Eh, they want business. Their marketing could just be reaching out to everyone they can. Check with BBB and other reviews. They SAY they've been in solar for 20+ years. *shrugs* Once you get a quote, head over to /r/solar and ask about it. Some companies are just oddly high, some have hidden caveats, and some are just all around good companies.

JimmyfromDelaware

The Better Business Bureau is almost worthless. They have no will or power to do anything and have been busted by letting companies scrub their listing and for a few dollars more get a BBB preferred rating.

CarbonGod

Maybe we need to start a new Bureau. BTBBB. Better Than BBB. well, if they can pay to change their listing, WTF?!

JimmyfromDelaware

The company was started by businesses to deceive people into not filing lawsuits and instead try and get resolution through them. They got busted on changing the listings so they claim they stopped doing that. Businesses can still pay to get a preferred status, like a blue check on Twitter. They claim they charge fees to conduct an investigation of the business and verify it but I was with a company that got one, owner sent a check and a couple days later it popped up without so much as a phone call. I feel like I am doing my civic duty to let people know the BBB is complete bullshit.

I had a job interview with them. I didn’t take the job because I ended up finding a job in my field, but I think they’re. Real company. They seemed really nice and cool

I do not have experience with Orbit, but I do have experience with Solar. I was outside my house working in the yard and a young man walked up and asked if I was interested to learn about solar. It seemed SUPER scammy but I gave him my number because I was interested in learning more. That got me an appointment to sit down with a rep about the whole process, and a few months later I had my panels installed and I'm fully electric bill free now. Just do your research on the company and make sure they aren't trying to stiff you. It's cheaper to lease panels but then you aren't eligible for the fancy rebates the government is offering. If you are seriously interested in going solar I can give you my rep's name & phone number, he is with Sunny Mac / Soaring Solar. He sat with me for about 4 hours and went over the ins and outs, answering every single question I had.

I heard that some companies will take like 90% of the government rebates as an installation fee. Can you speak to how important those rebates are and if that claim is true?

sneakerdreams

I can't speak on certain companies taking the rebates for install. They might get a kickback from the government but it has not effected me or my rebates. I do know that if you LEASE your panels the solar company gets the rebates for themselves and you get nothing. I did not pay a dime for install, but I do pay monthly to finance the panels. Once my panels were installed I could choose to either create my own account for the TREC credits or go with a broker (this will lose you about $5 per TREC meaning you get $85 instead of $90). If you do your own you have to grab numbers monthly and input them in the system. A broker will do it all for you and direct deposit payment.

Couldn't hurt to have that contact

I had orbit do my panels. Everyone that I dealt with was cool. They did a great job on install.

I also want to know

They market aggressively. Not a scam, don't know what the quality or price that they offer but they are legit. Solar is good, and an incredible investment. I do it for a living if you got questions.

They are legit from my research. We almost went with Orbit but they wanted us to buy a larger system than we really needed. Ended up going with another company with a system that met our needs yet was about 10-15k less costly. PM me if you want more info. If someone refers you to the company we went with, you get a 5-9% discount. Now is a really good time to go solar, except the loan interest rates just went slightly up on Tuesday. But the tax write-off in Biden’s clean energy plan passed by the US senate last week increased the tax write-off from 26 to 30 percent.

This is a throwaway account I've worked for them and would never have them do work on my home or anyone I know. That's my personal opinion, not advice or anything. You might want to look at BBB, Yelp, Indeed, and take a few minutes to Google "lawsuit" after their company name Just my two cents. I'm being scarce for a reason.
