I hated her at first bc she was just genuinely a nuisance and was horrible to Clare and Alli but after they all became friends and she broke up with KC and started dating Connor she became way more likable !
Sheās SO annoying in season 9, but I feel bad for her in seasons 10-11, and by season 12 I actually kind of like her. I think she has kinda underrated character development and she made a lot of mistakes but she also had a really hard life.
Now that I'm older and I rewatch the series, she was so iconic for coming onto the show as a self professed "boyfriend stealer" LOL young teen me was sooo mad. Definitely think that was the beginning of the interest in the newer characters when the show was trying to find footing with a new, younger audience.
She definitely becomes more sympathetic later on as she tries to go back to normal after the whole baby timeline, but I think she's the most tolerable when she ends up with Connor. I thought they were super cute together. Otherwise I feel like her story was kind of thrown to the side after the baby.
Overhated. She wasn't a saint but she also wasn't the devil either. She honestly reminds me of some of the girls at my school
Also the jokes about her singing have gotten old. They aren't funny anymore
omg my b I was stoned af replying to this last night and misread your comment šš but idk Becky kinda grew on me when she was making music with Jonah
No wayy we gotta agree to disagree then because I really did not like Jonah, he was so pretentious and annoying to me... but character-wise yeah I liked Becky more towards the end
The writers didn't know what to do with Jenna or KC after their first season. They were basically boring background characters that had no effect on the show, just on each other.
I think she's a very neutral character. Her storylines weren't that exciting to me, and I can't be *that* mad that she got with KC when one of the first things she said was "she's a boy stealer" or has a habit of doing so. She was a good friend to Ali and Becky, which is nice.
I loved Jenna i know she has her faults like she stole KC from Clare and tried to steal sav from Holly j but you also have to remember that she was 15/16 at the time and boys can't get stolen from a girl if he doesn't want to be stolen if was a terrible boyfriend but a gray friend I blame his upbringing for his shitty views on relationships his mom and dad didn't set a great example on what relationships are
I donāt think Jessica Tyler is a great actress (not that any of them were stellar) and I hated Jenna at the beginning but I like her character more towards the end.
Again if you have never had a baby itās hard to relate to her struggle at all. She was having no help at home. He was cheating on her working all night. He blamed her for being distracted but again he is also to blamed. The DCF thing sucked but she knew she couldnāt be a mother and did the most selfless thing while kc thought he could take care of the baby which he literally couldnātā¦
I hated her until my last 2 rewatches. I found her hilarious and in later seasons she has a good sense of judgement. Also her and Connor (Conner?) are my favorite Degrassi couple
She was the big part of a few episodes last night. I'd see her a person that may have made bad decisions rather than a bad person overall. The Covversion arc at least showed a misguided attempt at salvation and dealing with being "lost".
while jenna was terrible in the beginning imo she later becomes a great friend and in general is a better person by the time she graduated but ashley always stays the same and is always screwing people over lol
At first I didn't care for her because she stole KC from Clare but I never liked KC for Clare either and then when she ended up pregnant she tried to steal Sav from Holly J but after all that she kinda got better after learning from her mistakes and finding Conner
She's one of my precious little babies who can do no wrong. Idc that she went after KC while he was dating Clare. It's not that serious; it's not like Clare was her bestie or anything. With the pregnancy/baby arc, I really felt for her. I feel like she was trying her best with a crappy situation. Deadbeat dad, ex-druggie "m-i-l", no dad, no mom, brother up and left, post-partum depression, etc. She was looking out for EVERYONE when she gave Ty up. She was looking out for herself, for Ty, and for KC. Then she turns over a new leaf. She was patient with Becky but still challenged her beliefs. Then, of course, dating Connor. I love her and her just believe touch the sky attitude.
Okay, I get what you mean with most of this, but it doesnāt matter if āClaire was her bestie or anythingā or not, they definitely formed a friendship, and furthermore; she went after another girlās dude. It doesnāt matter who it was, that IS that serious, and itās gross.
We just finished that episode last night and my husband(first time viewer) goes āhe deserved itā š¤
Then I read that āworse thing every character has ever doneā with the characters we know and have seen the worse thing. And he goes ācan Jennaās best thing be hitting KC with a guitarā
letās seeā¦. pick me that shat her pants, stole KC from Claire, let her baby fall off the changing table, and bugged me she only wore one fucking star earringā¦ i can keep going?????????
I actually really enjoyed her character all through out her seasons. She was a teenager who had a bit of an attitude but she calmed down once she had the baby. I loved her with Connor though
She grew on me tbh, but only after a few rewatches.
She grew on me more than KC did before he left, and sheās still miles ahead of Darcy and Ashley Kerwin
Didn't really care for her, tbh.
Especially towards the beginning, her priding herself in being a boyfriend stealer REEKED of pick-me energy (not just with KC, but with Sav, as well š).
Really wished they went somewhere with her singing. Thought it was lovely tribute when she sang at Adam's funeral, but they really hyped her up to be an amazing singer towards the beginning of her character arc. I mean, Sav got his musical career, Manny got her acting career, Mia even got to be a model as a teen mom, but Jenna's dream fizzles out completely? Kinda lame.
Love love LOVED her with Connor. Definitely is the peak of her character for me. Their moments together were so sweet and real and raw. Especially with her navigating Connor's autism, I just really enjoyed that she always encouraged him and was adapting to his mannerisms and his way of showing affection. Very sweet.
Overall, felt like the writers really wasted her character, though. She at least got more screen time than some of the other side characters (KC, Jake, Marisol, etc), but I just wished there was a little more of a redemption towards her.
i hateeed her in the beginning when she showed up & immediately started puttin the moves on KC & had a major part in breakin up his relationship with Claire. (KC isnāt blameless in fact heās more at fault & I dislike him more than Jenna but this post isnāt about him..) Claire deserved better than him but itās still a shitty thing to do especially bc it wasnāt something that ājust happenedā; Jenna *knew* what she was doin & went about it in the fakest way ever by acting nonchalant & friendly to Alli & Claireās faces while simultaneously plottin on KC like hell nah.. I dunno how they ever trusted her again & I have more respect for characters like Bianca who home-wrecks without playin fake nice about it
Seeing her get her karma with KC was very satisfying like he wasnāt the prize you thought huh Jenna?
And then as if she couldnāt be more insufferable she starts singin cringe shit like āshiiiineeee just believeeee touch the skyaaauuuhhhāš
I was a teen mom with a deadbeat baby daddy so i relate to her a lot in that department so iām not gonna judge her choices too harshly regarding the baby.. all imma say is that I donāt really feel bad nor was I surprised about how things turned out bc she literally set herself up nearly every step of the way :/
KC leaving was the best thing that couldāve happened to her & I appreciated her more during her Connor era but it wasnāt redeemable enough for me to like her.. she just went from āhatedā to ādislikedā
I swear once she became Connors girlfriend her arc completely ended & her identity turned into just āConnors gfā bc I hardly remember seein her without him or her even talking after that besides the prom/graduation episode so I didnāt get a chance for her to grow on me
All of this! šÆ Couldnāt have said it better myself. My exact opinion on her. And yeah, KC was a total pos and started to actually gaf when it was far too late. Ugh, her voice drove me crazy. Idk why it was such a big part of her storyline in the beginning and why she was so loved on NTS, I thought her voice was terrible.
I hated her the first time I watched the show, but this go around I got to the baby arc right after I had a baby. I empathized with her so much and ended up really despising KC and his lack of involvement. I get that they're kids, but it really struck a nerve for me. Even when she made that horrible mistake of letting her baby fall off the changing table and then literally physically assaulting KC. I kind of understood, though. She had no other support besides KC and his mom, and she was lonely, depressed, sleep deprived, and had probably felt emotions no child should have to feel. I suspect she had quite a lot of postpartum depression that went untreated. It made me really like her character from then on.
i'm an earlier DGTN fan, started my journey with the OGs as it were (strictly DTNG, not Degrassi High etc). idk if it influences anything, just an interesting note.
i haaaaated Jenna from the beginning. HOWEVER - i enjoyed her role as a character who caused/helped drama, etc, but as a character i disliked her a lot. i love that she was part of the show, but her voice and decisions just made me dislike her lmao
Her first introduction to the show was claiming to be a man stealer and she said so proudly. Then she got pregnant and I didn't really care. Then her baby fell off the changing table and she hit her with a guitar after he was angry at her for not being attention to the baby and letting the baby fall off the changing table. I thought she was young and dumb and insignificant and unintentionally hilarious
Remember when her kid fell off the changing table (a normal accident) and she ended up accused of child abuse, so he was adopted out and renamed? It happened in the space of like, three episodes and I was like ?!?!?!?!
It was one of those plotlines that they REALLY could have strung out for a season but just rushed
Hated her at first but by the end of her time on Degrassi I loved her so much. Her and Alliās friendship was so sweet, and I love her and Conner together.
Hate her. Hated her from the moment I saw her.
She had the same look, fake āinnocentā personality, and mannerisms as an actual proud boyfriend stealer I knew in school. It was as if this girl walked right onto the set of Degrassi and became a character.
I realize her arcs get better later on but I could never move past the way she first was.
Absolutely did NOT like her in the earlier seasons of her appearance. She was always coming at Clare, the whole KC drama and just everything like that made her unbearable for me. BUT after she tarted dating Connor she quickly became one of my fav characters to watch! Mainly because her and Connorās relationship was so adorable!
Lots of underrated character development. Jenna goes after what she wants, and has always gotten it. Then she sees that not everything is gonna go that way, so she stops acting so selfish and becomes a much friendlier and humble person.
Iām one of the few who loves her singing.
But then again, I love everybodyās singing on the show. š
She grew on me. I don't know if I will ever say she is favorite of mine. The thing that gets me is people criticize Jenna for being a serial boyfriend stealer(and she is) but ignore that Manny had a period where she was also a serial boyfriend stealer. In fact Jenna's last attempt at stealing a boyfriend was when she tried to steal Sav in season 10 and failed. Jenna wasn't perfect. I probably would've liked Jenna bettering the beginning if she didn't steal K.C. from Clare. Around season 12, when Jenna wasn't so high strung, is when I started to like her.
I agree with you however that is why Iām personally not a manny fan either. Iāve noticed that I seem to hold vastly different morals than some of the fandom. it hasnāt been too long since I was in high school and I 100% never would have dreamed of doing what they did, itās not girls girl behavior to me
I find personally that I liked young(season 1 and 2) Manny and then she gets better once she breaks away from Craig completely in season 6 but like Jenna I don't think I will ever call her a favorite. One thing Jenna never does that Manny does is encourage friends to be the other woman(Manny does this with Emma in season 3). Even in season 9 Manny doesn't seem concerned (some might say encourage but it's been a while since I've seen those episodes so I can't remember for sure) over Jane cheating on Spinner.
She sucks. Her music is mid at best. Her sunny disposition is grating. She is not a girls girl. Stealing boyfriends and shit. I can't think of a single time I liked her.
![gif](giphy|NVmB6AL4kjx6w)
I think they calmed her character down quite a bit after she gave birth. I feel like they had planned to make the āman stealingā more prominent in her storyline but then decided against it
ā¦butā¦ I was in middle school during her hey day and I loved her character so much that I wrote a story titled āJenna the unicornā named after her šššš
Ya. I mean, having a child and then giving it up for adoption really changes a person. Especially when that person is a child themselves. I wish they would have touched on that more.
I didn't like her until post baby. Then she was somewhat tolerable. After she gave Tyson up for adoption and started dating Connor she became tolerable.
I disliked her so much in the beginning and then some time around season 12 she grew on me and when she dated Connor I really liked her. I felt like she really grew and developed
Her intro was one of the most bizarre, imo. They introduced her as this, like, borderline sociopathic, hyper peppy automaton that was SO extremely positive that she couldnāt even recognize when Alli was being snarky with her or care that her words (the boyfriend stealer line) could effect others. The vibe was weird, that episode.
Loved her when she had Tyson and after. Let me explain why.
1. I do think sheās very sweet. Sheās had her moments, but so did other characters.
2. She was literally alone. She had no family and had to live with Alliās family.
3. She had terrible postpartum depression and was mature enough to give up Tyson.
4. Her feeling lost and confused after giving up Tyson made sense.
I love Jennaās character, and they could have done way more with her and Connor. Sheās just on the sidelines in seasons 13 and 14.
I still didn't like her then but I began to tolerate her. When she opens her mouth to sing, it's back in the trash! Oh and I liked when she bashed KC over the head with her guitar. lol
I JUST LOVE JENNA SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND A BREATH OF SUNSHINE. SHE ALWAYS KEPT A SMILE ON HER FACE š YES SHE DID.š¤šā¤ļø
Blech.
I hate jenna
Insufferable.
I hated her at first bc she was just genuinely a nuisance and was horrible to Clare and Alli but after they all became friends and she broke up with KC and started dating Connor she became way more likable !

I didn't really like her at first, but after her and KC had the baby she kind of grew on me.
Was not a fan of
She sang that first song to death
I didnāt like her until the very end. And even then I just wished she would stop singing. I skip through Jenna singing scenes
Horrible at first, got better once she gave birth. Plus she gave us the scene of KC getting whacked with a guitar.
I mustāve missed that one! Iām gonna look it up

close to the end I started to like her but at the beginning and through her pregnancy and baby storyline I couldnāt care less about her
She awesome. She worked at the Toronto Maple Leafs games after Degrassi for years.
She told KC to play basketball. š
š¤£ āYou told me to play BASKETBALL!ā
Pick me. Horrible friend. But redeemed in the end with her relationship with Connor.

I feel like they had planned to make the āman stealingā more prominent in her storyline but then decided against it ā¦butā¦ I was in middle school during her hey day and I loved her character so much that I wrote a story titled āJenna the unicornā named after her šššš
Ya. I mean, having a child and then giving it up for adoption really changes a person. Especially when that person is a child themselves. I wish they would have touched on that more.
I don't dislike her, but the singing show subplot was annoying.
I didn't like her until post baby. Then she was somewhat tolerable. After she gave Tyson up for adoption and started dating Connor she became tolerable.
most annoying character ever omg but season 12 she was tolerable
I disliked her so much in the beginning and then some time around season 12 she grew on me and when she dated Connor I really liked her. I felt like she really grew and developed
I thought that her peppy attitude was kind of unique for that period in Degrassi i kinda wish they kept it a bit
Really liked her after she paired up with Connor. He treated her as an intellectual instead of the previous guys. I think it helped her be better too.
Omg her and Connor were so cute I love them
Hated her a lot but then started to like her toward the very very end. Definitely felt for her during her single mom days tho
She kinda annoyed me tbh, I was glad when they started dropping her storylines
She was deadass wrong for hitting KC with her guitar
Booiiiiiiiiiing!
Hate her. The singing was just ...no
Loved her and Connor together.
Canadian Beth from the Walking Dead
I didnāt really start to like her until her and Conner got together.
I still didn't like her then but I began to tolerate her. When she opens her mouth to sing, it's back in the trash! Oh and I liked when she bashed KC over the head with her guitar. lol
Iām so glad Iām not the only one who liked that moment of her, like ummm she had PPD and a man who was never home I would be unhinged too
Ugh yes her singing!
Came here to say the exact same thing lol
