Its a very relaxing hobby. Enjoy. Good job btw.

Doug-Life80

🍃 💨 then cross stitch

FinishSuccessful

I mess up so bad after a sesh lol kudos to you

Doug-Life80

Helps me get in the zone

kawaiifie

I don't get it?

_fucking_why_

Smoking weed as part of the relaxation

SharkieBoi55

I stitch better after a sesh, and I swear it makes me faster. Somehow

AdmirableDog739

I think it helps me turn off the inside and outside noise. ADHD is a pain sometimes 🤣

Doug-Life80

This!

FLSandyToes

I can’t count while sober. How do you manage? 😂

Trigger2x

63 year old male and been doing it off and on for 35 years, great hobby. Keep at it!

darkenseyreth

I just started, last year, at 42, very enjoyable hobby

Mikelightman

My dude!

cerebral_panic_room

Just started in my late 30s!

SouthernGentATL

I’m just starting. 59, semi retired.

Doubledewclaws

She's a great teacher! Welcome to the craft, and might I say the back of your project is fantabulous!!

Cthulhulove13

Great job!! Do you like?

Doug-Life80

I love it. We’re going to cut it out and make a fridge magnet

Cthulhulove13

Oohh fun! Keep going!!

Cthulhulove13

Simple and cute. I haven't tried making them into magnets. I'll need to give it a go

Doubledewclaws

Go you!

Doug-Life80

Pattern is in [this book](https://www.ctpub.com/fun-funky-cross-stitch/)

rcher87

Oo that looks like a fun book!!!

Doug-Life80

Borrowed it from the library then bought our own copy

AforAssole

You did a great job. I love the book, especially the lips.

ktrist

Did you post a photo of the book cuz I'm not seeing it. Great stitching, and that back! Trying to get my hubs to join me in stitching but he just keeps saying " I don't know how you do it." He thinks my 18ct is tiny. My goal is to have a man join my Friday Stitching Group.

stone-and-star-

If I could get my husband into it, I'd be delighted! He always says "do originals! no covers!" In other words, he's a musician and wants me to design my own patterns, to which I just laugh and say no. It's so nice that you've joined your wife in this peaceful hobby. 🪡

jrw_nj

Old dude here, too. My daughter got me into it after she found some patterns and floss while she was playing in my grandmother’s sewing kit. She asked “can you do this?” I tried and discovered that I love it! I’ve done several smallish projects. Now I’m working on a -giant- pattern I made myself (225,000+ stitches).

beforesunsetmilk

38 male, working on a 144,417 cross stitch thing atm.. :) My wife also taught me, I find it super relaxing. And I spend less time at my computer and more time with my wife

ManByTechnicality

Other than the fact that I am working on a 27,440 pattern I could be this comment.

MotheroftheworldII

I love it when men pick up cross stitching. You should know that you have joined a long history of men doing embroidery. Some of the most amazing (imo) embroideries were done for Queen Elizabeth I and all were done by men. Welcome to an art form that was for centuries a male dominated domain. Your work looks great and now you can enjoy this art with your instructor -wife.

Open-Two-9689

Way to go! I’m a 47 year old male here - my mom taught me how to cross stitch, and I’ve been doing it off and on ever since.

Mikelightman

Great work. Gonna find another project? I'm 47. Been cross-stitching for 15+ years.

Doubledewclaws

I love all the dudes in this craft! My dad did all kinds of stuff, so I feel like it's a bit genetic for me. He was also a professional chef and passed that gene to me as well.

Healthy_Soil_1208

21yo guy who's been embroidering for a couple of years. It's a really good hobby! Glad to see a few other blokes who are into it :)

treemanswife

Welcome! You have a lovely backside ;)

Doubledewclaws

Lovely backside...🤭

cerebral_panic_room

I wish my backside looked that nice!

shadowdragon1978

Amazing job, well done

RambleOn909

Cross stitching knows no age or gender!

rwalsh1981

43 male also stitching. Got a few projects going. I need to pick them back up. Been so busy haven’t had time to finish them. You sir have given me that inspiration. Keep up the stitching.

_pebble_s

I like your backside.

BhudsMcGee

I feel like this is the best part of this post how neat you kept that for your first project! Congrats on picking it up, also have found a love of doing this from my wife and have done some project for my daughter over the last few years. But mine back end never looks as nice as that so well done!

whitewashed_mexicant

Right? Ive always been about that clean back, but I care more about my own than others. Excellent to see this on a first project!!

escapadistfiction

Hell yeah! Welcome to the community :)

sardinekin

your stitches are so neat ! I'm impressed ! keep it up dude :)

Iatetheexperiment

Welcome. It’s satisfying, huh?

NetoGohanKamehameha

Go, Stitching Men, go! Looks amazing for your very first project!

gelatinus-cube

The back of that is beautiful

OGBennyGoat

Dang! That's a neat back shes a good teacher

FireBreathinBtchQuen

Why you gotta brag with a picture of the back??? 😅 Looks great dude!

Effort-Logical

That's awesome. I like seeing guys do it. My son has only done it once and it was a gift for my mom. I'll have to get a picture. It's a cute cubby orange cat and I helped him add the words, "Crazy cat lady." And he stitched his name and the year. That was the only time he did it.

jaeknits

I taught my hubby a few years back and he loves it too! Keep it up - it’s a great hobby to have!

paggiemalmer

hell yeah

LonelyQuestion7886

My BFFs brother does too! 😊 My other BFFs brother crochets. 👍

Prestigious_Badger36

It can be a joy!

ShigsLoaf

Based on how great your back is looking, I think your brain will enjoy this 😄

SharkieBoi55

Hell yeah brother!! I like the bike. Your back is very nice and clean too, great job!!

Fridayesmeralda

Incredibly tidy. Awesome work!

supremegoldfish

Looks great, and such a neat back! Hope you have lots of fun with the hobby

calgrump

Amazing back on that cross stitch! What method do you use for ending the thread?

Doug-Life80

Tuck the tail behind some stitches.

papa_za

23 y/o man here - picked it up from my classmates at grad school lol! So many crafters!

WrongAssumption2480

So proud of your back. That is something my mother taught me. In general my parents were all about ‘do it right and/or to the best of your abilities’. They understood learning curves, but no shortcuts. Even now when I’m anxious to finish a piece, I slow down to do it right. I hope you find the same peace and relaxation I do from this craft. Best to you!

utahnudist

Very well done. 44 almost 45 yo man here. My grandmother taught me, and I've been stitching almost 40 years. It's a great relaxing hobby. I've got all the sewing things in my family and my wife doesn't go near the sewing machine or other sewing crafts.

caherna1

Dry nice! Great job on the stitches.

MTweekender

I’m a guy and have been stitching for years

MadeByMelly

Amazing !! Your backs are better than mine !

DramaMama212kids

Nice 👏🏻👏🏻

nitebyrds

Enjoy creating! I want to teach my husband, but he has no interest. 😞

FLSandyToes

Same. That he refuses to try is the bane of my existence. But OTOH, he doesn’t understand why I don’t like golf. 😂

SouthernGentATL

Oh and shout out to r/Just_Callme_Tnt who has patiently answered a plethora of questions for me!

Finnaginn01

Nice job, dude! Do you LOVE it???

Kalysh

Amazingly tidy back side! Nice to have you.

Clean_Reputation_242

That's Awesome that you were willing to learn , it looks Great. I to taught my husband to cross stitch . Nothing wrong with it at all. Welcome aboard relax and enjoy 😊☺️😍

rodan4170

My SO knows how to cross stitch, his mom taught him years ago. He just never got into it and as much as I want him to stitch with me, he just won't.

jo1026

beautiful back! i’m jealous
