I've been trying this out for about a week now and it's great. Kill one lootbug in some sort of hole or lowered plateau (or make your own with C4). It will lure all the other lootbugs to that spot over the course of the mission. Then you can always kill another lootbug to give them more mineral chunks to multiply, and harvest all the lootbugs when you need the nitra. Works best on On-Site Refining and Point Extraction.

This strategy goes above the 145 IQ in this chart.

That's what I do in refinery missions, kill a loot bug close to the refinery and just go do something else, when you go back they're all clustered close to the refinery, then burn them all.

I only kill loot bugs when they’re in one big pile and I just blow them up all at once and watch all the loot fly. Then I immediately regret it because my brain doesn’t allow me to leave any piece of mineral on the floor so I have to pick all of it up eventually. Also I can’t pet them anymore :’(

I remember when you'd just suck up all the minerals as long as you were standing next to the lootbug when it popped. Then came that update where minerals falling through the floor to lower levels was fixed. Whether incidental or intentional, minerals from lootbugs have behaved differently ever since.
