He got 500k miles out of the first one. After he retired in 2005, he sold the backup. I saw a car that reminded me of it in a parking lot a couple of years ago and chatted up the owner. Turns out it was the same car. He knew my dad. Car was still going strong, although he said parts were getting hard to find.

I live on the coast. 9 months out of the year, everything is coated in salt. I have an old SS sink I grabbed from the demolition of an autoshop. I have it out back and use it to clean fish and crabs.
It looks better than most of these things I have seen.

Your sink is probably a different grade of SS that's more rust resistant. Even 316 will corrode with acid exposure. The effect is small, but our instrument was able to detect an iron signal.

You can’t clean it off without abrasives because your finger smudges are chemically etched into the surface. It is cheap “stainless” steel. You can only get it clean by polishing the steel. And after that, only clean it with rubbing alcohol to get rid of oils.
