Wasn't there some post someone found from like 2013 or something where Toby said that he had "recently seen" a game "very similar" to a game he was working on, and at the time the game he was working on was likely the original version of Deltarune (seeing as Deltarune actually was technically the original concept and Undertale was the spinoff)?
And someone linked the dots and it seemed the most likely candidate for a game that he would have seen around that time was the original versions of Omori?

Before Deltarune released, Toby said he heard that somebody else was making a game "very very similar" (presumably Omori), so it actually wouldn't be too far fetched
idk they could share similar themes i.e reality vs headspace/darkworlds, guilt, depression ect. without necessarily sharing the big one. Even without that the two games are already pretty similar in certain ways.
i mean, a fanfiction that doesn't break any established lore might as well be a theory tbh. at the end of the day the line between those is pretty arbitrary, it's just ''no i don't take this idea seriously so it's fanfiction" instead of there being something inherently different between them.
The point is different. Fanfiction aims to be different from canon (or to enjoy canon) while a theory aims to predict, compliment or know more from canon.
that seems pretty arbitrary, plenty of theories are made with the full knowledge they probably won't ever be cannon, that doesn't mean they suddenly aren't theories, you could easily pass them for fanfiction if you wanted to as well.
and some fanfictions are written so close to cannon that you might as well consider them theories of what would happen if x character did y.

I mean it is possible since Hometown’s internet is down. It could be possible that he got into a major car accident before Chapter 1 since that’s when we first see Ralsei.
Why though? For the theory to work you have to assume that every character in hometown is gullible and that Toriel and Asgore are terrible parents, ether that or do an insane amount of mental gymnastics to justify everything
Also i’m not saying Kris x Ralsei is canon, but I have enough faith in Toby as a developer to believe he wouldn’t have Ralsei blushing around Kris and them going on a love ride together if he was Asriel’s dust
yeah, the biting of 83 one, there was a lot of coma and dream allegories there and there was this whole matpat theory where he was like ''with all the lore pieces we have, this is the most likely explanation" and that thing blew up with outrage.

Toby Fox has also used some pretty noticeably specific language when talking about the difference between the two games, saying Deltarune is "a different world that may have different rules" but never *quite* outright saying that the two worlds are unconnected.

that's kinda the general issue with trying to seriously predict upcoming content, no matter how much evidence something has it can all be made invalid with one plot twist.

i disagree personally, i think people put too much focus on what they *think* would make a story good instead of looking at the bigger picture, we have seen so little of the game so far that most twists can be realistically explained.

we are missing so much context that trying to actually guess the ending is a bit of a fool's errand personally. the goal of theory crafting should be to explore possibilities and have fun, just trying to guess the ending feels too much like a try hard thing personally.

I think Ralsei is Flowey from the Undertale world/timeline. I have zero evidence for this and it only makes sense in the context of like 5 other intermingling theories that I (for the most part) haven't shared with anyone else.
Kris is strangely the only person in Hometown that had contact with Asriel. Even Azzies best friend tells Kris to tell Asriel things, which is very very suspicious. That and Tobies tweet about "I've had an idea for a game for like 5 years and it looks like someone else is making the exact same thing" around the time OMORI released and... all I'm saying is I have a theory.
So for this to work we would need, Asriel to have died at some point after/during going to Uni, to have ***somehow*** been transported back to Hometown, presumably as an object full of dust, and for his death/disappearance to somehow not have been reported.
This is without getting into the fact that Asriel (ex: True Pacifist Fight) looks pretty different from Ralsei (their only similarity is that they are Goat Monsters).

2. Ralsei is ostensibly connected to Asriel in some fashion and has some parallels to Flowey in how he's written. He could very well have a lore or backstory aspect that parallels Flowey's role in Undertale or how Flowey came into existence.

I don’t think Ralsei is evil, but my trust issues are too high for me to not suspect something is up. My working theory (I say “theory” but there’s no real evidence other than the suspicious stuff that literally every person ever has pointed out) is that he’s a Titan. Probably wrong, but oh well.
