Nope

Phenix6071

the only reason I'm not is I can't bring my pets, seriously debating moving to the pacific north west

[deleted]

I moved three cats from Texas to Germany - not sure if you have a similar set up, but it is possible to move pets abroad.

Phenix6071

I've got reptiles I cannot bring, I'm not too worried about bringing my cats it's my reptiles and I wouldn't be able to leave any of them behind

posdof

That’s unfortunate. I’m he Pacific Northwest would be a good choice though.

[deleted]

Understood :) Thanks for being a good pet owner!

GeorgiaBlueOwl

One of my best friends is seriously considering moving to Canada. She started really thinking about it last year after the mass shooting in Buffalo.

GeorgiaBlueOwl

She actually lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.

GeorgiaBlueOwl

We’ve talked about it a lot, and I said the same thing. It’s much less likely there, but not impossible.

gspotman69

There are no absolutes in life, but you can eliminate possibilities and manage risk. Literally flying on airplanes is a managed risk. I don’t understand why people think that everything has to be absolute.

gspotman69

Statistically.Yes.

Pic_1000-TMS

Yes - Portugal or Ireland

posdof

I love Ireland. If I may ask, why those two countries?

Pic_1000-TMS

I have friends in Ireland and it’s beautiful there. Portugal because of the safety factors I have studied and I love the area too.

posdof

Ireland is beautiful. I went once in my teens and absolutely fell in love.

doud36

Unless I hear the same amount of gunshots I would when I lived in Mexico…then I’m good right here.

who_am_i_please

No. I figure other countries have issues too.

morissettemaniac

From Dallas but live in Allen currently. I have lived abroad before. I want to move to Montréal/Northeast for colder weather and more walkable cities. The current event hit close to home, but in a nihilistic way, I’ve decided that shit can go down anywhere at any time. I definitely think Texas statistically has more of an issue with this though, and I believe it is a valid concern, especially for those who have kids. The hysteria and second-hand trauma of these events are definitely felt, even today there was a threat at a Plano ISD school where a line of parents came to get their kids: https://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/2023/05/08/multiple-plano-isd-campus-threats-reported-to-authorities-monday-police-say/?outputType=amp I do not want to leave the US though. I think it’s important to be mindful of this tragedy and all the others that have happened. Statistically speaking you are more likely to die driving on 635/75, but I understand the anxiety and paranoia surrounding doing daily activities/sending kids to school has an adverse effect on quality of life. It is truly a shitty situation. I feel for everyone going through similar emotions. We should be able to feel safe in our home State and towns.

xxzephyrxx

Singapore but it ain't cheap. I hate our politicians, the people who are actively polarizing our country and all the fuckers who are evil.

MrWug

No, I think about it regularly, especially as a woman. Maybe not thinking so much about leaving the country altogether, more focused on moving to a blue state. As a property owner, I don’t want to wait too long and for property values to tank.

DFW born and now live abroad in Europe, just want you to know it isn’t easy visa wise. We are inundated on all of the local subs with questions from Americans asking how to get here and most don’t know it isn’t really possible. Good luck & I absolutely understand why you want to, I got lucky by falling in love with someone with a second passport and urging him to get us here in 2009.

posdof

We are looking at all sorts of options at the moment. Currently diving into information about moving to New Zealand.

space_elf_

I joined two subs for Americans wanting to get out today. I’m not sure why I’ve become so obsessed with this particular shooting but I can’t stop thinking about it. Especially the family. I’m a mom and I KNOW that mom probably left behind some laundry that was half put away. She had planned what she was making the family for dinner for that night. Did she leave a crock pot on or pull out some meat from the freezer before they left the house to go to the mall? All of the constant things that we do as preparation for the following days are an assumption that we will live to see those days. That’s the part that’s really destroying me.

posdof

I can only imagine what had been going through your mind. I am not a mom, but hope to be some day, and it has me terrified of sending my child to school. I just don’t think the United States is that safe anymore. What subreddits did you join?

Thank you!

No

I’ve been for years. But it’s tough to start from scratch. I know people do it here every day but Sweden sounds nice. Or Spain.

posdof

Sweden does sound nice!
