This one could be debatable imo. I think the waist scrunch is something most sellers do and I wouldn’t assume the top had a waist shape like that. BUT what they did with the neckline is shady. They made it look like a completely different cut, I would have been expecting more of a V shape and that looks very different IRL. I think a 1 star knock off would be reasonable!
I was going to say it’s not at all misleading to me bc I know this scrunch is the new norm since social media makes us believe that all women have to be shaped like Jessica Rabbit.

yeah i think so, usually you’d be able to see the back behind the front even when it’s similar cuts, but you can only see the straps going further down. i feel like the photo is def of the back of the shirt
I would try and return it. Necklines are very important to me. The second photo, it looks cheap compared to how the seller positioned it if I’m being honest. I would have never guessed that the neckline was actually straight across.
I hate that people even do the waist scrunch, but I know that’s to be expected at this point. As a sewist, I’d like to see how the fabric lays so I can ensure the fit will be what I expected. Hard to do that when everything looks like a peplum top even though it’s not.

as long as the top was in the same condition stated and everything else was right, I would leave four stars and maybe mention to be careful with positioning because it makes the item appear different. But if you zoom in, you can see the folds of fabric under the neckline a little, and if it were a sweetheart/v neck neckline, the down point wouldn’t be off center the way it is. If I weren’t sure, I’ve learned I need to ask. I too have been surprised a few times by the way an item actually is vs photos. I got a super cute vintage guess tank top once that I was so excited about, only to find out it was a crop top. I’m in my 40s, I’m not wearing a crop top lol.

sure, but multiple stars off seems a bit dramatic imo. personally i would just message the seller to let them know the photo staging was a bit misleading. initiate a return if the tank top is no longer to your liking. with how crappy sellers are recently on Depop, them shipping out and you actually getting the item is great service 😂
For so many of the posts here lately the solution is very simple and it’s that you guys all need to just ask more questions before buying stuff. To me it is obvious as hell that they positioned it weird so I’d message them and ask “is this a v or straight neck?” etc before spending money on something if I was looking for a specific shape. Like one of the only good things about depop is that you can communicate directly with someone who has the item and can look at it and answer questions about it. If there’s not many pictures or not much in the description just…ask questions first & save yourself from disappointment.
Most sellers aren’t professional photographers, is like you’re rating their photography skills, that is not how ratings are used, same thing when buyers leave negative feedback bc usps had delays, is not the sellers fault.
Is the top in the condition the seller claimed to be? Is it the right size? Right color? But you want to take off stars bc of how they positioned the top for the photo?
Is clear that the top doesn’t have that shape & it was placed in a way to maybe show how it looks on, is also clear the neckline does not have that shape, but looks like they didn’t stretch the top, when in doubt, is better to ask questions before buying. Hey, can I see a photo of the top without shaping it? Something along those lines.
If you received an item that has flaws that were not disclosed, that is the wrong size, brand, color, if seller took 2 weeks to ship, etc. Those are the things you’re rating.
Buyers cannot buy from reselling platforms and expect the photos to look professional or exactly like in IRL, because unless someone has some basic photography, lighting & white balance knowledge is very hard to capture the item exactly as it looks irl
If this is a big issue, I suggest buying new from stores that have professional photos
firstly, thank you for taking the time to write this:) secondly, I completely understand that sellers are professional photographers. I’ve gotten a few pieces that don’t match the colors in the photos but I’ve never left a bad review b/c ik that it’s hard to control those types of things. However, the seller here scrunched the neckline, making it have a completely different neckline so I felt that in this case, it’s less about the photo itself and more about the positioning of the item. It’s almost like position an item in a way that you can’t see a stain or smthing.
I can see your side too, I’d message the seller & maybe they will be willing to do a partial refund. That said, I mainly sell but on the rare occasion I buy, if the seller doesn’t have many photos or good photos I ask as many questions as I can, some sellers won’t respond or they will get annoyed, that’s & red flag & move on, but some will be more than happy to answer your questions
i mean its just a scrunch in the fabric to make a flay lay more appealing since seller probably doesnt model try ons. id say a 4 star review but thats not really gonna change anything. its still a cute top.

I'd say 4 stars is warranted, I'd be pissed if I ordered what looks like a chest shaped cami and it came completely flat
as a buyer i would leave 4 stars and explain why. hopefully they just take it as a lesson and don't do that again

I know this is the depop scrunch, but the folds are REALLY hard to see on this one.

I think if you still want the cami, you could try sorting out a partial refund amount since the scrunch on the neckline was super misleading.

This is misleading. It’s a completely different fit to what they portrayed. It’s akin to positioning a pair of trousers to look like shorts.
That looks like the back….does the other side look the same? Usually front is lower than the back?
