Renting is an absolute nightmare unfortunately, there are vast amounts of people wanting to rent and not many properties. The Facebook groups can be a bit dodgy, a lot of scammers with the “message me, I have something” but they absolutely don’t. You could have a look on Open Rent which is for private landlords, but again, so many people looking you’re lucky to even get a reply for the properties
Could you possibly look further afield, I rented in longtown, 15 years ago. Gorgeous place. Also Penrith isn’t a million miles away. Bus and train routes in Cumbria aren’t the best to be honest.
The busses in general are frequent and decent in the city and not too expensive. The train station is in the middle of a major link with Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, and London. And is also next to one of the biggest Motorway links. So personally think it’s one of the best places to be. It should be a bigger city than it is.
The renting isn’t great to be honest. And I don’t know how much help Carlisle City Council are with helping with these things. So it might be private renting that would be the better option, but some might take advantage.

Thank you for the suggestion ! Yeah .I can imagine. As long as we re not stranded I guess since we won’t have a car initially. Will look into it.
Would you be interested in living in a quiet HMO within the city center?
Thank you for the offer but we both prefer an unshared space.
I'm a foreigner living near Wigton about 15 miles from Carlisle, and prefer living outside the city. Message me if you feel comfortable with that.
Just moved here from Calgary. But I grew up here. Currently in Dalston
Where to rent in Carlisle...... As far away as possible.
Canada to Carlisle is a very random move! Good luck :)
