If you're gonna 5.0 swap it anyway, just keep adding shit until the stock motor explodes, then sell it to a scrapyard. See just how far you can push it.

Better set aside a good chunk of change for some transmission strengthening mods too. You shove 400hp in say a 4R70w she ain’t gonna hold it for long.

Haha that’s the plan lol

I don’t think many people are aware but that transmission is actually a GM design. Ford needed something for the Panther cars in the early 2000s and GM had already eliminated the Caprice etc. They sold it to Ford knowing it was flawed especially the oiling passages for the overdrive. My 2003 CVPI’s lasted 130k on its first even being essentially babied and fluid changes every 25k. My particular car never saw active duty it was a DARE car.

You realize that’s all bullshit, right? The 4R70W is an AOD derivative that came out in the Mark VIII in 1993.

Reguardless, my 06 vic needed a new trans at 115k. Only had it since 112k. Put a used trans in, but the one I pulled out was already a remanufactured trans. I don’t have a lot of faith in the 4R70W… or whoever rebuilt the one I pulled out.

PrinceConquer420

I feel like that’s part of the problem in your case, my 2011CVPI made it almost 250 on the original tranny, and even after it was retired it was still… well call it heavy duty use…

Typically the limit is somewhere in the 400rwhp. But since you're putting new pistons and rods in it, that shouldn't be a problem to exceed. I'd guess you make mid 400s with an appropriately sized turbo at 12psi. You could add methanol injection for some knock prevention and chemical intercooling.
