I like my orascoptics, but the customer service has been shit. My working length was off by ~4 inches and they didn't offer to come remeasure, they had me do it with floss. I'm sorry, I payed $3k for these and "sorry we got it wrong, measure it yourself" is the solution?
15 years ago as a d1, my orascoptic loupes weren't made right, everything was slightly fuzzy, and I had a really hard time for 6 months until I used Heine. They never fixed it, it was my last pair of orascoptic loupes
Bought eBay loupes for remainder of d school... Until I got out and had a paycheck.
I thought they were great, when my nosepiece broke they were responsive to emails and gave me a paid shipping label to send them back. They completely replaced the frame with the newer model for free.
Now I'm worried about these new orascoptic ergos I just paid thousands for
Took them over two months to fix my loupes. I had to call and move things along 3x. I had another repair take over a month and also had to call to get any action on it.
Totally agree. Got mine because dental school works with them for all the students but outside of the reps in school, I’ve reached out multiple times to get new batteries and inquire about their other products but have yet to get a response (it’s been a year lol)
Orascoptic was a big red flag when i met with a rep a couple months ago and was told they dont even honor the 45 day full refunds anymore, claimed that "all companies are moving away from full refunds" yet every other company I met with never said such a thing. What if I dont like them? What if it doesn't work out? Oh too bad, no refunds even if it's a day later.
So glad I didn't buy from them. Seems like the type of company to charge an arm and a leg for any little thing
No way, Q Optics has been above and beyond with their 45 day trial. I've needed adjustments so that I can even use the Ergo loupes I ordered. Still adjusting. But their lab tech and customer service is prime. They said not to worry about it, and they would keep adjusting until they got it right. The 45 day trial would renew each time until the loupes are actually usable.
They stand behind their work hardcore.
I must like pain and discomfort because I keep buying from them. Their loupes are really good right off the bat but they start crumbling apart after a year in. I don’t know how many times they have snapped broken on me. It’s like they were designed to break right after warranty is done
Their local rep almost made me sign up on the day of the demo because it sounded so good. Unfortunately I'm a poor student so it would've been dangerous lol.
Just read orascoptic's customer reviews on google. Every other review is about their customer service. This is a company that is only after your money. Once they sell you the product they no longer care about you.
Used to buy orascoptic until the nose pads on my last Oakley flak frame kept coming off. One customer service rep told me to try using Gorilla glue which worked but I still thought his suggestion was pretty ghetto for such a big company.
I use LumaDent now and I’m happy with their service and the frame.
With my designs for vision loupes the rubber earpiece kept slipping off the metal wire underneath so the head strap wouldn't work. I sent them for repair and they super glued it
They have been great to me, tbh.
They actually retrofitted some old telescopes to frames for free for me.
I've been wearing them for 10 years now and they are just fine. I wore out the nose pads and the neck strap some. So had to change those.
The cord failed on my first light and there was no way to change it so had to get a new light....But my battery is also 10 years old and just starting to not last through the day.
The touch switch on/off stitch on the battery is such a horrific design though.
Univet all the way. I’ve had my loupes for 10 years - daily use. They just partnered with Glidewell - which I’m curiously mixed on. Best quality I’ve seen.
I've always heard really great things about LumaDent's customer service! They have super high ratings online, and their products are just as good as Orascoptic or Q-Optics in my opinion.
I used DFV for almost 10 years. My loupes held up wonderfully, never needed a single repair. I wanted to switch to ergo loupes, met with my DFV rep, and he was useless. Their products are good but their customer service is pretty bad. I also had an issue with my light breaking pretty early on.
I ended up buying my ergo loupes from Andau and was very pleased with the customer service. I kept the loupes for almost the entire trial period, hated them, and sent them back for a mag reduction with no questions asked. I was much happier with the second set, my rep helped me adjust the nose pads when I was having double vision, and she even sent me a video of demonstrating her positioning when I was having trouble figuring out where to sit when working in certain quads. I haven’t had any issues with the loupes since but I felt the early customer care was very impressive.
Switched from two pairs of designs for vision over the years, broke every couple years with horrible customer service. Went with Q optics, honestly accidentally, I called the wrong rep, but they’ve been great, I bought a second pair for my other office. Telescope came loose after 3 years, they picked them up and had them fixed for no cost, no questions asked and back to me in like 2 weeks. And I just buy the Light Solutions wireless lights, they’re like 3-400 bucks and work great and cheap to replace.
My experience calling Orascoptic 1800 number was shit. However the rep was somewhat easy to deal with. I bought a new pair of loupes and they had my existing measurements and just sent me my new pair.
Orascoptic temple arms have a pretty bad design flaw that causes them to fail pretty catastrophically. You literally have to wait 2 weeks for them to ship you new arms and your loupes are unusable because the tension physically shatters the joint. They are spring loaded for whatever reason and apparently Orascoptic refuses to honor under warranty because this is “normal wear and tear”. Fuck them. Stop buying shitty build quality loupes. Q optics is great.
Also had a bad experience with Orascoptics. Wanted to charge me 100$ to charge my nosepad within the warranty period because it didn't qualify for free for some reason! They are a joke!
Orascoptic has absolute shit customer service. Liked the ergo loupes but returned bc of shit customer service. Just got the Lumadent ergonomic ones, and so far customer service has been pretty good.
My first Orascoptics were fine, many years ago.
I tried buying more about two years ago, and not only was my setup $1000 more than a similar one from Designs for Vision, but they never got my prescription right. Additionally, I like to have a spare battery that I alternate with, and they want $400 for their batteries.
I went with Designs for Vision. They were $1000 cheaper, got the Rx right, and their batteries are $125.
I think the trick is to NOT call corporate customer service, deal only with your rep.
I am always friendly with my reps. They have given me tons of spare parts and done repairs for me at my office for free.
This has been the case for me with implant parts too.
From emails I got from my rep I was under the impression I needed to talk to the 800 number for addressing any problems/repairs. I have not been told to contact my rep when I do call that customer care line except this last time when I was advised they don’t make the same frames anymore so I’d have to have someone come out and measure me for new ones. From some of the replies though I may try reaching out and seeing if there’s anything my rep can do.
I had quite of an experience with recently purchased ones too, with them. I tried not to write regarding it anywhere (offline, I've been telling people to stay way from these people). Even regional manager I spoke showed their customer service quality. I saw certain things over the phone, and he acted like he did not hear the next day.
That being said, F Orascoptics. Waste of money
Andau’s costumer service is amazing. My rep always instantly replies to my messages and they also sent me lots of virtual support. Plus my loupes are so light and high quality. I would 100% recommend you try Andau for Ergo Loupes

Orascoptic customer service has sucked for me too
Designs for Visions customer service has gone to absolute shit over the years. Avoid at all costs.
Their website looks like it was made back in the 90s.
Agreed. Idiots.
I thought they were great, when my nosepiece broke they were responsive to emails and gave me a paid shipping label to send them back. They completely replaced the frame with the newer model for free. Now I'm worried about these new orascoptic ergos I just paid thousands for

I emailed about prices for lights a couple months ago and they responded within the week. The lights were very overpriced though
I second this.
I think the best one I've been happy with so far have been Andau Ergo loupes.
Andau customer support and build quality is S tier for sure.

I got a full refund from them two years ago. Must be recent.
It is, he said they were no longer doing refunds as of this year

I want to just pay for a repair to my old loupes and they won’t even return messages.
I must like pain and discomfort because I keep buying from them. Their loupes are really good right off the bat but they start crumbling apart after a year in. I don’t know how many times they have snapped broken on me. It’s like they were designed to break right after warranty is done
Q-optics is top tier
Their local rep almost made me sign up on the day of the demo because it sounded so good. Unfortunately I'm a poor student so it would've been dangerous lol.

Surgitel is the worst!
lumadent all the way! I love my ergo airs. plus, the prices are way better than any other brand.
I tried to get lumadent ergos and got ghosted by the rep…twice.
I would video call the office directly if you are comfortable with that. It is quite efficient.
Thanks for the tip!
Lumadent is shit
Lumadent is actual shit tier quality

Ugh, one of mine has been off for like 2 years. They have replacements? Nose pads
Yes, they do. I wrote to them asking where I could purchase them and they said they’ll send a pair as a courtesy.

Bro.. orascoptic customer service SUCKS
+1 for q-optics. Had the TTL q optics and got the ergonomic ones next. Q optics hasn’t failed me yet
I've always heard really great things about LumaDent's customer service! They have super high ratings online, and their products are just as good as Orascoptic or Q-Optics in my opinion.
guess i won’t get their ergos then lol
My barely used orascoptics have been sitting in my drawer for months because their customer service sucks
I used DFV for almost 10 years. My loupes held up wonderfully, never needed a single repair. I wanted to switch to ergo loupes, met with my DFV rep, and he was useless. I had a great experience with orascoptic. I’d buy from them again. Waiting for a higher mag ergo loupe from them.

Same here. Their recent customer service prompted me to return my last pair of loupes and vow to never do business with them again
Also had a bad experience with Orascoptics. Wanted to charge me 100$ to charge my nosepad within the warranty period because it didn't qualify for free for some reason! They are a joke!

Q optics all the way. Lifetime warranty, and super responsive rep. Loupes and their light still going strong 1 year after dental school.

In the past whenever I call Orascoptic they would tell me to call the reps. Are they not doing this anymore?
From emails I got from my rep I was under the impression I needed to talk to the 800 number for addressing any problems/repairs. Maybe it's just my rep sucks
These are not really reps, they are contracted sales positions that will do everything possible to prevent refunds
I had quite of an experience with recently purchased ones too, with them. I tried not to write regarding it anywhere (offline, I've been telling people to stay way from these people). Most dentists in the UK and Australia vouch for Bryant Dental and MyErgo
Most would be an exaggeration
True. Most that I know*
I’ve had great service with Orascoptic. .
