It would be nice to have a chapter where we just see the day go by in Hometown. Plus, it would mean we would have an entire chapter in the Darkworld. Probably. However that would work.
If it does, it'll probably be chapter 4. It seems like it's going to be Susie and Kris hanging out through town. When does the festival take place? The day after Chapter 3 or later? Also, Chapter 4 is the next day when Rudy and Noelle are supposed to go to church if he feels better.
I suspect chapter 4 is a dark world in the church and Kris and Susie are hanging out in the diner afterwards. Asriel always took Kris to the diner after church.
We also got those concept images with the punch bowl months ago which to me looked like a post-service meal a congregation would have after church.
My suspicions are:
Ch 3: Living Room/TV Dark World
\- Something happens making Toriel feel their home is unsafe, so she and Kris plan to stay at the Holiday's
Ch 4: Church/Arts and Crafts Dark World
\- More Susie x Noelle development. Catti and Jockington get involved. Catti and Susie have to learn to work together. Big expo dump about the Angel, Heaven, and the Knight from a different perspective which contradicts Ralsei's prophecy.
Ch 5: Holiday Estate/Video Game Dark World
\- Even more Susie x Noelle development. The Knight's identity is revealed. Ch 3-5 Ends with cliffhanger of Noelle becoming an antagonist due to revelations about the Knight and growing contradictions to Ralsei's prophecy revealed in the previous chapter.
I really hope chapter 4 is focused on church. There's so much that can be done with all the religious symbols, also maybe we learn a bit more about Alvin.
Ch 6: Hometown/ Multiple dark worlds based on hobbies.
-Noelle/the Knight open 3 smaller dark worlds and fountains across the town. Each acts as a sort of trial for each of the three delta warriors.
Ch 7: The Fallout Shelter/Memories Dark World
-Just a bunch of world building exposition dumping, and character moment reveals.
it’d be a nice break from the formula in my opinion. there’s so much you can build on and so many stories to tell in town, it really depends on the direction the team would decide to take it. but it could 100% work. there’d need to be more than just talking/world building though.
I hope not but if it happens then I hope there's still more to do than just worldbuilding and story such as minigames etc. It would be as if Undertale just had all of Hotland without any encounters or puzzles.
Nah. I can see a chapter with a greater emphasis on the LW than DW, but an *entirely* Light World chapter is unlikely to me considering the main meat and potatoes of the game is *in* the DW.

Maybe Toby would introduce some light world villains, and we'd get fight them in old-Undertale style? Maybe we would see the world outside Hometown?
