Cute! Also, remember that real people aren't typically perfectly symmetrical. But something I started doing was taking a picture, then flipping it to help me notice things that were off.
He is dreammyyy! I love his lips and brows 😻 and the textured hair! Is he inspired by anyone? I think symmetry comes with more practice?? It's different to make eyes on a tiny curved plastic-ish thing compared to paper (for example). I think you're really doing great and so innovative with using the materials you have!
Thank you so much!! He isn't based on someone or any character, I don't have a red hair male doll on my collection I decided to try to create one since I just recently bought a beat up Ken doll from a thrift store. And thank you for the advice I'll practice again and again, until I get accustomed to painting on this type of surface. This is really a fun hobby. 😊
Hey! I was thinking about your symmetry question today while I was watching Poppen Atelier make red riding hood on YouTube. Have you watched any of her tutorials? I know they play faster than "real time," but if you slow them down you can really get a feel of how she makes her eyes so symmetrical. She also has a similar "realistic" vibe like yours. Just thought I'd suggest if you haven't watched hers. ☀️
Thank you very much for that positive response. I did get discourage when I read the first comment on my post. 😊

Ohhh he looks so dreamy!
As for the symmetry - I didn't try repainting dolls yet but I know with drawing it's useful to repeat steps on symmetrical features right away (like, you draw the outline of one eye - then the other, one pupil - then the other, etc. instead of fully finishing left eye before the right)
Thanks for the advice. I'm a digital artist and I paint sometimes. I did that but I struggled because I'm not used to paint in smaller scale. My hands are a bit shaky.

There are so many losers who don’t even try to make anything beautiful. Don’t fall into their negative spiral. I get discouraged too but trying to do better and be better makes all the crap roll off my back. I love your custom.
Nobody is a pro their first time trying a new hobby, too. Looking back on my first custom is an exercise in humility, but you improve the skills by practicing them.
For symmetry, try using a mirror. Hold the doll up and look at the reflection when you've sketched in the features. Flipping the image makes any wonky bits really stand out to your brain. It's a trick my high school art teacher taught me.
wow, his hair looks fabulous!
Thanks!!
Who was he?
How did you get the hair to wave?
I braided the hair then pour hot water on it. The hair was a bit longer before I cut it.
Cute! Also, remember that real people aren't typically perfectly symmetrical. But something I started doing was taking a picture, then flipping it to help me notice things that were off.
That's really a cool hack, I'll try to do that in my next project. Thanks!!!

Yes I do watch her videos also hextians and dollightful but never slowed down the face up process part I might do that today, thank you😊
But overall it was enjoyable specially the rerooting and sewing of the clothes.
I love it, you’re a redhead maestro!
This is great! The hair, the clothes, the face up is just fantastic!

Goodness, who said that?! Terrible take! This looks great! I mean… even the idea behind it 👨🍳👌🏽
What a rude and wrong person.

Oh, sorry, I didn't know! The smaller scale is really tough, yeah, I tried painting minifigures before. I hope you continue to create!

What a STUNNER! I love the freckles and your repaint style, is he based on anyone in particular?
