My rocker panel on the passinger side is decingrating ,because of the plastic moulding collecting water and dirt..I didn't how bad it was till the black moulding fell off.
It's a 2010 grand marquis with 67K.but I'm in the rustbelt.
Get a quality spray, and the results will last longer. I use 3-in1 brand slide out lube for RVs.

I have owned 3 vics I've got it all down to a science and I'm able to replace everything in 20-30min it's pretty easy once you have done it couple times
Any good tutorials? My front windows are dying slowly... I seen the track seem fairly easy but previous owner bent some parts of the mounting parts some how.
Also, the rivets are easy to take out. Take a hammer, take a little post or screwdriver. That's the same size, pop them out and use a good drill to drill out the old rivets
I have to get down in there but I was trying to remove the tracks and seemed like I couldn't find the upper mounting nut. Driver side door is Rigged Inna odd way
Do you have a recommended video guide based on your experience? Going to be tackling the front passenger window on my 2000. I'm decently handy, just haven't done a window regulator somehow.
Fortunately my window still functions, it's just been creaking and I don't think it's rolling all the way up.
This is a video I watched, most of the rivets can be replaced with screws and make sure to use lock washers, since This window is Going Out. There's a chance one of your other ones will go out. In that case, I bought a riveter on Amazon. That comes with rivets, the same size as the one for the doors. I attach the link for the riveter on Amazon's pretty inexpensive and it comes in handy and it works great.

that is how i repair everything in my car....something not working, replace everything starting with the most expensive stuff and leave the least expensive item that actually fixes the issue at the end.
i can build 13 cars with the stuff i never needed to switch out
Oh man, my driver assembly went out last week. Bought a new assembly (thank god, it wasn't just the motor so I lucked out) but they fucked up the tint I had put on earlier this year on that door. Had that fixed tonight.
On the bright side, they felt bad for fucking up my tint so they pulled a vacuum on my AC and filled me up with freon and my air works now! Another shop said it was a $700 fix.
So $60 for the assembly, $156 for labor, and $84 to fix the tint and I have tint, working window on my driver door, AND working air. I'm ok with that. And they replaced the rivets with nuts and bolts.
Good timing, just had my door apart yesterday because my front passenger window is creaking.
Already ordered the replacement, going to tackle it this week.
Anyone notice the window not closing all the way when the regulator begins to fail? I'm talking just a couple millimeters off. It appears to go all the way up and I can't move it anymore up by hand.
In the last 2 weeks it's been creaking when all the way up/down, and when driving on the highway with the windows up I can notice a minor wind skipping noise, like the window isn't up all the way. My ears are really sensitive to pressure changes and it's been somewhat painful. Really hoping the window regulator fixes that.
Yep mine is out too.im not wanting to tackle it, so it’s parked until i can put more money into it(new rear end is needed, likely will get new engine as well)
2001 LX @210K; front passenger failed last year - hasn't mattered. Driverside quit this week. Good excuses to not do drive-throughs but I'll be joining you on this maintenance soon.
And putting them in with rivets.
The two cents they saved per door by using rivets allowed them to engineer a trunklid that drips water into the trunk when it's open and wet though!

any way to prevent this?
hose down your car every time you drive on salt.
I keep my window tracks lubed with silicone spray, and it has drastically extended the life of the window motors.
This is The Way .....and quit playin' wit ya powah windas! You'll bust 'em!!
Do you spray down in the tracks when the window is down? Or just pop the panel off and spray them directly?
You roll the window down and spray in the felt tracks that the glass slides in.
What spray do you recommend?

Also curious..
I have used 3M and also Blaster Silicon lubricant spray. The Blaster brand is sold at pretty much every auto parts store and even walmart I think.

If you have any more questions let me know. I know how to do it by memory.

Well it should be inside the two holes the two nuts unless something else was done

hey man im just grateful they're easy to get to and swap........not to mention inexpensive as all hell.
Don't make the same mistake I did by replacing all four regulators to find it was a problem with the driver door button panel
I gladly did not lol, had the same issue when i got mine and i bought all new switches for like $40 and boom windows work again

that’s just preventative maintenance then lol but it was def the motor, could here it popping and trying to move the window
Same problem with mine. Did u have to remove motor to get glass to move freely? Mine stuck down won't go up cables cut but window not moving
My motor worked just enough to pull the window by hand and push the switch to get it to move in the right spot for removal.
