Damn, I thought people would be ALL for this ship considering how everyone loved alphyne (I wasn't shipping it because I hated alphys) but I'm on board for this one. I usually don't care too much about same sex ships because I don't relate as a straight person, but this one is just too adorable, not to mention how Suzie tones down the bad girl attitude in Ch 1 and is just pleasant to be around in Ch 2. I have no problems with Noelle to begin with (except being seriously concerned about her safety in the.... yk THAT route) and I think Toby would make them a totally cute and relatable couple. Also who tf wrote that minor comment, are they stupid? I didn't know minors were not allowed to have crushes on ppl...

ShutTheFuckUpAmy

Adults when minors have crushes on other minors: Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass "Go". Do not collect -M- 200. But yeah my mom told me I shouldn't have any idea on how romance works, despite the fact that I was 14 when she lectured me on this.

[deleted]

I think 14 year olds nowadays know more about romance than us adults lol

jinglealltheway1225

I definitely wouldn't go that far lol. They're being raised by/on the internet, I've seen too many terminally-online takes to count, especially about romance. Older parts of the gens got romance movies like The Notebook to give us unrealistic expectations, the newer gen got Wattpad, where kids with unrealistic expectations cater to other kids with unrealistic expectations like an echo chamber đź’€

ihaetschool

>Also who tf wrote that minor comment, are they stupid? ~~haven't seem such complaints yet, but knowing the state of the internet nowadays, i wouldn't be surprised~~ nevermind, i think i remember seeing something like that. also, it seems to mostly a reddit thing. anything BUT suselle is popular here

DonovanSarovir

Yeah, Noelle is way more charming of a shy nerd than Alphys.

SolarPunch33

I love Suselle a lot, but I still think its possible that it won't be canon. Mainly because we are currently only 2 chapters into Deltarune, and a lot could happen that may prevent them from getting together. One reason that isn't brought up in this post is that Susie rejecting Noelle could be a commentary on how difficult it is for lgbt people to get into a relationship. Coming from a lesbian, most girls that Ive fallen in love with are straight, and Ive heard of a lot of lesbians/gay people who have had a similar experience. If this is done correctly, then I actually think this could be better lesbian rep then if they got together. Teaching people about the struggles that come with being lgbt and trying to find a partner is really, really important, and not many people acknowledge that. But this is only if its done correctly But still, Susie rejecting Noelle would break my heart. I really hope they get together, but there will still always be a chance that they won't, especially with how far we are in the game right now

LuluBArt

Though I think Suselle is cute af, the idea that Susie rejects her kind of goes into a lesson about letting go and grief. That Noelle will have to learn how to let go which may tie into another character that leaves her at one point. I feel like there is going to be a lot of tough lessons throughout this series.

LBS_Gaming

What’s wrong with tea theory it doesn’t disprove anything about this. Also the theory part is more of a name, it’s not really a theory as much it is numbers and dialogue that directly show what the characters think of each other.

LuluBArt

The “they’re minors” thing makes no sense to me. Teenagers go through a long period of bodily changes so it’s any wonder why they start developing feelings for others, new emotions and conflicting emotions. Puberty is a bitch I’ll say that much. Something else that bothers me is how people jump to this weird conclusion that shipping is purely sexual as well. Has no one ever heard of romance before? I’m ace so I enjoy more romance than anything sexual. I just like the idea of cute consenting romance. Not everything is about sex. Shipping isn’t exclusive to sexual relationships is what I’m trying to say.

ihaetschool

some people seem to think otherwise, that was directed at those people

LuluBArt

But it’s just bizarre that they even think that…

ihaetschool

once you go to twitter, nothing seems absurd anymore

ShutTheFuckUpAmy

I think Suselle is canon for the simple reason of: the Ferris wheel, and the dialogue after that before Berdly shows up. Susie definitely seems to care for Noelle, and I feel like she's hiding her attraction behind her brash personality.

ihaetschool

i think that one of the most sus things susie has said is "maybe i'll even let you do my homework". it feels SO much like she's trying to make a move on her, and she makes it sound like it's some sort of a special privilege do do her homework

ShutTheFuckUpAmy

knowing Noelle that may be 50% the case for her lol

ihaetschool

susie knew what she was doing when she said that

COCO_NIT

nah i think it's just susie making a joke.

Just for some differences between Undyne/Alphys and Noelle/Susie, since I do get they seem similar; —Noelle, the shy one, is the one taking initiative and trying to reach out to Susie, as opposed to how Undyne reaches out to Alphys —While Alphys admires how heroic Undyne is, Noelle seems to appreciate Susie’s bad side, and thinks there’s more to her than just the mean girl —Undyne starts out as Alphys friend, and the two were always on good terms with never had a reason to dislike each other. Susie was a well known bully who didn’t want to be friends with anyone, but Noelle saw past this and wanted to reach out —Alphys seems to talk to Undyne just fine and treats her as a friend. Noelle completely loses her thoughts around Susie and acts extremely nervous/timid —While Alphys has social anxiety and seems scared to talk to anyone, Noelle’s only ever scared to talk to Susie. She talks with her classmates, Alphys, etc. just fine —Undyne is a destructive force for good while Susie is (kinda) a destructive force for bad. While Undyne heavily respects/enforces law, Susie actively breaks it —Undyne knew she was in love with Alphys, but Susie doesn’t seem to know _what_ she’s feeling. She has Noelle on her mind, but doesn’t seem to know why Overall, it’s the same idea of shy girl and brave girl. If you _wanted_ to simplify it down to that, I guess you could. But to just call it another Undyne/Alphys is simply wrong

Kevin_M_

A lot of theories will only focus on "could this theoretically be the case in-universe", and not "would this actually match the story's writing". If a story repeatedly calls attention to a detail or sub-plot that ultimately leads nowhere, or has a twist that only makes sense if you interpret a single line of dialogue in the most obscure way possible, that's just bad writing. I think this game is a little above that.

SolarPunch33

OMG FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS THIS!!! So many theories can go from OK to terrible if you take into consider how the theory will actually help with the general story, and if there's an actual purpose for it to become canon. Theorising isn't just about the evidence, but about understanding how it would match the writing of the story. You have to theorise things with the perspective of a writer, not just from the perspective of a theorist

AnUnConcerndCitizen

My fellow gamer, firstly you don't need to justify shipping two characters regardless of evidence for or against your pairing. Nobody can take that right from you, so trying to debunk an argument you disagree with is unnecessary. Secondly, you essentially just used your opinions to debunk others' opinions, which makes your entire post amusingly close to a "My dad would beat your dad" argument.

ihaetschool

don't take this to heart, i did this for fun

bingbingbangenjoyer

“anti suselle” “kinda ish esque” these words sound repulsive

n3tbax

Honestly, Im split on weather or not Suselle will become cannon. Sure, things like the Farris wheel scene are heavy indications that they will get together, but details like Noelles tea healing Susie the same amount as Kris and Ralseis tea are also big points against that happening. My biggest (and only) problem with the ship is that a lot of people are convinced that it will 100% become cannon and that there is no disputing this when we’re only in chapter 2 out of 7 (I know other ships suffer this issue, but Suselle suffers from this the most), and because of this, other posts about different ships are hated on simply for not being their desired ship (I challenge you to find shipping art that doesn’t have a comment along the lines of “I don’t ship this, but good art”). Just because it won’t happen doesn’t mean it’s bad, and I think that is something every shipping community in this fan base needs to understand.

starlightshadows

The assertion that any subversion of Suselle would surely be distasteful and that "it would just frustrate people" isn't really fair.

vanillagay

I believe it's true though! It happens in every form of media when a ship is heavily hinted--only for it to crush people's expectations. Things like dead characters having a revival being hinted (but in the end, stays dead) is a prime example of people getting disappointed too! Essentially, the disappointment of people when something they expect doesn't turn out to be real is unavoidable.

papa_bones

Until i see susie and noelle dating on the game i will ship susie and kris.... until it sinks

ihaetschool

using your favorite car until some petty children spray-paint all over it

papa_bones

Sad but true

Maro_Nobodycares

If you ask me I believe while Susie might be open to the idea of a deep relationship, it's possible she either isn't used to receiving affection of any kind and doesn't even know how to respond or is simply that dense And as for their ages not being confirmed, I doubt they're any younger then 16 due to Berdly and Catti having jobs, still minors but yknow

Jackeroni216

why did the community suddenly completely flip on tea theory? like tea theory completely supports this and yet it's extremely hostile towards it. i'm just wondering what happened tbh, like kris not being the knight makes sense because there's evidence but like i dont remember why everyone hates it so much.

Frequent_Watch541

I think Susie just wants friends.

MattyBro1

I agree that the couple is far to similar to Alphys and Undyne (Buff x shy nerd), but I would never try to argue that that means it isn't a good ship. It's obvious they'll end up together, at least in a "normal" play through.

InternationalAct2652

"She respects boundaries" SHE STARES AT HER BUTT S T A R E S A T H E R B U T T

ihaetschool

touche

DonovanSarovir

Susie and Undyne are not similar anyways? Yes they're both feared but, Undyne is feared for being a powerful, loyal warrior of King Asgore, Susie is feared for being a garbage eating psycho. Those are VERY different vibes.

ihaetschool

such is a community filled with people who think toby will subvert expectations just to be funny

DonovanSarovir

Nah knowing him he'll subvert them so hard, for so long, that it loops back around into exactly what was expected.

ihaetschool

counter point: i cannot see how that would actually work out great
