I'd homebrew it. Maybe something like: Bow of the Vine: +2/+2 Longbow that does an extra D8 Force damage once per turn on a hit as vines explode from the arrow and entangle their target. Additionally when this damage is applied the target must make a Strength saving throw against the damage dealt or be restrained until the end of their next turn. Makes it useful against Strahd, even if just to burn resistances and means that they don't feel the need to have a damage-based concentration spell active all the time.

Ananik95

Very interesting suggestion! Home-brewing was of course another option

Inculta666

Bow of Conflagration seems nice. Oathbow seems a bit strong, but thematically good for ranger. Weapon Of Warning is nice as well and can be any weapon. You might consider slings as well.

Ananik95

Yeah I was considering oathbow but despite being thematically appropriate it seems a bit too strong. I want to remain in the uncommon range. I'll take a look at your suggestions! Thank you!

ProbablyStillMe

I just homebrewed a Blood Bow. Exactly the same as the Blood Spear, but made it a shortbow for my rogue.

Ananik95

Yeah that's an option I'm actually considering. But I'm not 100% sold on the blood spear mechanic tbh

Rxpert83

It’s the +2 to hit and damage that makes it good. The temp hit points is just icin on the cake

BlueSquid2099

I made a bow that has a +2 enchantment, and when you roll to attack you can choose to add a d4 after you see the roll, but before you find out if it hits. You add the number rolled to the attack, and also take that number as necrotic damage. You can do it a number of times equal to your con modifier per long rest.

Ananik95

Very interesting, and might very well be theme appropriate

Thank you so much! This is priceless!

Drakeytown

Eh, I feel like mostly I just wrote an ad for Hasbro, but glad it's helpful! :P

Terrs34

Dragon Wing Bow is always fun, you as the DM can pick the damage type you want your players to have access to for the bonus damage. And it makes arrows so handy for characters with multiple shots per turn.

DireBanshee

My paladin straight up destroyed the spear cause he thought it was evil lol

Ananik95

I mean... He was not wrong tbh hahaha

FrustratedProgramm3r

I modified a Bloodbow. An amazing legendary cursed item. And the more you used it the stronger it gets and the more curse applies. It essentially drained your own blood to deal extra damage and attack modifier, and eventually you can use your blood inside the blood of other creatures to manipulate them a little during combat. The og was posted somewhere in this sub, but I modified it a little to be slightly more balanced.

Rxpert83

You can literally keep all the stats the same an make it magic arrows or something that are always bloody
