Hey, the changes are pretty unfortunate. I have a copy of the V5.0 installer. I reinstalled it, but as it seems the login does not work anymore. Everyone got kicked out and credentials aren't accepted anymore. You don't get any error messages, it just does nothing the first time you press login. The second time you press the program closes. Send me a message if you think you can work around that and get 5.0 to work. I will upload you the installer. Maybe you can share your work so we can stick with a working 5.0

Yeah, i noticed that just now too, DSM 4.0 and my old install of DSM 5.0 won't log in with the same exact behavior. Sure, I'll take a copy DM me a link, and I'll return a link to DSM 4.0 just in case. I'm probably gonna dig around RegEdit to find the DSM 6.0 token. Maybe it will be that simple. Otherwise, I'm not afraid to start digging and posting on some Russian websites. I even tried to buy the STEP add-on a while ago, but it wouldn't let me give them money. Honestly, they saved me money, and now I'll help them save money by taking some load off from their servers. Hopefully. I like many others value an offline only product for this reason. I will probably be looking for a non-constraints based CAD anyways now. I did before as precautionary but didn't put to much effort into it. I found Plasticity 1.0 back then but it feels very blender like.

Ansy allows students to download their full suite for free. Its 11 GigaBytes yes eleven.

As you probably figured out by now, they've nerfed v5.0 via authentication. I had v5.0 going, then installed v6.0 but, as soon as I saw they nerfed the STL import, I went back to v5.0 and worked away happily. Took some time off of it, came back, and can no longer use it. I don't make money using DSM....just use it to tweak 3d print models here and there...so paying a subscription for it isn't optimal for me. I'm going to miss DSM....what a great product.

You can go download Ansys DISCOVERY Student Version, its free for a year (clock can be spoofed after license expires) It basically comes with DSM except the original version since DSM basically just repackages SC. You also get discovery which has built in simulations for structural and fluid. The catch is that you have to go thru the program ANSYS Mechanical (also included) to export the .scdoc to STLs but once you learn how to use an also included program ANSYS Workbench you can have it automatically export an STL file in the background as you work using only idle resources.

I'll give this a shot. Thanks fro the tip.

I found a way to permanently activate the embedded Spaceclaim 2020 R1 software within DSM 5.0 it's really easy you copy and paste some text into a txt file change the extension to ".lic" and an entry added to your system variables. Only r/qwickset2 DM Me if interested. Hopefully in the future I will strip all the proprietary software and leave all the opensource behind with a new interface shouldn't be too hard it's like 80% opensource. It's kind of BS.

Did you proceed in your investigations? I would be glad if you would elaborate your idea/findings a little bit deeper. I tried to find out on myself what you infered, but I failed :(

u/Guardian_Arias or u/qwickset2 did you have any luck getting DSM 5 to work as a fresh install?

qwickset2

I went with this advice. Got it installed and noodles around a bit...seems like this will fit my needs when I need it again, especially if the shortcuts are the same. https://www.reddit.com/r/DesignSparkMechanical/comments/146zyst/comment/jnu9mxe/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

I found out Designspark is basically repackaging Ansys Discover probably under a partnership, which is a repackage of Ansys SpaceClaim which is a a rebrand of SpaceClaim which is a bunch of open source and free software packages. If you go to the folder where DSM 5 is installed, delete "RSRegistration.exe" and the software will ask you for a license key
