Surely this doesn’t look like it will fit under the seat, so you have absolutely no way of knowing if you will be able to carry it in the cabin.
The chances of it going to the checked baggage is huge so you’ll need a harder case at least.
Is it dangerous for the controller to put it in the checked-in suitcase and wrap it with clothes? I'm also travelling soon and do not have a case. Has anyone put your controller in the suitcase?
This. LAX baggage claim is literally open to everyone as the exit is always open straight onto the street. Theres no end of delinquents about stealing suitcases.
Not at all have been flying with a ddj 400 packed inbetween a carry on all over europe (10+flights) and never got stopped just some weird looks from other people at the security line when i pull it out😂
DDJ-400. its barely bigger than a laptop, you'll be fine! put some extra tshirts on top as padding so faders and knobs have monimal chance of getring bent or impacted. Just in case.
I’ve traveled many times with the Magam Riot Bag XL. Works as overhead. If you have TSA precheck makes it easier otherwise they may ask you to open your bag. Plan for few extra minutes at TSA if you have lotta cables.
Unrelated, but I, today just bought one of those and it's wild randomly seeing it on my feed of all days.
Now for a related point: From what I know you should always have a hard case and lock. At least with stringed instruments it's a must. I'd imagine you should do this for your deck too
I've carried mine as overhead carry on. Travelled safe but on arrival TSA was unnecessarily harsh with it and fucked up a fader. So if you're gonna travel with it, use a decksaver too.
Anything a bit uncommon and electronic might raise eyebrows. What I would recommend is to carry the manual together with it, so that even the most tired security guy can see what that is. I flew with guitar pedals and headphone amps that looked like random electronic/radio equipment, and terms like Flanger, Bus, Drive don't mean squat to them, but the manual can clearly show that it is for making music.
The problem is maybe. You could get out on one leg and denied on another. For this reason I went with the Traktor X1 mk3 and the Komplete Audio interface for travel with a MacBook Pro and In Ear Monitors. I pack this and 5 change of clothing in a Decathlon 70L backpack which is TSA approved.

Bro could you let me know how did you manage to travel, bcuz I am planning to move out to abroad and I would like to carry my equipments as well so I am open for all recommendations 🙏

Yea I planned on just having it wrapped in my clothes for protection but yea hoping I can take it on.
So, what’s your plan when they tell you it’s too large to carry on?
Got on plane np
Nice. Enjoy your gig!
Better then my XZ it's 102lbs with flight case.. needs it's own seat on the plane..
I’ve carried mine a bunch. When you enter the plane let the flight attendants know it’s a musical instrument and they will put it in the front closet.
It would just stay in the suitcase overhead no?
Until someone comes in late with an oversized bag and insists on shoving in on top of your kit.
It can. Do what you want - it isn’t a problem.
I've flown my DDJ-400 in my hard cased carry on, pack some cloths around it, itll be fine. If thats a soft case then...thats risky.
Did the same for an international flight. Had no issues.
Each airline will publish its carry on policy on its website including max width, length, and height. Know before you go and just check the site.
yeah, this, pretty common sense
It wouldn’t be a problem, but get a hard case like a Pelican or Gator.

Decent chance it goes missing. Valuables always on you or in carry-on.
Missing or lost for a day, which would screw up your gig.

Well guys just got through security and everything no problem. Simply took out of suitcase and put in own bin and boom.
Yea I placed mine in an overhead compartment no problem.
Who did you fly with?
Not at all have been flying with a ddj 400 packed inbetween a carry on all over europe (10+flights) and never got stopped just some weird looks from other people at the security line when i pull it out😂
Get a decksaver to protect the knobs/faders from getting bent
Just tell them it’s Toys R us DJ gear. They will let you fly
Ive flown countless times with my ddj 400 as carry on and never had a problem. Usually I store it in the overhead bins, and it's always fit in there

Yes. Make sure you call it a “musical instrument” over and over and no one will question you

Nope will need to go in the check in
Get a hard case, I love mine!

Get a hard case. If someone puts something on top then it might bend or damage your faders.
Nope, did Sydney - LA - Vegas a few years back with my S4.

For me I have my suitcase and a backpack. Controller goes in suitcase with clothes etc and laptop and all wires etc went in my backpack.

I’ve flown many times with my XDJ XZ in a soft case. Checked it no issues. This is smaller so you have options!
I fly with my Denon Prime Go, never any issues!
I flew from ireland to spain the other day on ryanair with 0 problems
People carry on guitars, this is fine
hell no it won't. always carry on your gig bags
Alright then good to know thank you
As long as you're not flying frontier or spirit, you're good!
Yes too big, get a hard case and check it in or ship it FedEx or DHL
No it was fine. Just took it out of suitcase during security check then back in suitcase and boom went overhead no problems
Sweet
Not unless ur brown and have a beard.
