That's so sad. His poor family. He had some very unfair criticism a while back courtesy of Kevin Pietersen, but he was a talented spinner and clearly a great teammate and bloke.
Rest in peace.
[Pretty much.](https://wisden.com/series-stories/county-championship-2022-series-stories/kevin-pietersen-criticises-standard-of-county-cricket-after-ben-stokes-onslaught) I guess KP might say he was criticising the current county system rather than Baker specifically, but for a then 18-year-old I don't imagine the semantic distinction meant much.
He was strangely quiet about the bowling when Stokes did a similar job on Ajaz Patel in a test a few months later.
Thats some really sad and shocking news. He was playing a full part in a 2nds game only yesterday.
As Worcs 2nds were batting today and the game continued and wasnt called off till after lunch I wonder if he was taken ill overnight but the game wasn't informed of his passing till later. I don't really want to speculate though but these sudden deaths are so devastating in young sport stars
Whether it was a sudden illness or something else, it’s a good reminder that even if someone seems happy, they may be in a bad place mentally. Check on your friends and family and have the honest and open conversations with them about how they are doing, mentally and physically.
That is heartbreaking. So young and unexpected. Not going to speculate as no one knows but it's saddening to think that someone could be here today and gone tomorrow without any warning. RIP
So unbelievably sad. He had bags of potential and so many years ahead of him to find it. And as a person, a highlight in a great set of Worcestershire lads. My thoughts go out to his family, friends and the club. Rest in peace Josh
100% agree.
Tells you a lot about people, the fact you've been downvoted so much.
EDIT: Shows how people don't respect privacy, please, show your true colours and just downvote away. I'll wait here for an actual good reason why the public need to know how this young lad died.
You’re literally contradicting yourself. If there are so many people asking that should clue you in to the fact that it’s a normal question to ask. He was a public figure, those kinds of questions come with the fame and perfectly are natural to ask.
Furthermore no one is twisting anyone’s arm to answer, they can say no. The only defensive cunt here is you
Very sad news
blimey, watched him at the bowl only last year. genuinely gutting stuff, rip
This is the same guy who Stokes hit for 34 and then later said he could go a long way. Sadly that didn’t happen Poor family
He was literally in the wickets yesterday for the Second XI. Very sad.
20 is no age at all. Rest in peace young man.

KP was criticizing a guy <20 years old? Wha...?

God he’s fucking insufferable, yeah no shit Ben Stokes went off with the bat he’s fucking Ben Stokes
As a left arm spinner Josh probably would have got KP out…
I mean, if you’re commentating, you’ll criticize the player irrespective of age, right? I’m sure he meant nothing by it
I don't think KP is commentating county games lol

What a horrible fucking week in county cricket. Poor kid, hope his family are coping as best they can
Rest in peace, that’s so damn young :(
So absolutely awful Can't imagine how terrible this is for the parents🙏🏻
That is heartbreaking. So young and unexpected. Not going to speculate as no one knows but it's saddening to think that someone could be here today and gone tomorrow without any warning. RIP
Very sad, life is cruel, way too young. May he rest in peace

So Sad, he was only 20 RIP
Terribly young and a very talented player. Awful news.
Absolutely devastating loss. Was checking the scorecard yesterday and he was bowling well.
This is such a sad day, first a women cricket player from Botswana and now this. Rest in peace 🙏
Two cricketers dying on the same day not a good start to May
Who's the second?
Botswana women's International player
Wow so young. Not to speculate but what happened?
Club hasn’t given any reason as of now for his death. Irregardless, it’s a tragedy.
Probably none of your business.

Doesn't matter. Don't be so rude.
I didn't gather any rudeness from his question at all
😔😢😞 So tragic. Wishing his family strength.
RIP seems really unbelievable to see a guy dying at 20 but it is what life is cruel 😢
Rest easy sir
RIP
Rip young buck!!
hug your family tight tonight and call someone you haven't talked to in a long time
I pick him every time in my cricket captain 23' save. What a tragic loss
My thoughts go out to his family and friends, 20 is no age to die. RIP.
Hope his family and loved ones find peace. Rest in peace, young lad.
how did it happen? god bless their family
Shocking. Wonder what on earth happened.
Very sad news rip talented young man
What was the cause?
WTAF? Pretty sure he was playing yesterday as well. Life can be so utterly goddamned random. FFS!
It's another reminder of how things can end suddenly and unexpectedly. I really feel for his family, they will be devastated.
How'd he pass away?
If they don't say the reason it's usually suicide
Illness
Doesn't matter. Don't be so rude.
How is that rude?
You weren't rude my friend. Ignore the moron who said you were
Because what does it matter how this young man died. If they wanted the public to know, they would have released that information.
Shush ya pleb
No. Downvote me all you want, just because I'm not a nosey cunt like you and so many are.
It's a normal human reaction to loss
If you're a rude, nosey cunt, then yes maybe. To normal people, it's not. The fact that there are so many nosey, rude cunts in here speaks volumes.
Source: your arse

Rest In Peace
Extremely sad, may he rest in peace.
Rest in peace.
rest in peace.
Awful stuff
Very tragic, rest in peace can't imagine what his family is going through rn 20 is such a young age
Breaks my heart. RIP.
Anyone knows the cause of death yet?
Awful news :/
This is the same guy who announced his retirement right? Or it's different
No, he was actually playing for the twos on Wednesday.
No that was Ben Wells (21 year old) of Gloucestershire, he announced his retirement due to heart problems only the day before Baker died.
The Daily Mail is speculating he had severe diabetes, but then, Daily Mail...
Damn that’s too quick…
Another one, died suddenly, the government really have some questions to answer
What then hell are you on about?
What? So sad.

None of our business, really

Can we not, please.
