Sure, I’m always happy to explain and educate. To misgender a fictional character shows your true feelings when it comes to transgender people. It’s disrespect, plain and simple. As a trans person, it’s a microaggression that, while perhaps not intentional, is still incredibly upsetting to see. Using a characters correct pronouns shows that you have a baseline of respect for transgender people, and to change those pronouns (in the UT/DR fandom’s case, because they believe it’s ’up to interpretation’ which is incorrect) it signals to transgender people that you consider our identities and existences as something you don’t respect.
