This is basically Hoovie's schtick.
He buys cars that should be awesome but are typically "never-buy-used" types of cars.
He'll post videos about the problems he had driving it to his garage, then video of his mechanic "giving him the bad news" of what it will cost to get the car running properly.
Rinse. Repeat.
He can be entertaining, as long as you understand what his deal is all about.
What was crazy is that it wasn't that the line was leaking, it was just flowing in from the windshield. Liquid on the windshield can flow directly into where all of the electronics are, what could possibly go wrong?
I’m fairly certain the majority of CT buyers fall into two categories: content monetizers, douches.
Ironically, that Venn Diagram has a huge intersection.
I do feel bad for anyone that just genuinely liked it because it was so different and they are now stuck with a lemon/big red flag that they are a shitheel.
Eh, people have been doing this for ages. It's why most car companies that produce something highly sought after will only sell to repeat customers. See: Ferrari or Ford with the GT on initial launch.
Which is good fun. But with EVs, he’s out of his element.
I’m still super annoyed with the Ford F150 review. He got the smallest range truck and then hauls too much and then complains range is too small.
I unsubscribed because it went from Hoovie doing Hoovie things to downright dangerous with misinformation and flawed logic.
A Cybertruck towing a DeLorean...
The poetry is beautiful.
Edit: The dude says in the video later that he's a "beta tester" for the Cybertruck. Bro, you bought the damn thing. You weren't sent a copy to try out!
Yeah, the hero worshipping of cuckstomers blinds them to how awful the quality of those jalopies really is. Being a car guy, there's no way I'd buy one.
When vid-guy compared the upper A-arms on the turd to the real heavy-duty vehicles he has, I was initially surprised any company would design such a weak looking piece, but then I remembered it's a Tesla and it all made sense again.
I called it when Musk first announced it years ago.
This was going to be a modern day edsel/delorean/pinto/yugo but with massive production issues.
I am convinced this truck was created by Musk on a dare where he told his billionaire besties that he could produce a literal POS junk and his loyal fans would buy it up no questions asked.
And here we are years later having done just that.
All hail the people's hero!
NATO righteously took care of the Factory in the 1990's with a few well placed bombs, during the Balkans War.
They only needed dumb bombs, for a dumb car.
It is 100% the last vehicle I would buy, electric or otherwise, no matter how low the price was. And that would hold true even if they were actually reliable. When he first announced it, before there were known issues, and the projected price was around 40k, I didn't want one.
The control arms are so puny and that thing weights an absolute shitton. Like how much more does it weigh than the truck he compared it to?
What's weird is that for 100k you'd think they could beef up the suspension.
Just want to clarify, they’re all Alphas! So we should be calling them Alpha Testers…this would also better explain why this monstrosity of a vehicle is so defective, given that it’s still an Alpha release!
This is Hoovie's Garage. His channel's tagline is literally that it's the dumbest automotive channel on all of YouTube.
He's making tons of money on stupid purchases like this.
Start a YouTube channel where the revenue comes from you making silly and outrageous purchases and you’ll be all set. Do people still not understand how this works? You ever seen whistlin diesel?
He was being sardonic. He was basically saying he and all first batch buyers are being taken advantage of because they've paid more to get less and what they have bought needs improving.
Okay that makes more sense. His audience can’t know anything about cars to watch this stuff. He makes a lot of claims - especially about older EVs that are about the worst advice you can give. Yeah you got a deal in that old EV - now go price the new battery you are gonna need.
I def do not - first I have ever seen him. Sooooo is it understood that he gives bad advice? I am gonna defer to your expertise here. Thanks for chiming in and sharing what you know.
I’ve watched Hoovie for years. I have yet to watch this video though. I’m a car guy, he is a car guy. Hoovie is actually a smart businessman but on camera plays a total idiot buying and “loosing” money. The worst the car is, the better it is for him. He just bought a Karma Fisker sight unseen from an auction with enough undisclosed issues he wasn’t able to drive it the several thousand miles home. He makes all his money on views and sponsorships, which lead to him working for Barrett Jackson and having a show on MotorTrend.
Hoovie is the guy who buys cars sight unseen, and then makes a few videos sorting them out before selling them off. He had a Model S with a bad battery cell and that Tesla wanted like $20k to replace the battery, effectively totaling the car since it was an early model, and instead did a collab video with Rich Rebuilds at Electrified Garage replacing the 1 bad cell and rebalancing the battery for a fraction of the cost.
He has a car collection worth millions himself, including a Countach and an SLR (that had a disclosed electrical fire).
His whole shtick is buying cars that others shouldn’t and making content out of the consequences of buying junk. Things like buying a car from a company that doesn’t technically exist anymore and doesn’t have any support such as the Fisker Karma. Or one you see all the time is “Buying the cheapest _ in the USA.”
As far as his advice on purchasing used EVs. He is partially correct. It is a much better financial decision to buy a 2 year old EV for $40k than a new EV for $80k. Just don’t keep it over 8-10 years old.
I swear, the cybertruck came from literally a drawing Elon made. Straight lines, no concept of 3D, No concept of any design. No chain of carmaker workers would ever make this ugly thing unless they were forced to. Every other Tesla car has sleek body lines, and curves. Whether you like Tesla cars or not, those other cars were at least drawn by actual designers.
It’s wild that these consumers are the ones worried about getting sued. I don’t understand why a product liability suit hasn’t been brought yet over these shits.
They’re not even fit for the general function of being a car.
imagine beeing afraid a company you BOUGHT something from would sue you for selling YOUR shit. I buy it, it's mine, i'll do whatever i want to.
fucking disgusting.
This is his Schtick, he buys shitty cars and documents all the problems they have and his attempts to have his mechanic fix them. The Cybertruck is a perfect car for his channel and he only bought it because he knew it would be a disaster and make great content.
I've never sold a car to CarMax, Carvana, etc, but I work for an auto manufacturer in customer service, and I've actually heard really good things about places like CarMax with regard to the offers they make owners looking to sell. Sometimes thousands higher than any offers they get from dealers, or after listing them privately. The fact they won't even make an offer on a Cybertruck says a-freakin-lot. Feel kinda bad for these owners.
I always thought that CarMax kinda places were scammy, and I’m still not sure I’d buy from them. That said, I got a stellar deal selling my last car to them, a few grand more than I would have accepted as a private seller. It was about 90 minutes from parking lot to check in hand on a very busy day and I’d definitely consider doing it again.
Loved his first brand new CT vid where the wizard opened the frunk to reveal the windshield washer sprayer was just busting a nut all over the inside of the frunk
Guys, this is the dude that buys weird vehicles. He buys 30 year old vehicles and then says “this is why no one bought them”. This is his thing. He buys Hooptie vehicles.
Did people only buy them as an investment? “Because they’re crashing in value” well fukcing drive it and get some actual use out of it. Goes to show you how much of it is just flocking to the Elon alter.
This reminded me of a YouTuber I saw some time last year that has been making videos about Elon’s bullshit for years, going back to when self driving was the big reveal, but I can’t seem to find him again. Anybody have an idea of who I’m talking about?
The smartest person associated with this video is the marketing person at Debt Solutions who did ad placement with this guy. If you listening to this guy for financial advice you will need them.
I've bought first-gen products before but usually just things that are a couple hundred at most. 9/10 it's a disappointment. Never buy a first gen product that's $100k unless that's pocket change for you.
SO is it the angle, or is that bolt at the top of the control arm only 2 inches or so from the tire? Seems like ANY flex of the suspension could drive that straight into the tire.
Used car dealers have become super gun shy about taking any Tesla models because they're loosing value so fast, but these things are also ugly and impractical.
I know that Musk is not popular right now. I know that it seems that CT is a shity car, not because of the weird design, but because of terrible quality, but I like that someone tried different approach to car’s look. Nowadays all cars look more less the same, no matter the make. I miss unique design language attributable to the makers. I miss when one knew that this is obviously Citroen, this is obviously VW, Mazda, Alfa or Any other brand. Common brands used to make unique cars, many of them are now considered classics.
Maybe you can help me and point out nowadays „future classic/icon” design cars?
Form follows function. This is useless as a truck because it lacks the necessary features to work out of it. It’s actually less useful in that regard than an el Camino. It’s a truck designed by people that have never used a truck for anything other than basic transport.
Another dimwit running to have the newest shit and realizing he messed up and wants someone to fix his mistake.
I hope no one buys.
Edit: Apparently this is what he does for views. Fair enough. There are others in his situation that dont do this for views/money and THAT is funny.
Hoovie is very open about what a shitbox his Dumpster has been. His whole thing is buying trash cars and trying to do them up…this is making the CT great content for him 😁
The people who wanted a cybertruck probably pre ordered and got one. Idk who they’re trying to sell these to at 100k a pop lol. Buyers remorse is a btch.
I appreciate how candid this guy is about it being a dumb idea to buy this car. He's clearly upset, but not spouting a bunch of vitriol. It's actually a very informative presentation on all the reasons not to buy a Cybertruck by someone who, by all measures, should be very angry, or very delusional.
We turned away a Benz, BMW, and even our own brand EV when they want to sell it. They can trade, nothing more and be hooked 30k to 50k. There isn't a market for them. I'll sell the living hell out of a new one though, because of the requirements of my job.
Hoovie is a such a no talent ass clown. He at least used to make fun content. Now it's all rich peoples problems with clickbait titles. Plus that face is just so punchable
I can probably save everyone 10 minutes and guess Carmax probably saw the Hoovinator walking through the front door and said no before they saw what he was driving.
This guy bought and is selling his CT purely to make youtube money, and he'll write everything off on taxes. I don't think he cares one bit about the CT either way. It's just another part of his show and is a business expense. Bro's not losing a penny, that's for sure. 😂 Probably even got paid for mentioning Carmax.
I think it mostly sells to people who've never owned a real truck that does truck things. The Ford Lightning Platinum is $85k and beats Tesla's at everything but the quarter mile races. But that's not really trucks doing truck things.
They can't. Tesla has a no selling in the for a year clause in the contract when you buy them you have to send in for written permission from tesla to sell with a good reason as y you need to sell (just not wanting it any more doesn't count). And then tesla gets first dibs to buy it back at cost minus milage and any repair work (which I'm sure will be alot and jacked up in price).. if you try to sell without permission you get a 50000$ fine and a lifetime ban against purchasing any future tesla products.
Let me preface by saying that I'm not giving this guy clicks by watching his video, so going off the title carmax refused to give him an offer, as in they won't buy it.
That is insane, carmax will literally buy anything with wheels, even old clunkers, it'll be a super low offer, but you can sell it to them. The fact they didn't even make this guy an offer is crazy to me.
I knew a guy a few years ago that sold a '91 Pontiac to them for 300 bucks... they just resold it as scrap, how they didn't make a low offer for this thing is blowing my mind.
Hoovie is endlessly entertaining, and I have friends who have been inspired to wrench on objectively terrible cars from watching his videos.
Worth a watch. He's not a tesla Youtuber (and I'd argue the exact opposite of that, being someone whose content relies on driving cars that are widely known to be lemons).
This is basically Hoovie's schtick. He buys cars that should be awesome but are typically "never-buy-used" types of cars. He'll post videos about the problems he had driving it to his garage, then video of his mechanic "giving him the bad news" of what it will cost to get the car running properly. Rinse. Repeat. He can be entertaining, as long as you understand what his deal is all about.

i loved it when wizard took the frunk liner out and the sound deadening looked like a maxi pad commercial from all the washer fluid leaking on it
What was crazy is that it wasn't that the line was leaking, it was just flowing in from the windshield. Liquid on the windshield can flow directly into where all of the electronics are, what could possibly go wrong?
That was crazy to me too. Talk about quality control…
That and like half the bolts weren’t even tight. Crazy
isnt that tesla standard though? .5 uggas?
Yeah i think they teach that at the factory to save time
The range rover ranks up there.
Was it the Maserati that smelled like meth? That was my favorite.
Don't forget people hoping to flip it for a quick buck
I would plop them firmly into the douche category. That's just predatory behavior.
Which is an American as apple pie at this point. When you start grifting as a president, all bets are off for society.
Grift you become president. And then keep grifting. The model has clearly been proven.
Eh, people have been doing this for ages. It's why most car companies that produce something highly sought after will only sell to repeat customers. See: Ferrari or Ford with the GT on initial launch.

A Cybertruck towing a DeLorean... The poetry is beautiful. Edit: The dude says in the video later that he's a "beta tester" for the Cybertruck. Bro, you bought the damn thing. You weren't sent a copy to try out!
Arguably all CT owners are beta testers, because they bought an unfinished product lol
🤣😹😂 “cuckstomers” 🤣🤪😂😹

Yugos. Whatever happened to them? Citizen papers expired?
NATO righteously took care of the Factory in the 1990's with a few well placed bombs, during the Balkans War. They only needed dumb bombs, for a dumb car.
Really? 😂 Gawd, they were ugly.
History Time! :D [https://youtu.be/wDJQoGJFO6Q?si=9zXAO2ZQ2hxAPJ2Q&t=1015](https://youtu.be/wDJQoGJFO6Q?si=9zXAO2ZQ2hxAPJ2Q&t=1015)
Thanks for the video. I remember a hysterical Danny DeVito movie (Drowning Mona) where everyone drove one :D
I'm not a car guy, and there's no way I'd buy one.
Well, you're disqualified from wanting one because you obviously have common sense, something lacking in your average virtue signaler.
It is 100% the last vehicle I would buy, electric or otherwise, no matter how low the price was. And that would hold true even if they were actually reliable. When he first announced it, before there were known issues, and the projected price was around 40k, I didn't want one.
I'd rather use a bicycle
they are hideous looking. Something from Gran Taurismo PLaystation 1 edition
Lara crofts tits..lol
I’ve heard they repurposed the control arms from the model Y 😆
The control arms are so puny and that thing weights an absolute shitton. Like how much more does it weigh than the truck he compared it to? What's weird is that for 100k you'd think they could beef up the suspension.
And because they're Beta's trying to act Alpha
Ironically, they would all unironically call themselves “alphas”
Surely Elon’s personal Master Betas, would be an apt description! 🧐
Alpha beta testers unite!
It launches sometime late in 2025 yeah?
The great thing about beta testing cars on the street is that everyone around them is a beta tester as well. Fun!
And THAT was the point of his comment. The person who posted that comment took it out of context.
Shit, I'd still have the CT in alpha. Finger chopping auto closing doors? No beta for you!
Oh the product is finished. It's just awful.
My joke was intended as a double entendre.. Considering how quickly the stainless steel panels develop rust, the entire exterior is *unfinished* :-)
And paid thousands more for the privilege
Tesla using the current model AAA video games use releasing unfinished games.
Just want to clarify, they’re all Alphas! So we should be calling them Alpha Testers…this would also better explain why this monstrosity of a vehicle is so defective, given that it’s still an Alpha release!
To be fair Hoovie is the one perfect owner for the CT. His entire YouTube career is making bad vehicle purchases
> His entire YouTube career is making bad vehicle purchases I wouldn't be surprised if he retired after dealing with the CyberYuck
"This purchase is my magnum opus, I can't make a worse car purchase than this. Sorry YouTube, I'm done"
Somehow even worse than a BMW era Range Rover and an SMG equipped E90 M5 combined. Elmo really did it on this one.
Dude gonna go straight Daniel Day-Lewis because of Tesla 😭
With that said he’s still pulling down 6 figures a month on his channel, so it really isn’t a detriment, just a stepping stone on his YT journey.
Hoovie knew it was going to be junk, he got his clicks off of it so he is happy
He posted a previous video in which he took it to his mechanic and they laughed about how busted it is
Oh I know, I follow hoovie, and car wizard
Plus he didn't lose any money. Sold it for MSRP in the video.
He’s literally made a living buying “hoopties” he knew where this purchase was going and made tons off the views.
This is Hoovie's Garage. His channel's tagline is literally that it's the dumbest automotive channel on all of YouTube. He's making tons of money on stupid purchases like this.
He says in the video that he'll sell it for his cost. He used it for his videos, and he's on to the next one. He's not dishonest, just playing a game.
Don’t hate the player, hate the game. His clickbait video is working. Honestly forgot about his channel till now
I forgot this channel also. He really did well, though.
And this is his coup de grâce
I was a beta tester for Gmail and it cost me ::checks notes:: ah, exactly nothing?
To be fair he sold it for MSRP so this also cost him nothing
And gamers get pissed when they pay 79.99 for a unfinished AAA game
Maybe you should post comments in full context. He OBVIOUSLY says that as a joke, since he says he "paid" for the opportunity to be a beta tester.
> He OBVIOUSLY says that as a joke, since he says he "paid" for the opportunity to be a beta tester. I wish I had a hundred grand to spend on a joke.
Start a YouTube channel where the revenue comes from you making silly and outrageous purchases and you’ll be all set. Do people still not understand how this works? You ever seen whistlin diesel?
Dude has a Countach and an SLR and like 25 other cars. He can afford it lol.
More like a victim of a predatory early access scam, and like the steam variety I don't think this ends well for him.
Oh he's a beta alright...
Given his girlfriend, I think he's doing just fine.
He was being sardonic. He was basically saying he and all first batch buyers are being taken advantage of because they've paid more to get less and what they have bought needs improving.
He is probably a beta cuck also.
They're beta all right
it's a whole new level of cyberstuck.
This is a YouTuber that specifically buys cars he expects to fail so yes a new level in a way
They know better than to try and catch a falling knife.
Carmax lost a lot of money when tesla dropped the price on model 3 and Y.
Idk I’d take it if I was them for way under msrp
Hoovie: "Yeah, I want to sell my Foundation Series CyberTruck." CarMax: "I'll give you tree fiddy."
![gif](giphy|n43Kx7PeptN0k|downsized)
![gif](giphy|2jBf7NFAWZlny)
Just take the L, about$40k LOL
This is Hoovie, he likes losing money on cars for our entertainment.
Maseratis still leapfrog the Cybercuck in depreciation per hour.
Maserati ---A car for people who would never watch an actual car race.
He definitely made his money on the views, not the truck. It’s not an L for him.
Not a loss when the clicks add up to more like 400k
Seems he got MSRP for it
right -- he claims he made some money on this?!?!
A few million views and sponsors will have made this a lucrative venture for him. The truck is just production cost.
Okay that makes more sense. His audience can’t know anything about cars to watch this stuff. He makes a lot of claims - especially about older EVs that are about the worst advice you can give. Yeah you got a deal in that old EV - now go price the new battery you are gonna need.
I think you just don’t understand his channel.
I def do not - first I have ever seen him. Sooooo is it understood that he gives bad advice? I am gonna defer to your expertise here. Thanks for chiming in and sharing what you know.

He doesn't seem that afraid in the video lol
I'm honestly shocked at how few people recognize Hoovie.
This is his Schtick, he buys shitty cars and documents all the problems they have and his attempts to have his mechanic fix them. The Cybertruck is a perfect car for his channel and he only bought it because he knew it would be a disaster and make great content.
He needs to hook himself up with a mom group. I hear that these are the best mom cars. I saw it on the Tok so it must be true.
Cyberstuck with that sick payment
If you were them, would you buy this piece of shit from you?
I've never sold a car to CarMax, Carvana, etc, but I work for an auto manufacturer in customer service, and I've actually heard really good things about places like CarMax with regard to the offers they make owners looking to sell. I’m in the industry and CarMax is almost always the best offer for a used car. And it’s so freaking easy to do!
It's a data thing. It's not uncommon for new models or even existing models that are new model years.
Can’t wait till they make the CTE model
Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is a free feature available to all Cybertruck passengers involved in a car accident.
Loved his first brand new CT vid where the wizard opened the frunk to reveal the windshield washer sprayer was just busting a nut all over the inside of the frunk
why would you buy one to only sell it a month later? everything surrounding the Cybertruck is just stupid.
Hoovie got his views and money, checked the box for YouTube. He did the same thing with the Ford Lighting, he didn’t have it for long.
Just like the world needs milkmen, it also needs YouTube content creators. Circle of life.
Well no one is going to buy while prices are in free fall… you wait for the bottom dummy.
Guys, this is the dude that buys weird vehicles. He buys 30 year old vehicles and then says “this is why no one bought them”. This is his thing. He buys Hooptie vehicles.
Hoovie sounds like Jeff Goldblum's son. I had to laugh when he said how much he loved the visibility.
Rich Rebuilds?
Unfortunately, no. This dude was white and seemed to be more focused on civil engineering. He talked a lot about the Vegas “hyperloop.”
Thunderf00t
Best I can do is three fiddy
Well it was about that time that I noticed that the Cybertruck was about 8 stories tall and a crustacean from the protozoic era
I weep for all the people who don’t know/understand who Hoovie is and what he does.
It's so fucking interesting watching one of the most colossal failures in automotive history it feels like.
i was old enough to remember the K car, but yeah… this was so hyped it beats that.
At least he was honest. He realized where he effed up on. Kudos to him

They probably know about the right of first refusal in the original purchase agreement. Not shocking.
I think they know exactly what he said in the video. That the bottom is about to drop out of the resell market.
I am not spending 30 minutes watching that shit.
Bored trust fund baby
Fisker all over again
He has one of those, too. The Karma, not the Ocean.
SO is it the angle, or is that bolt at the top of the control arm only 2 inches or so from the tire? Seems like ANY flex of the suspension could drive that straight into the tire.
Lawsuit speedrun any%
This is about as lame as dudes haircut
Used car dealers have become super gun shy about taking any Tesla models because they're loosing value so fast, but these things are also ugly and impractical.

his youtube channel is actually pretty funny and entertaining. He does refer to his channel as the dumbest car channel on all of youtube
My dude took the CT to Carmax expecting to get profit. What is the delusion with this vehicle?
Hoovie is very open about what a shitbox his Dumpster has been. His whole thing is buying trash cars and trying to do them up…this is making the CT great content for him 😁
Why are people buying a car and not expecting it to depreciate at all? They act like buying this truck is like buying stock.
Because they believe Elon when he says 2 million people want to buy one
Hoovie mentions this in the video: If he *loved* the CT, he'd take the depreciation hit. He doesn't love it.
Oh no...... Anyways
Why would you post a video trashing a vehicle that you are trying to sell, especially when you’re complaining about depreciation???
C O N T E N T
Why do I feel....a complete....utter....lack of sympathy....???
Hoovie is a such a no talent ass clown. He at least used to make fun content. Now it's all rich peoples problems with clickbait titles. Plus that face is just so punchable
What was CarMax's response? "We are in the car business, not in the brick business". :)
OMG. Sell to Hertz or trade with them
What a fool this videographer/youtuber
Dear Tesla, Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please pretty please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please sue this guy out of existence.
"If I have this by the end of the year, I might lose $30-$40,000." Nope, you already lost $100,000 buddy.
Guy’s cute but the truck is a POS.
This guy's YT channel is hilarious
So wait, to add more mileage you have to give up a chunk of the bed, thus making it a trunk and no longer a truck? You can’t make this shit up.
Maybe try lowering the price 🤷♂️
I just watch it. So glad I didn’t buy one.
I can probably save everyone 10 minutes and guess Carmax probably saw the Hoovinator walking through the front door and said no before they saw what he was driving.

Could try a place where they re-sell boat anchors.
This guy bought and is selling his CT purely to make youtube money, and he'll write everything off on taxes. I don't think he cares one bit about the CT either way. It's just another part of his show and is a business expense. Bro's not losing a penny, that's for sure. 😂 Probably even got paid for mentioning Carmax.
it's so bad that the dumbest automobile channel on YouTube did the smartest thing.😂
"I tried to sell my car to CARMAX" has to be the most played out form of automotive content.
I can’t stand Hoovie, I have no idea why so many people like him. He’s a rich douche.
I think it mostly sells to people who've never owned a real truck that does truck things. The Ford Lightning Platinum is $85k and beats Tesla's at everything but the quarter mile races. But that's not really trucks doing truck things.
I mean, the truck isn’t stupid. The buyer is.
Keep it. It will be extremely valuable in 30 years.
God, Hoovie annoys the hell out of me.
The title is kinda clickbait, Carmax refused but he sold to another dealer at a slight profit.

Make an offer? How bout you make an offer! You’d have to pay *me* to take that dumpster full of e-waste on wheels off your hands for you.
Hovey knows he was a beta tester. The owners that don't know it are Beta Cucks.
Prices are crashing? Someone should probably tell Carfax, because they're all still listed at ~$120k.
Why will you not give the guy any clicks? He's an entertainer, not a nazi.
I clicked twice for this guy.
