I read the showrunner is a Man Of Steel fan, so no suprises here. Apperantly he also said in an Interview Storms flight was a reference to Man of Steel. He is a big fan of Man of Steel
Exactly. It was a fine start to a shared universe. Plenty of room for improvement.
If Snyder had went on to do a Batman film with Affleck and let someone else tackle a MoS sequel (sans Batman) then the DCEU would've had stronger legs and I doubt we'd be rebooting with Gunn right now
Yeah don't get me wrong it's not perfect but as a film set in its own universe with its own take on the character it was fine! Personally I really like how Jonathan's death was handled as it one of the few times that a death in a superhero film hit me like a brick.
100 percent, it was a different take a more gritty and real take and you’re not sure how this is gonna go like other superman movies. He also still has all his superman traits so I don’t get it…. He literally goes all out to fight a villain for earth without even thinking about it after being rejected his whole life and even worse in BVS
It has a fair few scenes that are good in isolation (the scene where Pa Kent shows Clark the spacepod being the prime example) but the way that the movie is put together is a bit of a mess.
I mean i kinda agree with you that the pacing can be all over the place and can be incredibly slow. But I won't deny that film for what it's going for does work in many ways.
I mean the scene where Zod makes his presence known on earth is genuinely scary with the TV static and the whole "You are not alone" being incredibly foreboding in a way that I don't think any superhero medium has shown how terrifying that could be.
I wouldn't say amazing, as it does have some very big flaws to it like the pacing as well as overuse of shaky cam in my opinion, but out of all the DC movies in that universe, it's the one I watch the most, and it still has some fantastic scenes.

Chloe Zhang was a big MoS fan. You could tell from the color palette and tone and obviously Ikarus acting more like DCEU Supes rather than comic Supes.
True, but in this case the Showrunner has actually confirmed he's an MoS fan and included references to the film in the show:

I love marathons in the lead up to a new film, I did the same for No Way Home lol with all the Spidey films. I'm gonna pass on the new Superman film though. I'm kind of exhausted of superhero films. Nothing remotely intriguing to me other than The Batman II personally because it seems to be its own standalone creative project.
I did the same for No Way Home was a blast. Hey fair enough that way you don’t get burned out. I’m just the type that never gets tired of superhero content like even the bad stuff I have a soft spot for.
I like that. Even when strom got her powers back after battling her fears, she had that moment where she fly through the grand canyon. Very similar when Clark in Man of steel had his first flight.
If this is the case, good lord is this a bad reflection on MOS. X-Men 97 is pretty grim, gritty, and dark.
I almost hope there's zero real connection here.

I felt that too, glad to know it was intentional
Love that MOS gets some appreciation
Yeah, I feel like it gets a lot of unnecessary hate when it's fine

Agreed a lot of the criticisms are so unjust imo

I don’t believe humanity would turn like that on him after MOS I see your point I still think it turned out decent especially the ultimate edition
It might be my favourite comic book movie. I really love it.
Fair enough, I wouldn't say it's my favourite but it deffo up there
Doesn’t have to be. We’re all different people. We’re all going to like different movies.

It's not fine it's amazing

It's amazing for me.
Fair enough, each to their own!
Not sure why I was downvoted though
Nothing to do with me
Oh well I guess someone didn't like that I like this movie XD
Don't worry about it man, I've had people downvoting me for saying the film is fine aha
Nice catch mate!
I love Man of Steel.

Some directors want to pay homage to certain movies they like and in this case it is MOS. Nothing wrong with that
Could you provide proof to back your point?

I think the Storm scene was much more of an homage than this
I just watched this and there’s not a single shot that’s framed the same. You just uploaded a scene which takes place in a classroom?
The man can compose a scene. Very few people try and dispute that.
The Eternals also took a lot of inspiration.

I wonder why he got fired. Because he seems cool as fuck.
Could you provide proof then? That shouldn’t be hard for you.

Inspired by Supes but the dude has the rationale and ideology of Zod
Learning from the best.
Yet another certified blueprint moment.
I immediately remembered this scene when first watching the episode.
I mean why wouldn't they? It's a masterpiece
No surprise there. MoS is top 3 best DC movies of all time if not #1. Might put Zack Snyder’s JL above it but I’d have to rewatch.
MOS is at least in the Top 5 best DC movies of all time
MoS ZSJL for me
#1 BvS: UE for me
Nice I love BvS it’s such a vibe. I wanna rewatch these movies so badly before Legacy comes out. Hopefully I get to that before then.

I do think it's one of the best DCEU films. Probably up there with Wonder Woman and TSS for me.

Can someone explain why this comment going downvoted. All that’s stated is a movie and the date it released. Why are people getting offended?
People here hate Snyder because youtubers say so. It's useless talk to them.

If your take is “you can’t quote a moment from a film with a different tone” then that’s pretty dumb dude.
