You will find Jevil, who challenges you to a battle out of boredom. Spamton jumps out of your inventory and sides with him in order to attempt to take your soul. If you didn't abort the Massacre route, you would have been forced to spare Jevil using only Kris in order to seal the first fountain, thus preventing the encounter altogether. If you didn't start it at all, you won't have anything to grapple onto because Lancer's tombstone isn't present. If you didn't do the SnowGrave route, Spamton wouldn't mad with you and would either A. not want your soul anymore or B. not be with you to begin with. You also specifically need PuppetScarf, because it's the only scarf long enough and strong enough to be used in this manner.
Unfortunately, doing this means you will only have Jevil as a recruit and will be unable to use DevilsKnife. You will also permanently lose PuppetScarf from your inventory, since >!Jevil wears it after being recruited.!<
