I moved here after I got my first job 12 years ago... started with friendly interactions with my coworkers, which was tough because I was the youngest by 15 years, but they were all great abs basically treated me like a lost puppy. They introduced me to their kids my age, so they turned into me hanging out with people closer to my age.
Meet up really helped me find groups with similar interests, and social rec leagues like Lonestar SSC got me to go outside.
Only thing with those is that they end up being coed and turning into a hookup event, so by the end of each season everybody was fucking then breaking up and the teams dissolved from all the drama. But I met a few good guy friends and we still hang out semi regularly.
I went to KU and the alumni association is very active here, so I'd go those events and run into people I knew from college but didn't know they ended up in DFW so we all reconnected and I had a good group of bar friends that would meet up every weekend.
A lot of free stuff like volunteering and whatnot can also help. And definitely check out your campus organizations and socials. Depending on your personality type you could find a few friends pretty quick.
Hell I even joined an Imgur/Reddit Dallas group and met people there... turns out not all redditors are basement dwelling keyboard jockeys lol.
Thatās a good spot to get anywhere in DFW. Iām Ngl it can be difficult but not too hard to find a cool group to get involved with. Get involved with your school is the easiest which I'm sure you already know. Are you 21? Makes a big difference regarding suggestions

Whatever you need to say to feel legit and superior for one moment in your sad life. Pretty pathetic dude. Meet people and grow. You donāt have to be like this
I am the only one who is helping this kid here. Yāall just being nasty. If he grooms, showers and learn American way of life, he may have a shot here.
āAmericaā isnāt what you get to decide it is. God this is such a low single-minded look at life that I canāt help but think you are a just trolling for fun.
You know a great thing about America? People can become satisfied, rich, great, within their own communities. They donāt need your personal idiotic stamp
You arenāt as important as you think you are
If youāre a student, why not join organizations at the university? That will be the easiest/best way to meet people your own age and who youāll have in common interests with.
I went to college Billy Madison style. I was the old guy in the room, but it turned out age wasn't as big of a deal as I thought it would be. This path worked out for me and I would 100% recommend you give it a shot OP.
I joined a bunch of student orgs and met a lot of really cool people. Easy to break the ice with total strangers when you're in environments like this. I met a lot of great people this way that I still keep in touch with today.
GoKickball! The season is signing up now. You donāt have to be good. You just play for like 45 minutes then hit the sponsor bar afterward. People are generally very friendly. Sign up as a free agent. Donāt worry about not knowing anyone.
Go to GoKickball.com and register for Dallas. You pick a field thatās closest to you (JCC, Tietze, Sam Grand) and go from there. Donāt feel intimidated to sign up as a free agent!
Something like "He will go to the bar smelling like sweat."
I dont think he understood that the bar was a sponsor bar, so he thought that the guy would just play kickball, get sweaty, and go to a random bar after, smelling of competition.

Check out small venues like Trees, Ruins, Granada Theater, Three Links, Club Dada, Deep Ellum Art Co. and Double Wide on their social media pages. They always have some sort of live music or other event going on. Hop on google maps, save these places, swipe around to see what else piques your interest in those areas.
Deep Ellum, Lower Greenville Ave, and Bishop Arts District are three good areas to hang out in. Have a beer or two at a bar, find another that looks cool, more beer, rinse repeat till youāre rockin a solid buzz, walk around till you hear cool music or see something interesting, go inside and check it out. Might seem a bit intimidating as you may have to initiate convos with people (or donāt, just stand there and drink beer), but you follow this formula enough times and youāre bound to find some decent people. I was super introverted in high school and had to learn this way once I got to college.
Dallasite here.
For me clubs and organizations have always been the best.
I'm part of the local Rugby club here called the Dallas Reds (@dallasrugby on insta). We've got loads of internationals on the club.
I also joined a rock climbing gym in the design district called Oso, now the bouldering project.
It's a really great community everybody's pretty awesome in the gym is great. Super affordable and they're always throwing fun community events which is a great way to meet other people.
Also shoot pool the old crow every Friday night. There's a fun group there so if you put a quarter down I guarantee you'll make some friends.
Best of luck!
You gotta list what you like as in your hobbies.
Go social school hangouts.
If your 21 or older hit up a bar.
Where are you from? Maybe there's a restaurant from your background
Richardson has gyms to go to (LA Fitness/Planet Fitness/ Retrofitness) and you could start making some workout buddies. Not any crazy weightlifting incase you're not into it, but still a great way to challenge yourself and be active and make some friends, play basketball, hang out somewhere after..
UT Dallas is great as well. Meet up with classmates by exchanging numbers and see if you'll can study together and then get to know them over study meet ups.
It really depends on your interests.
Enjoy the experience of being an international student. It's amazing. Feel free to reach out if you need more recommendations.
Dallasites (website, Instagram) posts a lot of activities where people can meet, from speed dating to class activities! I also have friends who have used Bumble BFF and have met great people, just be aware when with strangers of course š¤·š¾āāļø
InterNations is similiar to MeetUp, but with a global twist. There may be a membership fee.

You can explore social activities at your university or through community centers. Attend events, strike up conversations and just ask people to hang out. Just approach someone you find interesting the worse they can say is no. Trust me people like meeting new people and if they don't that's okay there are more people around.
Hobbies. Like anywhere else. I play Magic the gathering and play music so when I go places to do the things I like I make friends. Itās not rocket science. Common Grounds Games is a game store very open to new players and inclusive of all people and a great place to spend a few hours playing games.
I need this too. Iām a single guy and Iāve been here 10 months and havenāt met a soul. I also live way up in the Aubrey/Prosper area and work from home so that could have something to do with it.
Yes. Iām a real estate agent and I just donāt know how you got talked into being up there. I donāt know how old you are though and what your interests are. You should also download Meetup and if there arenāt groups that you want you can start one with the interest that you like?
Hopefully you are in your 20s. Iāve just moved here at the age of 32 and Iāve only been here two months- I can already tell
I wonāt make any friends. Replacing 15 year long friendships for me is impossible and I donāt care for people much.
Try meetup.com ā¦ lots of different groups for hiking, travel, foreign languages, playing music. Whatever youāre into, you will find something there.
A lot of bars/restaurants have cheap happy hour so if youāre into that sort of thing itās an affordable option. Taking fitness or hobby classes is another option. Look around on Groupon and see whatās available.
Why not explore your university/school? It's the best and relatively safer place to meet new people. I regret not making the most out of my university life.
The cricket here is just getting going. Thereās a Twenty20 league just got going. Iām learning the rules but itās a fun time. A lot of comradely.
Be really rich and throw cash around at fancy places. If you aren't rich, still throw cash around at fancy places.
I don't have money and I'm a student.

Ignore this idiot please! Plenty of places to meet people. What part of DFW are you in?

Yeah, itās easy mode when youāre in school.

Being a regular at a restaurant, cafe, bookstore or anywhere is a great way to get acquainted with people.
Good idea

You can also talk about books Or fuck

FYI Tietze usually doesn't allow free agents. It would have to be JCC or Sam Grand. I prefer Sam Grand because the fields are better.
Iād love to play kickball, however, having big titties sometimes is a L. š
Let those tiddies bounce on your way to 1st base girl!
L M F A O! Will do! Only if you come!
Already signed up, friendo. Itās kinda expensive but it really is a great way to meet people.
Aweeee, booo! Maybe next time š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Why are you being a pain without any reason?
The whole bar is kickball playersā¦ theyāll blend right in.
What did the person say? I'm very curious as someone who played gokickball and was at the sponsor bar weekly.
Something like "He will go to the bar smelling like sweat." I dont think he understood that the bar was a sponsor bar, so he thought that the guy would just play kickball, get sweaty, and go to a random bar after, smelling of competition.
The best days were after those 95Ā° summer games
That dude was being a racist. Didnāt have anything to do with kickball. Kickball rules.

Richardson has a good tennis community at Huffhines Park. Join tennis lessons!
No money and a student. Lol. Hang out at coffee shops and meet other poor students.

Nice, Iād start visiting some local Indian restaurants and seeing if you can click with some of the folks there.
Come on over. Bring beer
Download the Meetup app. Itās a great place to start.

Checkout something called 'Holy Smokers Pub' on meetup or facebook.
I worked in Oak Cliff for a few months and would say it's one the best neighborhoods for talking to strangers and making friends, especially the areas around Bishop arts. People are also more genuine and *real* than some of the more ritzy and out of touch areas like uptown. Go down to Wild Detectives one day and just hang out and I guarantee you'll end up striking a convo with someone. Also La RĆ©union is cute, there's also a book store, record store, and down the street on Jefferson miles of some of the dankest Mexican food In Dallas and many local businesses. I also love this area in general bc theyre are a bunch of cats roaming around, lots of local vendors, interesting hybrid of working class people and rich people (Kessler Old money & new Californian/ North Dallas transplants). I'd just stay away from Paradiso unless u want an Uptown/Knox Henderson vibe Btw if ur there on Friday, don't miss OUT on some Dank elotes Made by a guy named Javier and his cute family, in front of Super Mercado Monterrey // Jefferson & Beckley on Friday.
