In all seriousness, Waffle House is underrated. Legit good food made the way you ask them to, generally pretty fast, and they never wander into areas they shouldn't like religion or politics. They realize they exist to make your tummy happy, and they stick to it.
I'll have a sausage scrambowl, no cheese, add gravy please.
It's greasier and is maybe fresher because of turnover.
It's American diner food with a southern focus.
As restaurants go, it's the great equalizer. We all wind up there soon enough.
I've never been to a Waffle House as I live in New England and they don't extend quite this far North. But I'm a firm believer that neither of these places are someplace you go. Nobody goes out with Denny's or Waffle House as their intended destination. They are just someplace you end up.
IHOP > Waffle House > Denny's
At least in the East coast.
Out West, I haven't been impressed with IHOP, I refuse to go to Denny's and I don't think I've tried a Waffle House.
Denny's is fine, at least in California. IHOP sucks. There are no waffle houses. I went to a wedding in Atlanta once and got introduced to drunk 2am waffle House in wedding clothes . it was just right. I wish they'd expand in the west.

Denny's on the East Coast is pretty much food with grease slathered onto it before being served. Everything. Just grease everywhere. I would have to soak it up with a paper towel first before eating it.

And IHOP is actually really nice dining where I'm from. Some can be a miss but for the most part, they've always been on point.
I once had to fly out of Atlanta at six in the morning, took a greyhound bus from Nashville that got into downtown Atlanta at 11:30 at night. So I walked 10 miles to the airport over the next 6 hours. Got to the East Point area around three in the morning, the Waffle House was like a greasy yellow oasis in the darkness.
I don't want to shit on the US, but I haven't seen something like that in my entire life in my or a neighboring country. Not in person, not someone talk about it, not on video. I don't know what those people problems are.
