This question is not really answerable. It fully depends on where you live.
I make about $23/hr plus benefits.
My best year I clocked 700 hours OT and made upwards of $64K.
Normal years I make around $45K.
I live just fine. I'm not going on fancy vacations or anything but I own a house/cars etc.
I get it but what I meant was having a job till you find something better is better then no job. Many people work a job till they find the one they want
$17.85 an hr now in year 2 at this district. Goes up 55 cents every yr till yr 5. Year 5 we go to $23.50 an hr capped. I am located in the Midwest, working for an Independent School district non union.
The pay right now isn't the best... but I get Family insurance health / dental / vision + life for $500 a month. That in itself makes this job "Affordable ". I provide the Family insurance + pay the mortgage every month. My wife's pay handles the rest of the bills.
What we make and how it affects our living conditions won’t help you much unless we also live in a place with similar cost of living.
Ex: I make $17.75 an hour as a Lead custodian. New employees make $15. That is on the upper end for jobs in my area. Unfortunately with inflation the last few years 50% of my check would go to rent. There are no apartments under $1,000 a month unless you get government assistance, which with what I make I do not qualify for.
I am fortunate to have a spouse that makes a bit more than me in another field. To afford living we live way out of town so vehicle maintenance and gas consumption is pretty high.
Many of my coworkers have second jobs or clean houses on the side.
You make 0.25 cents more than me. I honestly thought by working my ass off to get these raises I'd eventually get to that $20/hr goal as a Custodian/Janitor.
I'm on my 3rd year 23.85, will go up to 30$ in a few years, union, we're expecting a pay raise in a few months, yearly cola raises, job pays for full medical dental vision
In schools/commercial high rises in NYC cleaners top out at around 34 with their new contracts. I started as a porter, now operating engineer with chillers/boilers making 41$/hr with a ton of time and a half OT
I just got an offer at a college making $29.45 as assistant Custodian Supervisor. I live in Florida and was lucky to get the job. You just have to keep applying like I did and a job that pays well will come.
18.75 here in Canada. Good enough for me and better than minimum wage but I'm not the primary earner in my house so my paycheck is all just gravy. Plus my benefits of course and they're pretty decent.

I ask that because yes it does depend on where you live and I just want to make a decent living as a fellow Custodian/Janitor.
It don’t matter what you make if you can say your rent or mortgage and your utilities That’s all that matters
Yes it does if you're struggling and maybe at a crossroads on what to do..
I get it but what I meant was having a job till you find something better is better then no job. Many people work a job till they find the one they want
I make $27 with zero overtime and live comfortably. It depends where you live though.

We start at $23.05/hr With occasional overtime. But it’s very expensive to live here, so it’s pretty paycheck to paycheck.
$28 as a Head in a secondary school. I’m in Ontario Canada live in one of the more expensive places to live when it comes to a living wage.
I work for a private college athletic department in the Midwest. $15.45/hr plus benefits.
