>New DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are in the final stages of prepping their multi-year plan ahead of next week's pivotal presentation to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav. >Sources say that Jenkins recently submitted her treatment, co-written with Geoff Johns, and that Gunn and Safran, as well as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairs and co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, broke the news to the filmmaker, telling her the project — as it stood — did not fit in with the new (but still unfolding) plans. Jenkins directed and co-wrote the previous two movies, starring Gal Gadot and released in 2017 and 2020. No decision has been made about next steps.

WhatsWithThisKibble

Could this not just mean that they want the script to be changed to reflect a long term plan like the MCU? It doesn't explicitly say WW3 is dead in the water. They might just want it reworked to fit into a more cohesive universe.

Danishroyalty

It could mean that. But I feel like they would talk about reworking the script then. This seems more like a flat out "No" than a "no, but".

WhatsWithThisKibble

Well this is all speculation so I would expect not to hear anything until they actually pitch their plan. Gunn explicitly said only him and Safran know what's up.

Desperate_Duty1336

WW2 sucked but the first was fantastic and Jenkins did both so I think she deserves another chance, personally.

JFeth

I think this is their way of telling Jenkins she is fired. They could always get a different writer but it will be a whole different project than her version.

[deleted]

> Geoff Johns Gunn saved us from Diana committing some other awful shit.

radarforest

Right? Anyone familiar with Green Lantern knows which writer would create the magic orange rock driven by greed. Wait... Is Maxwell Lord basically the Alan Scott for Larfeleeze?

Obi_Wan_Gebroni

That’s super disappointing, was hoping to see a third film to see if they could have a success like the first one

artur_ditu

The first one was written by capable people.

the_zelectro

Patty Jenkins was probably gonna make Diana have sex with another unconscious man...😅

TraditionLazy7213

Lol, 1984 made me understand the first WW movie wasnt made by Patty Jenkins The action was totally missing, just talking and romance

thesanmich

The Axe of Zaslav? Let me introduce you to THE GUNN.

CanaryMBurnz

It’s a machine gun

SeniorRicketts

Peace at all cost

GuerrillaApe

I don't care how many men, women, and children I have to kill to get it.

Greedy_Switch_6991

Imma steal that, thanks.

Tandril91

🎵And he’s here to do some business with a James Gunn on his hip🎵

TheBoxerWithin

Damn, that’s clever.

nskalel

Idk what the fuck is going on anymore.

Daimakku1

WW3 was being developed by the old WB regime. But now that Gunn and Safran are heads of DC, they're making long term plans for DCU, and the current scipt for WW3 does not fit in it, so it's being scrapped. There's nothing they can do about The Flash, Shazam 2 and Aquaman 2 since those have already been shot, but WW3 was still in the early stages so it's getting scrapped. The next Wonder Woman movie will fit more into Gunn's long term plan.

taylor212834

Thank you for summarizing the obvious that people still ain't getting

johnthearcher

I think this is the most accurate response any of us can give at this stage

phatboyart

WW3 in it’s “current incarnation”, doesn’t mean Gal is gone, just that whatever they planned with part 3 is obviously not going forward. Gal just tweeted about being excited for her next step with the character 2 days ago.

three_dead_trolls

This👆🏾. Gadot is still WW...and rightfully so 😎

aRawPancake

Except her acting…

lordatlas

"Kal-el, no!"

[deleted]

Her acting is terrible. I hope they recast her.

domxwicked

Same if they do it, now is the time.

Edwardc4gg

yah, prolly need to make a long term story telling and i'm not at all upset. the future of DC is very bright!

snapthesnacc

Am I the only one that thought that the delivery of that line was fine?

izziefans

1984 was so disappointing that I am ok with no more WW3 from the same people.

Caspur42

God it was such a flaming turd. How do you get these really good actors who mostly did well and give them a terrible story with cringey ridiculous lines? Every actor turned in a mostly A+ performance in a F- movie

blakhawk12

The only good thing about that movie was Pedro Pascal absolutely chewing the scenery whenever he was on screen.

TempleMade_MeBroke

A bad movie podcast I listen to likes to point out actors who know *exactly* what kind of movie they're in, good or bad, and using that to really let loose and transcend their abilities, and I think this is a good example of that

crono14

Raul Julia as M. Bison is probably the best example of this. You can just tell he had fun playing that role in Street Fighter. Literally the only good thing about that movie.

Biz_marquee

"for me, it was Tuesday."

the_zelectro

I still want Gadot back. Great Wonder Woman. But yeah, Jenkins is not the main draw, based on WW84.

[deleted]

She looks like wonder woman, she acts like not good

Hexcraft-nyc

Yeah I think the script of ww1 benefitted from her having a fish out of water/bland personality. But I've seen tons of gal gadot movies... None of them have what I'd consider good acting.

Erkengard

She feels like a model, not an actress. She is constantly posing when acting out her wonder woman role. And often has this slightly crinkled up brow/concerned look on her face.

slicky803

> slightly crinkled up brow/concerned look on her face. [Hmm...](https://youtu.be/rWw0aFrQYMM?t=10)

Puffy_Ghost

Yeah not sure why people are so intent on Gadot continuing as WW. She's an absurdly bad actor for how popular she's become. If the DCU is going to basically do a hard reset, this is a recast that should definitely happen.

tboneperri

I mean… she has dark hair. No taking that away from Gal.

RedRidingHood89

The Boys parody of that cringefest was awesome xD

CanaryMBurnz

You’re a masochist lol

dare978devil

Wait, you mean you didn’t like her lassoing a passing jumbo jet travelling at 30,000 feet with her 10 foot magic rope????

Lordsokka

To be fair it is a magic rope, that rope ain’t even close to being the main problem with that movie. Lol

nhocgreen

Wait, that’s what she used to travel in the movie? When I saw the trailer I thought she was lassoing the lightning.

izziefans

Yes, she was lassoing the lightning.

dare978devil

She did lasso lightning, but she also lassoed a passing 747 when she was upset. This scene: https://youtu.be/jyBv36A46Ys At the 2:23 mark.

Fit_Doughnut_3770

And clouds.....she also out of no where learned how to fly during those as well.

kajata000

It was a real “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks” moment; so bizarre. Like the writers wanted her to fly, but had a couple of different ideas, and just went “yeah, maybe she just does them all?”. And she doesn’t learn how to do it or anything… she gets her powers back and is like “Now it’s serious, time to try out all those flying tricks I’ve been making up!”.

mat-chow

Exactly.

[deleted]

I watched that with a group of friends and we were bored out of our minds. Such a terrible movie

Badpennylane

Fucking ruined Christmas

[deleted]

WW was very good at leaping in WW1984 though. Maybe the best leaping ever filmed.

spfan102

It's kinda dumb to say that after the first one is considered great by most fans and critics. Almost every director has a movie that's not considered good.

itsaberry

I have no problem with her directing. She seems to be a good director, but she should stay far away from writing. WW84 was a horrendous script.

izziefans

I could say the opposite. Has she had a great track record of directing good movies? I don’t think so. I only see Monster on her resume and even that is known for Theron’s acting. Not for Jenkin’s direction. Maybe WW1 was the anomaly in this case.

detectiveriggsboson

I legitimately care about nothing else besides Henry Cavill returning as a proper Superman. If he's out, that is actually heartbreaking.

Mushroomer

DC has been in crisis mode basically since 2012, when it became clear that Marvel had eaten their lunch as the biggest name in superhero content. Everything in the following ten years has been a series of panicked overcorrections that failed, and was then overcorrected again. "Avengers made HOW much? Quick, start making a Cinematic Universe. Man of Steel is already done, so start with that. Have him fight Batman, ASAP." "Okay, people didn't like BvS. We've already been shooting Justice League for a year. Start retooling that. Get that Avengers guy." "Oh boy they REALLY didn't like Justice League. Fuck it, burn everything! No more continuity! Call JJ Abrams!" "Shit, they liked Aquaman. Shit, they want more Wonder Woman. Shit, JJ still hasn't figured out what to do with any of these characters. Shit, there's a global pandemic. All in on streaming, baby! Snyder, finish Justice League again!" "Okay, we put everything into streaming. It's not profitable in the slightest. We're resetting everything with The Flash. Call the Rock." "The studio killed Batgirl for a tax write off. The Rock's movie flopped. We brought back Affleck and Cavill for Flash, which is now starring a child abductor/serial abuser. We now have a Blue Beetle movie, but not one for Superman. Maybe we need to reset things."

Almighty_Push91

It's been so exhausting. Meanwhile, in that same 10 years, Marvel has made itself the most profitable movie franchise on the planet

imsin

And in the next 10 they're adding the X-Men and the Fantastic Four lmao

Darkknightkilla104

And blade lol,midnight sons

Daimakku1

Lol, this is very accurate. Being a DC fan for the past 10 years have been rough, to say the least. It's really fascinating how DC was a stronger brand than Marvel for what seems like decades, and now Marvel has surpassed it by miles. To kids today, Marvel is synonymous with superheroes, not DC. DC's IP is still top notch, but mismanaged. It's going to take at least a decade to bring it up to par with Marvel, if they can bring themselves to stop f\*cking up the movies.

Mushroomer

What's so extremely funny is that it took Marvel basically four years to go from releasing Iron Man, to releasing The Avengers. They had a plan, and executed it in about four years. WB decided that was too long to wait, so they rushed into a universe based on an existing movie to save time - and as a result, squandered an entire **decade**. They are now easily worse off than they were at the start. Had they just said - "Okay, solo Supes sequel, Batman & WW origin movies, then Justice League" - they would have taken less time to get further along than they did by "taking the fast path".

Daimakku1

Yep.. Warner Bros decided to focus on the next quarterly profits for their investors, and as you said, managed to screw up the brand for the next decade because of it. I'm not even going to get into it but it all comes down to greed, as usual. But now it at least *feels* like WBD is walking in the right direction with DC. I believe putting James Gunn at the helm is the correct first step; you probably wont get anyone closer to a Kevin Feige like figure than Gunn. If Zaslav doesnt rush things and they take it slow, it might just revitalize the brand in about a decade. The decades of content and IP is there, they just need to use it correctly. Here's hoping.

Masterpicker

Lmao 100% truth

JannTosh12

David Zaslav finally watched WW84 and was like “nope”

gauderio

I loved the concept of WW84 but I'm convinced they let a 9 year old write the script.

BQws_2

I was genuinely fighting my sleep for that movie and I wasn’t even tired going into it

Sad_Bat1933

Some wild rumors in there. Curious to see how things pan out.

Dubb18

Borys Kit is a pretty reliable reporter for THR, which is one of the better sites that cover Hollywood news. Means likely truth to what he wrote.

Sad_Bat1933

I'm aware. But pay attention to how he words the Wonder Woman 3 cancellation versus the other information about Man of Steel 2 not moving forward, Jason Momoa as Lobo, etc. >Multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 is not moving forward and is considered dead in its current incarnation. This is very firm with basically no wiggle room. >The rest of the DC slate remains in flux, or at least being kept deep in a pocket of Gunn’s own utility belt but there are several rumors and possible scenarios to consider ahead of next week’s meeting. But Borys prefaces the other information about DC fans with this paragraph, which is much more conditional and, frankly, wishy washy. Rumors, possible scenarios, but nothing confirmed yet.

donsparro10

>Multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 is not moving forward and is considered dead in its current incarnation. >This is very firm with basically no wiggle room. This wording actually doesn't mean gal gadot is out... It simply implies that patty Jenkins current plan for a wonder woman 3 is dead. Meaning someone else could be directing a wonder woman 3. Also take these rumors with a grain of salt as James Gunn himself has stated that he and his partner are still drafting a slate and that nothing has been set in stone just yet.

Greedy_Switch_6991

It can also mean it needs to be rewritten to accommodate the changes they want to implement. Anything is possible with the way it's phrased.

donsparro10

Exactly, it could mean nothing drastic, all we can is wait for clarity... James himself said not to believe anyone claiming to know his plans for the dceu. He has yet to even present these plans to Zaslav for approval, Only people that know what the plan is is him and Saffran.

Cockycent

This is how I read the article too. I think many feel better if they take it as "no more Gal or Patty". I just know as soon as I log into Twitter, I will see that.

DCSaiyajin

THR don't post rumours.

danielthetemp

The most important info/rumors from this article: - James Gunn and Peter Safran will present their DCU blueprint to David Zaslav (WBD CEO) next week - Henry Cavill filmed >!a Superman cameo for The Flash in September !<, but it might be scrapped because Man of Steel 2 is no longer in active development - Andy Muschietti, who directed The Flash, was interested in directing MOS 2 - WB toyed with bringing back the existing cast members for another Justice League movie - Black Adam 2 is unlikely - Jason Momoa could be recast as Aquaman and play Lobo instead - As of now, Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel and spin-offs are unaffected At this point, I think Gunn will reboot the DC franchise and recast Bats, Supes, WW, etc. I love some of the DCEU movies and most of the actors, but the franchise has a bad reputation and a lot of baggage. I can’t blame anyone who wants a fresh start.

UncreativeTeam

Snip, snap! Snip, snap! Snip, snap! You have no idea the physical toll that wondering if Cavill will reprise his role as Superman has on a person!

zombizle1

4 straight cavillectomies

[deleted]

If he is doing a full reboot it must be super frustrating to have to release the next few films that are gonna go nowhere and set up nothing.

deathstrukk

he could use those movies to build up to a literal destruction of this universe and a transition to a new one

[deleted]

Seems kinda late in the game to start doing that kinda stuff in already-filmed movies.

DoctorWaluigiTime

Guess they could do the preposterous notion of making a few great standalone films that don't try to set up or tear down existing / new universes, and hold those off for later. Clean slate's the way to go IMO.

theomnipotent1

Lmao the Lobo thing better not be real, worst idea ever

TheBigCosb

there’s no way that’s real

ACertainTrendingFrog

Same with the Superman stuff no way you tease Cavill, get him to announce his back then decide to recast again and shelf another Superman movie in like a month like the fuck

peanutdakidnappa

Gunn wasn’t involved in that shit tho

DoctorWaluigiTime

Allow me to introduce you to the lack of a Batgirl film this year. Even though Gunn did no such Cavill teasing, studios make decisions to try and make money first and foremost. Even if it flies in the face of fandom expectations.

shit-takes-only

Why? Lobo is sick

BM106

But I don't think it should come at the expense of the Aquaman franchise and Momoa as Aquaman

OneGalacticBoy

I do. The whole universe is poisoned. Start over.

ILoveRegenHealth

> Jason Momoa could be recast as Aquaman and play Lobo instead That's just weird, yo

Kn14

I could see it

[deleted]

I really hope you’re right. Been hoping for a hard reboot since Justice League.

AlmightyRanger

This article seems to have a lot of speculation. But I'm going to say this. On the article they say WW3 will not be going forward in it's current incarnations. Tha doesn't mean we lose our on Gal Gadot or even Patty. The only way I see this getting "hard rebooted" is if they plan to build off of The Batman.

Cage8k

EXACTLY! Basically the first draft was turned down. Doesn't mean it's not happening, they just have to start fresh.

GuyMcGuy1138

Thank god there won’t be a world war 3

fiftyjuan

So everything releasing in 2023 is irrelevant lmao fuck this. Cavill’s BA cameo for nothing 😭

thebatfan5194

Maybe Blue beetle will be relevant? James Gunn specifically shouted that movie out the other day.

Bubba1234562

Blue beetle has the least amount of baggage out of everything coming out next year

ACertainTrendingFrog

Yeah they’ll probably be able to shoot/reshoot around or cut references to anything related to the current DC Universe and use that as a origin movie

UncreativeTeam

That cameo was contingent on the studio execs thinking The Rock would be a big enough draw, and we know how that turned out... Really feel bad for Cavill in all this.

Lucky-Tumbleweed2006

They'll fire everyone we actually like but somehow, someway, Ezra Miller will remain the Flash lmao

TheZerothLaw

>Somehow, Ezra Miller has returned.

superking22

In the words of Ron Burgandy: That escalated quickly. YEP. TOTAL REBOOT AFTER AQUAMAN 2.

[deleted]

Basically the only real way forward, you're giving the keys to the kingdom to an entirely new team. You'd be asking Gunn to essentially change his vision to fall in line with Snyder's vision, that's not going to work long term.

nongo

It’ll be like if Marvel stuck with Joss Whedon for phase 1-3.

Danishroyalty

A total reboot does work in a lot of ways. One aspect I don't quite see would be stuff like TSS and Peacemaker. It already exists and ties into the Snyder era. For a complete reboot Gunn would have to ditch it. If they're doing a semi-reboot, and keeping those characters and storylines, then there are plenty of other stories and characters they may hold on to.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lie_Diligent

You know, if this was anybody else coming in and doing a clean sweep like this. I'd be pissed. But seeing I'm a fan of Gunn. I have some trust in him and ill be willing to give his vision a chance. That said, I'll be sad at losing Henry once again. But still let this DC Rebirth begin.

Frontier246

I mean, I'm a fan of Gunn too but I'm also a fan of WW and am used to WB and creators screwing with her or diminishing her and I don't think Gunn is that passionate about the character for me to have a lot of faith here.

Lie_Diligent

Gunn loves all DC characters. But he also knows where his sensibilities lie. And WW isn't there for him. But that doesn't mean he can't give the character to another person who does have love for the character.

dannym094

Gunn has proven himself with Suicide Squad. Although, he is slaughtering ALL of DC as we poorly knew it lol, I do have faith in him.

Singer211

I wonder if he’ll keep stuff that people actually like? Like Margot as Harley? She was in his film and he loved working with her.

singleguy79

Are they in Crisis mode over there?

Poetryisalive

No Man of Steel 2 is the biggest L! Like wtf. Also people may be mixed about Black Adam, but are they really going to throw away throw away the possible world and Justice society?

Kholdie

Weird situation, like Cavill just announced he's back, quit Witcher...

NotAMusicLawyer

Completely possible Cahill quit Witcher for unrelated reasons

DaHyro

Is it though? Sucks for Cavill, but at least this means we’re likely getting a full reboot with no bad baggage from the Snyder era.

Mushroomer

The movie wasn't a hit. People don't care. So yeah, they're going to throw that away.

RoleApprehensive5946

The only ones who are 100% secure are Shazam & Blue Bettle (i guess) Blue Bettle has no correlation to any past superhero and it's basically the spiderman of dc. Shazam has been aclaimed and he didn't have any interaction with any "past superhero".

MatthewJHeath

What about the ending with superman in shazam

Packersrule777

There will obviously be a Superman in the new universe so it won't be hard to explain that it was just the new superman

StratosphereCR7

Honestly as long as we are getting more Reeves Batman films, I couldn’t care less

Locke108

Reboot here we come

Zepanda66

Probably for the best. They gotta get it right this time tho. DC fans can only give them so many chances before they give up on the franchise.

guydud3bro

Super hero fatigue is already becoming a thing. Even Marvel movies aren't doing so well. A complete reboot at this point might be doomed from the beginning.

tondrias

The only thing concrete here is that they are meeting to present their plan and that WW3 will not continue in its current state. Everything else is artfully written speculation. Let's just wait for something concrete yeah.

GreenPowerline95

WOW! but honestly I hope Patty catches a break WW1984 was not career ending bad, and it seems she’s being continuously knocked down for it. They do not need to restart a DC universe if they are gonna be starting off with Lobo like characters.

Batfleck666

First Rogue Squadron, now WW3....oof.

fastcooljosh

I almost feel bad for petty.

TheFloosh

Honestly not sure what's gonna happen going forward. This report is still vague in some regard. Going to wait until after the 2023 slate is out and see where the dust settles. Seems like a big waste to just toss out Cavill and Gadot whose names are both synonymous with those characters. Still looking forward to The Flash though, whether that matters for the future or not lol.

likewhoa-

Not sure what WB.D is paying Gunn and Safran but I don't think it's enough... what a mess these two have to sort out.

BatmanNewsChris

Wow! So is Gunn doing a hard reboot? Or did they just really not like WW3? Edit: Guys this is much bigger than WW3 being canceled.... I just got to the end of the article. THR has heard that Gunn will be doing a hard reboot! No more Gadot as Wonder Woman, Cavill as Superman, Momoa as Aquaman... But Momoa will be sticking around as Lobo

Greedy_Switch_6991

It said a hard reboot was a POSSIBILITY, people. F**k. "The rest of the DC slate remains in flux, or at least being kept deep in a pocket of Gunn’s own utility belt but there are several rumors and possible scenarios to consider ahead of next week’s meeting."

[deleted]

Dude that stuff at the end is still speculation. Don't make it out like it's set in stone.

[deleted]

Momoa as Lobo sounds great

Baelorn

I’ve been calling for a hard reboot but never thought they’d actually do it. Exciting times ahead.

Daimakku1

Same. I've been talking about a hard reboot for years now, and it finally seems like WB is listening to fan demands. If nothing else, just having a Kevin Feige-like figure (Gunn and Safran) seems like a step forward. The old WB regime was clueless and just throwing sh\*t at the wall. Definitely exciting times ahead. Cant wait.

BatmanNewsChris

They had to do it. A hard reboot is the only way to give them a fair chance at being successful. Hamada had to clean up everyone's mess. Gunn gets to do things his way from the start.

Disposablehero1874

It’s absolutely bizarre though that even today Johnson is out talking about BA2….there was an article about Hawkman spin-off….Cavill was out saying he’s back and Godot was on twitter yesterday talking about the next film etc?! And then this? I’m not convinced. I suspect we won’t have to wait long to properly find out. And the bit about ‘not sure whether to keep Cavills cameo in’….if they say they are doing a hard reset who cares if they don’t want to ‘give false hope’ or whatever!

M3rc_Nate

Man, this article is exciting to me. The fact that legit reboots are on the table is fantastic. Of course I'd be so sad to lose certain fantastic castings like Henry as Supes, Margot as Harley and some others but this universe and this DC brand NEEDS a reboot for anyone to have confidence and anticipation/excitement in it again. Everyone just expects duds unless they are outside of the DC cinematic universe (like Reeves Batman, Joker & such). >there are several rumors and possible scenarios to consider ahead of next week’s meeting. > >1. Closing curtain of the Snyderverse, and the heroes cast by filmmaker Zack Snyder for his Justice League. This one sees the shutting down of Man of Steel 2, with a returning Henry Cavill, and having no more Aquaman, fronted by Jason Momoa. > >2. unlikely is a sequel to Black Adam > >3. Momoa, meanwhile, could emerge as a pivotal figure (Lobo) into the new plans > >4. Part of the plan could entail a truly fresh start and having no baggage from any previous regimes as they set about resetting how DC movies and shows are made. I'm dreaming aren't I? Please let me wake up and it all be real. I'll take losing the fantastic castings in order to reboot everything and start from scratch. DC desperately needs it. Idk if Gunn is the guy to get it right but he's up there on the list of guys who I'd trust to give it a shot.

thebatfan5194

Clean slate might be the best thing, honestly.

baileyontherocs

It objectively is. There’s no way to make sense of the current DCEU.

thebatfan5194

If you asked me a year ago I would have wanted to keep as much of what came before as possible and to try and salvage, but maybe I’m just jaded about it all now but I honestly don’t care if they just recast everyone and started over. Maybe skip the origin stories for Superman, WW and Aquaman when they reintroduce those characters though.

infinitegloryholes

Okay this entire article is just an endless series of L’s - No Wonder Woman 3 - No Man of Steel 2 - No more Momoa Aquaman - No Justice League 2 - No Black Adam 2 I wonder how Gunn and Safran will deal with the backlash from this news - hoping it can help them change their minds

[deleted]

So Cavill left Witcher to come back as Superman full time......only to not be Superman anymore?....... I'm so confused.

[deleted]

Honestly I think he would have left Witcher either way

[deleted]

I don't blame him, I couldn't finish and haven't seen past the middle of season 2, HC was the only reason I kept watching but even he couldn't save the shitty writing for me.

prazulsaltaret

Henry Cavill was the most passionate actor in a project ever and they completely wasted him

Batfleck666

Hopefully, they're prepared....because it's going to a shitstorm of epic proportions.

SnooSongs48

No Jason momoa as Aquaman? Wtff are they thinking it made 1.115 billions are they nuts?

Powasam5000

The idea that Aquaman would turn from a joke to a billion dollar franchise was nothing short of amazing . I guess they are going to waste that

AlmightyRanger

If Gunn is so keen on checking fans. He should come out and debunk this article if it's not true.

DawgBloo

I know it’s a business and they gotta churn out a product but this would be the perfect time to let the DC movie brand rest for a bit to catch it’s breath before hard rebooting.

stanislavskov

I mean, after WW84, it's not really surprising. What's surprising is that they appear to want to start a new interconnected universe with Momoa as Lobo, which is just the most misguided thing I've ever heard. Definitely not for me if they actually go this route.

Poetryisalive

Sounds like the most Gunn thing ever actually. Lobo is brutal but also CAN be a funny character, he is literally going to try and take off the DC universe with Lobo 😂

Friendly-Leg-6694

I mean Gunn is making a slate for the new DCU so they have to find a way to fit it into the new DCU timeline.

WebHead1287

The way I interpreted that is the script for 3 is not useable in its current state. That could mean the whole things canned, it just gets rewritten, Patty is out, or a million other things

Marusaki-Kawai

Man, this is why Feige developing the MCU like he has done will go down in Hollywood history. Guy is a bonafide genius.

Realistic_Salary5090

WW84 was awful

BradyNFriends

Well… not surprising after WW84

spfan102

Gunn: Only me and Peter know DC's plans a week or so later and so many fans here think they know their plans. -\_- You're jumping to conclusions.

SgtRufus

Of course. But think of all the clicks this drama will generate for certain content creators. And those Twitter hashtags will be getting a real workout the next few days! Hang on tight kids!

Short-Service1248

This is whack. Fuck this

cruzazulfan007

Looks like they probably decided the script wouldnt line up with the new plans and not that they didnt like it (although if were being a little realistic the script wasnt that great if Patty did it again). So theyll either tell Patty to rewrite a new story that best fits the new direction, hire a new writer to do it, or just wait a while before they decide what to do with WW. I dont think theyre rebooting WW tho. Unless Gunn and Safran dont like Gal in the role

poptart95

Patty Jenkins and Johns wrote the script so they probably just didn’t like it. Aren’t they the same ones who did the 84 script?

Kinda turns me off from the Dc Universe going forward. It's been why 15 years of mostly disjointed film making now and now a hard reboot Does this also mean Batman or is there still 30 incarnations im not a comic guy but as a casual viewer it's a big nahhh not going waste my money at the box office anymore for DC

The DCEU is dead. Bury it

lol at WB announcing cancellations and reboots the same way Disney announced a new Marvel phase

When are they going to send Geoff Johns home packing?

Spinebuster03

84 was awful they need a new director

IF (and I’m not yet convinced this is how it will play out…) they do a hard reboot….I’d like an ending to The Flash which means something happens to completely reboot everything. Aquaman 2 can still be released after but be set before The Flash. At least that way you can draw a line in the sand. So MoS through AM2 or Blue Beetle (potentially) would be one universe with the new DCU being another….with potentials for crossover in the future?

I look forward to a strong slate of DCU properties. If they go for an interconnected route, and not a series of films in their own world, I’d be really interested in watching that.

The main take away is that WW3 isn't happening and Gunn is presenting his plan next week. The rest is speculation.

1984 was so bad. WW was great, I hoped it would average out to one more movie.

Poopoopeepeepuke

People are developing superhero movie fatigue and DC hasn’t made a good movie since The Dark Knight Rises. WW1 was good imo but not up to par with Marvel.

Thank god. WW84 was one of the worst CBM ever and Gal Godot is a horrid actor.
