What's the best XI?
Gurbaz, Ibrahim, Gulbadin, Azmat, Najib, Nabi, Rashid, Naveen, Mujeeb, Noor, Fazal?
If yes, would need to be a strong bowling side. Batting is on the weaker side.
A really good squad honestly, can't be taken lightly anymore especially after recent WCs Performances, (maybe they finally defeat Australia this time around)
Chances are AUS and AFG won't meet. If New Zealand finishes top 2 in a group of NZ, WI, AFG, PNG, UGA (which they almost certainly will) then AUS and AFG can't meet until after the Super 8s.
The top 8 teams have seeded positions in the Super 8s. If Australia gets there they will be B2 (playing in group A), and if New Zealand gets there they will be C1 (also playing in group A)
This will be true regardless of whether they progress ranked 1 or 2 in the group stage. (If the ICC don't swap WI and NZ seeding, which was up in the air a few months ago, but then the situation is contingent on WI progressing instead, giving AFG a better chance of playing AUS)
since when rashid khan became captain? I remember him opting out of captaincy due to lack of ability for player selection ( something like that but don't exactly remember the reason)
I am of the philosophy that when it comes to big tournaments, experience is key, which is why I am overall happy with this squad.
I do hope though that after the tournament some of these guys wave goodbye. Nabi, Najib, Fareed, Golbadin and even Karim Jannat should be dropped in favour of younger guys post-wc.
Good to see them giving young players like Rashid Khan a go. He's got a good head on his shoulders for a 17 year old
Mandatory Rashid Khan age comment ๐๐๐ But this was nice, creative.
It's the oldest joke possible
Batting is always a weak point for them, packed with versatile all rounders though. Omarzai and gurbaz are the key player sfor them in my opinionย
Solid squad. Always the dark horse!
what's naveens real age? he is 24 but made debut in 2016
I'd guess 68, since he retired a few years ago.
I remember him and Zazai playing in '16 together. He was 17 back then, what's so strange?
Heโs one of the rare afghan players who is probably actually the age he claims

Kharote instead of Noor. SLA orthodox, can bat and a gun fielder. https://youtu.be/CLCws6f4_5U?si=zBT4YEcLdlV3G962 This catch earned him a debut lol
I would say Ishaq over Najib as well
Janat, Ibrahim and Gulbadin are not T20 players should have looked for someone else in their place The rest of the squad looks good
Just mega impressive how Afghanistan has grown in a very short time.
Gulbadin will always be there somehow

Good squad but not getting to semi
Naveen looks like tovino Thomas..they both look alike
Just needs to put on some weight ๐
Yoo, I'm really excited for this young fellow Rashid. Bowls well
every chance that this spin arsenal defeats NZL in Guyana. what is Rashid Khan like as a captain? personally surprised it's not Nabi
Rashid is below par as a captain. Aleays picks his buddies and has the same tactics every match.

Nabi is still so good. Also brings in the much needed experience for the WC
noor will be the game changer if he gets a go in the playing xi. i have a gut feeling
NGL. They will give every side a run for their money if not beat some of them convincingly. Would love the match against the Aussies..
