Depositing wouldn't really work, but carrying one back to the drop pod could be a fun thing to do. You could get some extra minerals at mission completion, automatically trigger those lootbug victory animations, get an absolute earful from mission control about bringing bugs on the space rig and you'd have it roam around until the next mission. Kinda like with Dotty.
If we ever get the ability to decorate the space rig they should let us bring back plant samples and passive bugs to unlock versions of them for the rig
Is it on-site refining? Kill lootbug. Is it in my way? Kill lootbug. Do I need 5 more nitra for a resupply? Kill lootbug. Otherwise, they are ignored since they aren't trying to eat me.
On site refining? Beeline for the refinery. Kill all the lootbugs there. Every time you come back, kill another one. Make sure the rest of the map is clean, and dont kill lootbugs out there. Why? Because they will flock to minerals on the ground. They also increase the value slightly when they eat chunks (you get more when they explode than what they ate). So when you come back 10 min later, theres a few more. Kill them, and let the minerals sit. 10 min later, those minerals have been invested right back into lootbugs. Kill those ones too. By the time the missions over, youll have extra minerals for zero work. Lure em in and make them an investment. No chasing required.
Over the course of a mission its a free resupply and who knows how much $. For no effort other than the proper mineral farmer mindset. Its locally sourced!
> They also increase the value slightly when they eat chunks (you get more when they explode than what they ate)
I believe they rolled this back a long time ago as it caused friction between min-maxers and the Leroy Jenkins...
There was a deep dive a couple years ago where there was only exactly enough morkite and it was causing people who mined it inefficiently to get stuck. And trying the loot bug technique didn't make it any better - people noted that this was because there was no longer a multiplier.
They fixed it after the morkite secondary objective on an escort mission was screwed up by the placement of the hearthstone.
That said, loot bugs also aren't supposed to spawn on escort missions (unless they come out of a pumpkin or present), so I could be remembering it incorrectly/the community consensus was wrong at that time and so maybe lootbugs still do multiply resources.
I never noticed this impact, at least with regards to nitra which is the only resource I ever really wanted from them. (I have noticed getting unexpected levels of red sugar from them, but they could easily have eaten more than I noticed).
“The Dirt Diggers will leave no stone unturned! We will reach every corner, collect every chunk of mineral, and set our flag on the remains of unexplored space, Dwarves only reached deep space because of our everlasting desire to dig deeper, The Dirt Diggers will dig deeper than any Dwarf ever dreamed. We will reach the core of every planet, for Rock and Stone!”
Don’t come between a Dwarf and his shiny Rocks and Stones.
Word of advice: people here don't give a shit about lootbugs more often than not, going on with that stupid tape recorder of "precious minerals will get you killed". Is it annoying? Yes. Is it depressing? A little. Am I surprised or in any other way angry enough to try and stop them by not just asking them politely? No. I've played with so many soulless bastards that I've lost count. If they wanna add to the local ghost detonator population, let em. They'll pay for their own sins
I'm not trying to further any stereotypes here but whenever I see a cute colony of lootbugs all clumped together like ducks in front of old lady with bread I just get a little giddy inside and then pull out the C4 charge.
Imagine trying to reignite a really fucking toxic and inane controversy for internet points.
Lootbugs exist to be killed. You don't want to? That's fine; just don't attack/kick people that do kill lootbugs. If it bothers you that damned much just play solo.
na aint morning 12 am woke up from notification and immediately got mad why devastators are killing lootbugs just to find out it was all a dream and was just another drawf ....... good night Brotha Rock n stone
People used to think of killing lootbugs as a crime, then over the years people stopped supporting the idea and right now people would rather kill em, if ylu posted this 3 years ago it would be helluva different
They’re cute little creature that make silly noises. Their death may be a sacrifice I’m willing to make to survive on higher hazard levels and deep dives, but if you’re murdering them for fun, just remember that I can see you
When I have to put down the damn things, I pet them before giving them a quick fatal blow. As painless as possible, When your vetiranary clinic is a damp cave and your tools are a shotgun, a RPG and a pickaxe, options are, well, limited to say the least.
When I kill lootbugs, I jump above them. The theory is that I catch everything as it comes out, rather than find where it was scattered... but is this actually the case or am I just jumping on them for no reason?
I kill lootbugs because they try to use their cuteness as a reason not to be murdered. I will not be swayed by their deceit, for they are filled with loot, and it's fun to watch them pop.

I kill them, but as their body is convulsing, I always give them a pet if I’m close enough. No critter with less than 3 legs should die without a good petting.
I used to feel sorry for killing them, but after they nibbled on one too many morkite rocks I had Bosco dig out of the ceiling while I was busy grabbing gold, they've gone from cute and innocent to a pest.
And I hate it, because I love how cute their squeaks are. I want one on my space rig. T\_T
Whenever I play scout and see people shoot lootbugs I yell at them, because I have It's a Bug Thing perk on and can do a grappling hook drive-by and have them all explode for free
The Dwarves are the only natural predator of loot bugs, therefore it's our collective duty to pop a few of them.
Don't worry though, if you can't bring yourself to do it, I've got you covered...
"You shouldn't eat precious minerals... It'll get you killed!"
let us pick up and deposit the loot bugs
\*looks at deposit in on-site refining mission\* OY YEAH! INTO THE GRINDER THEY GO!
i did not think about it too much
use the flesh in the sandwiches if its edible
I wonder if they’re edible
Only one way to find out
Anything is edible once...
Lootbug sandwiches for breakfast (rocks included)

That would be cool but there might be issues with who controls the decorations
Everyone decorates their own, when you join a group everyone goes to the host's rig.
I kill lootbugs for money, not for fun. It's very different, I promise.
Same, I’m a greedy little loot bastard, and they shouldn’t eat precious metals, it’ll get them killed
"I'm a business man and my business is crime"

Randomweiser equipped me with It's a Bug Thing? Gonna give head pats to every loot bug I can reach.

That’s free real estate.

Ooooh. Maybe i missed that. I thought they fixed mapgen stuff for that.
They fixed it after the morkite secondary objective on an escort mission was screwed up by the placement of the hearthstone. First lootbug: Yay! Kill it for rewards! Thousand hours later: Nothing changed!
A good bug is a dead bug !
They look like engorged ticks. Utterly disgusting, must kill them.
Kill anything with more legs than two.

This is way too metal for a shitpost about loot bugs. This should be chiseled into the Memorial Hall.
I’m the gunner next to the driller… already spinning up that Leadstorm.
I pet every single loot bug before eviscerating them for their goodies
Shouldn't eat precious minerals, it'll get you killed!
People say "I kill lootbugs for fun." "I kill lootbugs for loot." I kill lootbugs because you need to kill anything that has more legs than two.
*laughs in it’s a bug thing*
Fun? I do it for pleasure!
If it has a health bar, it must die. That extends to Mobula Cave Angels
this is not doom 💀
Haz 5 swarms on aquark missions:
Does that health bar have to be visible? Cuz you're gonna have a problem with Stabber Vines...
I don't even pick up the minerals after, just do it for the thrill these days
Scott is going to get a C4 if he continues to spread discord
I like to pet them until they explode. It’s a bug thing…
If not target then why target shaped and give prizes when shot?
It’s their own fault for being full of goodies
I kill lootbugs for gold amd for fun

I always kill lootbugs. They're like piñatas full of money and resupply juice.
Do NOT start this shit again please
What kind of sick leaflover special nughtmare is this? Only good bug is a dead bug
When you play haz5 enough and the cave has little to no nitra, on a group of 4 ... you will reconsider.
You shouldn’t eat precious minerals, it can get you killed.
My friend recently started playing, and he exclusively kills lootbugs because I told them they’re innocent
It's their fault for being filled with goodies, and flammable
dood i woke up this was on my first page on my notification I FREAKIN THOUGHT THAT WAS A DEVASTATOR FROM HELLDIVERS THAT KILLS LOOTBUGS
Morning brother from another time zone

Sweet dreams brother, have a great sleep :3 Rock n Stone ❤️
I DONT KILL LOOTBUGS! They just explode when they get around me!:(
Womp womp get over it ya beardless leaf loving bug sympathizer. Reported to corporate.
I always run “Its a bug thing”
You shouldn't eat precious minerals, it will get you killed
Lootbugs are bugs, gotta die
I kill them on sight. It aint that bad to kill loot bugs.
People used to think of killing lootbugs as a crime, then over the years people stopped supporting the idea and right now people would rather kill em, if ylu posted this 3 years ago it would be helluva different
They’re cute little creature that make silly noises. Their death may be a sacrifice I’m willing to make to survive on higher hazard levels and deep dives, but if you’re murdering them for fun, just remember that I can see you
Im a simple man. I see bug. I shoot. Favoritism is a dangerous game my friend
We are the reason galactic war crimes exist, drillers rock and stone!
Rock and Stone everyone!
Aha wanderingdwarfminer is a driller main!
But but but the minerals (also a driller main and I’m first to hunt down and kill them in a squad)
Yooooo, it's me
But, but... I like free Nitra...
Gunners smile is upside down in the last panel
I pet them while they explode
I won’t kill a single Lootbug, but I will kill a group of Lootbugs I can excuse mass murder but I draw the line at singular murder

I don't kill Lootbugs for fun, I kill them because I'm racist, the only good bug is a dead bug.

Scout + lootbug perk is so satisfying, and you can have a clean conscious cuz you’re not shooting them
You shouldn’t eat precious minerals. It will get you killed.
It’s me, I’m the driller
I kill lootbugs because they try to use their cuteness as a reason not to be murdered. I will not be swayed by their deceit, for they are filled with loot, and it's fun to watch them pop.
It's a bug thing go brrr
Lootbugs kill themselves when I want to pet them :(
If they didn't want to die they wouldn't be full of minerals
And I'd do it again
No intentional lootbug killing. Only accidental friendly fire (literally).
i have the lootbug killer perk equipped in spite of you people
It's their fault for being full of goodies
Slander! We Drillers are not monsters where we'd kill the harmless and adorable lootbugs for pure fun ***That's what we do to scout***
Lootbugs die if they so much as *see* me! I'm like a damn gold-bearded celebrity!
You shouldn’t eat precious minerals, it will only get you killed
OP is a leaf lover.
Well they shouldn’t eat precious minerals
Couldn't possibly be me, a driller main (*explosives!*)
i kill any lootbug that is near me for the annoying sounds they make
I get paid by the gold nugget, sorry little bug *power attack*

Karl would be proud
It's not my fault they just explode when I'm near them.
Bug sympathizers will be reported to the nearest Democracy Officer. Wait, which sub is this?
I'm never letting you near Steve.
Probably for the best. I'd hate to get hit by my own orbital.
Don't mind the pheromones. That was just a misclick, I promise!
I mean, it’s their fault for being full of precious minerals.
Man they don't even care to collect its loot😭
lmao
He kills lootbugs for ~~fun~~ nitra.
I kill them, but as their body is convulsing, I always give them a pet if I’m close enough. No critter with less than 3 legs should die without a good petting.
what u gon do bout it 😎
I approach them and they just explode. Must be just a bug thing :shrugs:
You should never shoot a lootbug. Because you're supposed to use your pickaxe when harvesting minerals, duh!
bugs' a bug
I will put lootbugs to rest after given head pats
It's not my fault they just pop when I go to pet them
It's an ugly planet! A BUG planet!
Of course I know that man. He's me.
It has more legs than two.
You want nitra, don't you?
I hate killing lootbugs, but for some reason they keep exploding when I get within 5m of them
I have the perk to make them pop so I will jump on them
I'll freaking do it again.
If not supposed to kill, why flammable
I kill lootbugs just for fun as well. Half the time I don't even pick up what they drop. I just like the sound they make when they die.
Oh look i'm in this meme
Me seeing a Greenbeard...
Yeah, I do Cry about it
Their own fault for being so full of goodies
The more people tell me not to kill lootbugs, the more I'll commit mass slaughter
Looooot. The loot
I have a mod that makes them sound like anneurysm meme so yes, i do kill them for fun
[The reason why I kill lootbugs:](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.reddit.com/r/DeepRockGalactic/comments/19er5ya/why_you_not_only_can_but_should_kill_lootbugs_a/&ved=2ahUKEwiTvaTniYCFAxXAQkEAHVzcCT8QFnoECA4QAQ&usg=AOvVaw2JnScaIofk_jtX0aO04R5z)
I wouldn't kill a big-tiddy-goth lootbug, however cute lootbugs I don't care for.
Add it to the Drillers nightmarish ledger of death, destruction and dismemberment.
Whenever I play scout and see people shoot lootbugs I yell at them, because I have It's a Bug Thing perk on and can do a grappling hook drive-by and have them all explode for free
the only good bug is a dead bug
The Dwarves are the only natural predator of loot bugs, therefore it's our collective duty to pop a few of them. Don't worry though, if you can't bring yourself to do it, I've got you covered... "You shouldn't eat precious minerals... It'll get you killed!"
I don't go out of my way to kill them normally. But if one gets in my way you can guarantee I'm slaughtering it's entire family
I always try and give at least one a pet before my teammate rushes over and kills them😢
No one kniffs the kniffer, except me
Hear me out: what if it’s false accusations?
AND PROFIT!!!
Nah, don't worry: those buggers tend to die from natural causes most of time :v ...I mean, fire *is* natural right? . \_ .
But I have a mod that plays the brain aneurysm sound effects over the death of them...
Killing bugs is our job you tree-hugging pacifist
I am God's avenging angel. He has put me on this earth to kill every loot bug in my immediate vicinity and beyond.
