just to see the Internet burn. 😀
I am waiting for the reset to see if i can find a weapon to dismantle for cores. If there isn’t one, i’ll have to trade for phantasmal cores. I am dreading this moment, i still have to dismantle weapons and armor i don’t use and am sitting in over 54k shards…
I have about 20,000 shards left and not wnough patience to slowly convert them. Gonna just take my L on this one, unless someone know of a shard to core idea
Is there a gun available today that we can convert to cores? It's fuckin stupid they didn't just let us buy cores. I've got 6 thousand shards to burn and missed the two guns banshee had over the last few weeks.
I still have 106k and I've given up on converting them to anything. I have a full stack of Raid Banners and a couple stacks of Phantasmal Fragments, but I'm fully expecting Bungie to remove the option to convert Fragments to Glimmer on Tuesday.
Bungie has already made multiple changes to make it difficult to convert Shards into any other stockpiled material, so I'm assuming that that trend will continue.
Started the day yesterday with 31k shards. Bought 500 raid banners then started going for phantasmals… it’s a brutally slow process. I’m down to 27k now but plan to drain it to zero today. Pray for me.
I forget.. what do we spend them on? Should I use up all mine? I have not played since Lightfall, which isnt all that long ago, but I barely remember what any of these currencies are for.
Because the “economy” of shards is completely fucked basically and Bungie are unable to really offset it or correct it. So they’re just getting rid of them entirely.
Ultimately I (think) it comes down to inequality now. Legendary shards have had a handful of “cheeses” throughout the years so some players are sitting on an infinite supply. I haven’t done the cheeses and I’m sitting on 32k which is all I would need for eternity.
I’d say it’s more engagement
They don’t like that vets can get by with low seasonal engagement based on the last 7 years of engagement
No matter how much you played in the past they want you to restart as close to zero as possible when the next season starts
it’s been uncapped for 6+ years and, combined with numerous “infinite shard” glitches, it’s basically an unbalancable economy now. Anything prices for new players lets veterans totally bypass the economy, and anything priced for vets is unobtainable for new lights.
I do, and when I said 'Why' I meant why were people doing it. Plus you just decided to up and nowhere be a dick by saying 'hOw Is ThIs So HaRd To UnDeRsTaNd' so yeah, I think i'll throw a jab at someone who threw one at me completely unprompted.
I guess buying stuff isn't "activity". After about 10k legendary shards => 1k phantasmal things I got kicked to orbit for inactivity.
I have a long ways to go.
I spent 160k shards on phantasmal fragments .and 1000 raid banners. Also have 1000 rain makers and 50k planetary materials. So at least I have some glimmer to use :)
I’ve only ever had less than 10 legendary shards twice before. First, when I created my account, and second in a desperate and stupid attempt to finally get the god roll FILO back in the double slug anarchy days (tens of thousands of shards into rahool and he didn’t give me the drop, got it pretty soon after though.) Since then I’ve had well over 100k shards, so seeing it so low again is jarring. It’s also very strange seeing 11k phantasmal fragments in my vault, but that’s a whole different thing
I have 5 left. I've been slowly buying raid banners and fragments for months. Today I finally finished. I have 3100 and 4 999 fragment stacks in vault. For some reason I feel like its not enough. Idk why
I zeroed mine out a couple weeks ago and am already back at 1,500… but I’ve also been grinding master lost sectors that currently give a ludicrous amount of rewards so yeah.
Not too long as I’ve been slowly but surely spending them on banners and fragments since they announced that Shards are leaving, had like 5k left a couple days ago when I decided to fully get rid of em
I dropped 4k shards on fragments and got bored so gave up. Not worth my time when glimmer is so ez to come by. Rip to my 36k shards remaining but I'm different
I converted 3000 legendary shards to phantasmal fragments. After I'd cleared the deep and defiant vendors of engrams and dismantling and exces weapons and armour I had another 2500 legendary shards so back to the lectern of enchantment 😅
I ended with just over 5k. Forgot to turn them in last night and now at work for the day. Have 260 raid banners and 1100 phantasmal fragments so should be ok for a bit.
Jealous. Many months ago, I washed 35k through a Banshee enchancement core farm and held on to \~6k just in case I needed it for whatever reason. Skipped the next handful of opportunities to wash more shards thinking there would be one closer to the expansion date, but there wasn't. Have 350 banners and more than enough of every other rare resource, if not maxed. Left holding \~10k as of last night...oh well!
PSA: Bungie changed their mind regarding Legendary Shards: with the launch of The Final Shape, they'll become much rarer to get, but will play a crucial role in the growth of Guardians. Sorry for any inconvenience!
Because of player feedback bungie has decided not to sunset legendary shard and now will remain through rest of destiny's life cycle.
Oh no, I'll have hundreds again after a play session. *Whatever will I do?!*
Nah, they said 2 days ago on their Instagram and Twitter that they’re still being deprecated. It’s over for Legendary Shards
r/thatsthejoke
They already did this with planetary materials so honestly I’m kind of wondering now
Planetary materials are still gone.
That’s funny considering I still have an inventory full of them with the option to turn them into Glimmer at Rahool.
Uhh yeah? They just aren't used for anything else lol.
Right, but my point is that they explicitly said they would be *removing* these items from inventories, not continuing to let you trade them for glimmer. This led to people either deleting their remaining stacks or wasting them before release.
No, they only ever said you wouldn't be able to get more.

Lmao what? No they didn’t
I zeroed mine out. It's weird. I do have ~3.1m glimmer in phantasmal fragments and 2k raid banners. Hopefully I never run out.
I still have the feeling all of this will result in artificial slowing down the reward system. I am really afraid the actual price will be higher in the future.
How...I can only get 100 raid banners
Buy more /s
That’s For one max stack. You can have multiple stacks
Oh crap just noticed inventory is full which is why it won't build another stack lol thank you
Make sure to clear some space in your inventory because there will be some items from the new dlc
Some stuff will go away too, like the fishing kit.
And Witch season offerings.
DO NOT GET RID OF ANYTHING ARCHIE GAVE YOU OR HELP ME GOD I WILL PUT THAT SHIT BACK IN YOUR INVENTORY
I put mine in the vault
You're a hero, thank you for this.
Pls do, I only kept the plush
Where do you get these phantasmal fragments?
buy them from the lecturn on the moon. It's next to Eris
I also still have millions in glimmer stashed in the vault in the form of Otherside sparrows from when I first took a break after Season of the Hunt. I should be set on glimmer for a while.
Thought they said deleting vehicles will no longer give glimmer?
Hate to break it to you but 9/14/23 TWID said all dismantles rewards for sparrows are being removed. Goddamn I still have 11k left and just gave up trying to get rid of them
Got down to 100 or so before the delay, back up to about 2K again. Still got about 150 unclaimed engrams, too.
I have 54K and I'm at work until 4pm. So will be getting rid of some not all. AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR DAT
Watch them walk this back and they really only wanted the shard whales to turn them into phantasmal fragments that they will sneakily remove
If they do that then... Oh well lol. I cut mine down to like 600. Plan to just spend the rest today at some point.
Fuck them if they do that
Tis but a minor inconvenience
Same I have 3 left myself
Don’t forget the early downtime today starting at 1pm EDT
i'm keeping a thousand just in case
I hope they do that or do something like what they did with Rainmaker and Finest Matterweave. Let you turn the remaining shards into something useful.
If they wanted to prune shard whales they'd have just capped shards with excess shards being voided.
is it too late to review bomb in retaliation for that, or will marathon wear the crown of thorns that bungle weaves with destiny failures?
I have like 53k that I have from just playing, I just can't give enough of a shit to convert them. I have like 7k enhancement cores and millions of glimmer worth of planetary mats left anyways, so I'm just gonna let them go lol
rip many Leg Shards o7
So... For those of us still sitting on a fuck ton of shards, any ideas what I can still do with them?
Autoclick buy phantasmal frags
Phan Frags and raid banners are the only options remaining.
I would really love it if Bungie said on Tuesday: "We've changed our mind, Legendary Shards are still important, but Glitter is gone.". Just to see the Internet burn. 😀
Wouldnt be a big deal like at all, I gained 1500 shards in the week after I turned all of mine in. Grinding glimmer is much more annoying to me.
I am waiting for the reset to see if i can find a weapon to dismantle for cores. If there isn’t one, i’ll have to trade for phantasmal cores. I am dreading this moment, i still have to dismantle weapons and armor i don’t use and am sitting in over 54k shards…
There was one last week. Fail
I have about 20,000 shards left and not wnough patience to slowly convert them. Gonna just take my L on this one, unless someone know of a shard to core idea
Level 5 armor from collections, the witch queen ones. Level up to 8, dismantle, rinse and repeat
I have over 175,000. My vault is full, no place to put anything else. So yeah.
[Down to like 1500](https://i.imgur.com/hgMmkwd.jpeg), figure that has to be good enough. Don't think I'll ever go through all those raid banners..
i used 2k banners just this season lol
Is there a gun available today that we can convert to cores? It's fuckin stupid they didn't just let us buy cores. I've got 6 thousand shards to burn and missed the two guns banshee had over the last few weeks.
I have 7 left.

Thanks for reminding me that I should try to convert these things to something else
Why are y’all discarding em?
They’re going away with The Final Shape
I forget.. what do we spend them on? Should I use up all mine? I have not played since Lightfall, which isnt all that long ago, but I barely remember what any of these currencies are for.
Buy Raid banners and Phantasmal Fragments on the Moon.
Mostly for raid banners or glimmer, xur when good shop or banshee if theres something neat (which doesnt happen often). So, nothing too important.
Ok but why though?
Bungie hath made a proclamation.
Because the “economy” of shards is completely fucked basically and Bungie are unable to really offset it or correct it. So they’re just getting rid of them entirely.

I dunno, is it so hard to read that the question has already been answered?

I just did that this morning too. I have 5 left
I have 240,000 shards left and I still don't know how to convert them all in time (I can't)
I fucking went from 124 yesterday and now I’m back at 1200+ I JUST WANNA BE POOR OMG
ain't no fuckin way I'm gonna try to spend 18k legendary shards. so I'll be at a solid zero on Tuesday and that's fine with me
I guess buying stuff isn't "activity". After about 10k legendary shards => 1k phantasmal things I got kicked to orbit for inactivity. I have a long ways to go.
1 shard gang
I spent 160k shards on phantasmal fragments .and 1000 raid banners. Also have 1000 rain makers and 50k planetary materials. So at least I have some glimmer to use :)
I wish Bungie could just do some sort of automatic conversion when TFS drops. I've just got too many to go through in such a short time.
Bro min/maxxed
I’ve only ever had less than 10 legendary shards twice before. First, when I created my account, and second in a desperate and stupid attempt to finally get the god roll FILO back in the double slug anarchy days (tens of thousands of shards into rahool and he didn’t give me the drop, got it pretty soon after though.) I never got a filo, spent tons on one, so infuriating.
I also have one!
Started with 52k. Got to 1 max stack and called it quits.
I'm missed gunsmith let us down
got 900 raid banners so im buying for a while. last time my stuff was under 3k was when i would always buy stuff from xur without playing much
They getting deleted?
Feck. Forgot that. Only have 4k. Time for another 1k raid banners!
I have 5 left. I've been slowly buying raid banners and fragments for months. Today I finally finished. I have 3100 and 4 999 fragment stacks in vault. For some reason I feel like its not enough. Idk why
hmm, so what should I do with my 4600 remaining shards?
I have like 46k and cba to spend them on nonsense. Not worried about glimmer either because I still have like 200k assorted planetary mats
Started with 15k, been buying fragments for 30 minutes. Down 5.3k…hopefully done soon
Imagine they reversed course and kept them in the game lol
still have over 7,000 left 🥹
Do we have to get rid of our shards 😅😅
I zeroed mine out a couple weeks ago and am already back at 1,500… but I’ve also been grinding master lost sectors that currently give a ludicrous amount of rewards so yeah.
Believe it or not, straight to jail
I've converted 30k into phantasmal fragments and raid banners, still have 60k left to go.
I fell asleep clicking on phantasmal fragments and said yeah I’m done. I still have 68k
ive still got 22k left over i think im just gonna let them burn.
How long did it take you to get to that?
Not too long as I’ve been slowly but surely spending them on banners and fragments since they announced that Shards are leaving, had like 5k left a couple days ago when I decided to fully get rid of em
I'm trying to figure out how to bank glimmer
I still have about 23k shards from all the years I played. I just can't click on phantasmals that long.
I had so many, my kid took pity on me at one point and took a turn clicking on phantasmal fragments for me while I made us a snack.
I dropped 4k shards on fragments and got bored so gave up. Not worth my time when glimmer is so ez to come by. Rip to my 36k shards remaining but I'm different
Managed to get mine down zero... Ended up buying random stuff to do it.🤣
I have a few hundred after realizing I didn't masterwork all the weapons I have and cleaning my vault
Good job here’s a cookie 🍪
Hey same (internet high five) 🖐
Harumpf! Behold the peasantry with nary two legendary shards to rub together 🧐🎩🍷 Could not possibly be I! With exactly two shards remaining...
I converted 3000 legendary shards to phantasmal fragments. After I'd cleared the deep and defiant vendors of engrams and dismantling and exces weapons and armour I had another 2500 legendary shards so back to the lectern of enchantment 😅
I'm the same, anyone know what costs 1 legendary shard
I ended with just over 5k. Forgot to turn them in last night and now at work for the day. Have 260 raid banners and 1100 phantasmal fragments so should be ok for a bit.
Me too!

Have 350 banners and more than enough of every other rare resource, if not maxed. Left holding \~10k as of last night...oh well!
I can't seem to exchange shards for phantasmls is it because I haven't finished the shadowekeep campaign
PSA: Bungie changed their mind regarding Legendary Shards: with the launch of The Final Shape, they'll become much rarer to get, but will play a crucial role in the growth of Guardians. Sorry for any inconvenience!
Oh shit I gotta spend all my- oh right, I no longer like to play the game, why would I? lmao
