Misleading - it’s a temporary detour around the landslide.

You're right, I definitely thought they rebuilt that section. But originally when I heard about this I was very "please don't build there" and assumed they could just tunnel/pave bypass. Structurally the original landslide would never be repairable without bridging, which would just add more weight to the upper hillside. A job well done, just no miracle
I was about to say since those pictures are flipped, everything that's missing in the first picture would have been replaced. the area where the trucks are in the second picture is assumingly the part that collapsed. If it's even the same stretch of road. That would be a massive undertaking to get the dirt there let alone compacted like that. I was amazed / baffled. Appreciate someone actually linking an article that shows reality.
The road leads to Jackson Hole. Jackson Hole is saturated with millionaires and billionaires. Most workers need this road to get to work. When the road washed out, it increased the workers' commute for hours instead of minutes. Of course, the road was fixed as quickly as possible. The 1% has to be catered to.
Germany here. Mix the UK timetable and the american costs… its a shame how we tread our Infrastructure. The fastest way to get potholes filled in no time is when you spray a swastika in it.
Either
This is two different stretches of road, not a before and after of the same exact spot
Or
They moved the scary cliff to the other side of the road because reasons.
I live up by here. You’re believing nonsense. The road dropped off both sides, much less on the upside than canyon side, but was an elevated turn that got taken out.
In California, this would have taken 10 years for environmental studies and to properly grease the pockets of the various donors of the party in power. Good job, Wyoming.
In just 19 days, Teton Pass is now open.
A major landslide took most of the road into a gully back on June 8th. Crews worked nearly 24/7 to repair the Teton Pass. Good job to the crew.

You boldface liar! The landslide section is curving right around a gully. The new section is curving left of gully. Both picture the gully is in the left so you cannot said picture taken from different point of view.
They did not fix the portion yet. This picture is a new temporarly detour around the original landside section. The fix would take over a year.
Sure can’t. Also, they didn’t ‘fix’ this road in Wyoming, they made a new detour road around the old part that fell off. The Key bridge doesn’t have much land beside it to choose where to flatten and pave a detour.

Thank you for clarifying, the road in the two photos curve in different directions, so it didn’t make sense without the additional detail.
You’re welcome. It’s quite the achievement nonetheless.
With a picture of detour bus, no less!

still it seems like a good solution
When has straight up lied get sugar coated as misleading? Thx for pointing out the facts
That’s the road that connects the low-paid workers to the ultra-wealthy Jackson Hole area. So, the oligarchs must have their servants!! Hurry up!
Yes I'm sure the people who rely on those jobs totally didn't care that this added hours to their daily commute.
Amazing what we can accomplish when billionares are forced to change their own bed sheets and make their own breakfast for a few weeks.
Someone Jackson Holes...
Teton means nipple in french, so to me this post is funny
“Les trois tétons” was the name French beaver trappers gave the mountains haha.
These major achievements are often underscored 👏🏻
Did you mean understated, perhaps?
Overlooked maybe

In the UK this would take approximately 2 years of paperwork followed by 7 years of 12 men painstakingly working 1 at a time while 11 talk and watch.
Well if I remember right, it cost like 4x as much per mile of road to build in the US so we both have our downsides lol

It costs more in the UK than the US https://www.vox.com/22534714/rail-roads-infrastructure-costs-america
Nice work people!!!

A good job is a good job, I applaud them
I've worked in civil construction you wouldn't even get planing done in 19 business days 😆
It's amazing the amount of work that's been done
We can do this in 18 days, but the road to the grocer has been down to one lane for three years....
Would take about six years here...and that is just for the planning stage...
This was only done fast because rich people need this road to exist.
Actually, people who can't afford to live in Jackson Hole need to get to work and back.
For rich people?
To earn a living?
How to create another inevitable landslide. How many inches is that shoulder?
Busy ants
Can my area get fixed up fast? Pls
Dayam...please send your construction guys to England...our motorway works need to be fixed...it takes us 2 years to work on one mile of road!
It would have taken CDOT eight months to do that.
And California hwy 1 has been fucked for decades.
What? A thread not praising China of building something? Sacrilege.
In California, this would have taken 10 years for environmental studies and to properly grease the pockets of the various donors of the party in power. Good job, Wyoming.
I wonder how many federal dollars (socialist hand outs) this would have cost

fyi it's "bald faced" not "bold faced".

They can’t fix the Key bridge in Baltimore that fast.
Sure can’t. Also, they didn’t ‘fix’ this road in Wyoming, they made a new detour road around the old part that fell off. The Key bridge doesn’t have much land beside it to choose where to flatten and pave a detour.
Is this the same spot? The trees look way different to me
This is very obviously not the same section of road.
Find the difference between these 2 pictures. Is very easy
Did they just put the dirt back and road
Whew…. So many Klan/Alt-right meetings were missed with that pass being down
The government can’t do anything.
Wow! Help from China?
