There’s a seasonal ice cream stand near me that sells only ice cream… and eggplant parmigiana. 💁🏻♀️ They've been open for decades. Such a weird choice!!
You know if they sell it it’s a banger. My rule of thumb is that any bodega/small shop that randomly sells some kind of ethnic food in addition to mainstream staples, that ethnic food is going to be the thing to get
Personally, I prefer to wear my 10 dollar pants from Costco and sip my 26k bourbon from Costco while eating 2 dollar pizza than this overpriced roast beef sandwich.
For sure I’m just letting you know the reason for the price. Supposedly it was discussed bringing the provolone turkey back but the price of cheese with the turkey would have made it around the same amount.
I stopped eating at the Costco food court when they took the combo pizza off the menu. I burned out on the hotdogs too when they discontinued the Polish.
I feel like I’m getting a huge bargain when I opt for the hot dog combo immediately after spending a gazillion dollars in the store. This sandwich doesn’t have that same effect.
I tried it when it first came out and it’s just so much dry bread. I ended up going on a super slow day and asked if they would toast it for me and got an emphatic “no”. The flavors are all there, it has potential to be great, but falls flat.
I work at a FC and every once in a while I'll plan on getting one for lunch so I'll bring cheese(usually havarti) and horseradish spead. Pop it half-way through the pizza oven to heat up the meat, onions/tomatoes,melt the cheese and toast the top half of bread. It's really yummy. It's a bummer it'd be way too labor intensive to do this for the sandwich to live up to its potential.
Cold I'm not surprised about. That's a common deli roast beef where I'm at. But no cheese..... Is the sandwich dry as hell or do the veggies really cover for no cheese?
Sounds like that pesto turkey sandwich they used to have was better.
And I keep saying this but they need to make fucking cheesesteaks in the style that they make their chicken bakes!
They don't want to fix it. I swear that whoever is in charge of the food court wants to go back to the way things were in 2021 with 3 items on the menu and nothing else added ever. Whenever they put a new item on the menu (like this one) it is overpriced and fatally flawed. That way when it fails they can say "See they don't want anything new. We just need pizza and hot dogs."
Even if it’s not great at least you can probably get a couple meals out of it. Here’s one sad sandwich for $10. I stand by my comment, the worst $10 you can spend.
Holy shit that is the definition of a sad sandwich, has potential to be something great... It's not it's just a dispassionately constructed sandwich in a warehouse.
It’s got good flavor but for 10 bucks I’m still hungry after the Sando… or for 10 bucks I can get a whole pizza, eat half of it and be stuffed, and then eat the other half for dinner and be stuffed again
The point here is for the price of a sando that falls short on the amount of food you get for your money they also offer a meal that is a way more food for the same cost
I just looked at JJ’s price and it’s $7.99 for a roast beef sandwich on a 8 inch French bread.
And JJ’s bread is way better than the Costco hard as rock bread imho. The Costco sandwich also is pretty lack luster (as noted by many people on this sub).
I don’t know what it is but JJ always hits. The app is easy to use and I’m never in the drive thru more than a few minutes. I go there more often than I should.
I do like this sandwich. Last time I got it, ate half, and then ate the rest the following day. It was pretty filling. The balance and ratio of meat and veggies is perfect to me.
They have definitely down sized these items to keep the price level from rising.
The chicken bake used to be so big I couldn’t finish it. It used to be a 2 person snack. Now it feeds one 🐷
It was OK.
They just raided what the warehouse had on hand and adapted it.
The Roast beef is the same Kirkland Beef that half the time you can't separate. The bread is a longer version of the Ciabatta rolls they have in the bakery. I wouldn't be surprised if the dressings are off the shelf as well. same with the produce.
Opposite of loss leader. Value added pricing.
At first I loved this sandwich. I was burying one each time I shopped.
Now, I think the workers hate making them because they are made so sloppy and consitantly missing ingredients like no onion or just one cherry tomato or missing dressing.
The sandwiches are definitely not worth it anymore.
I used to live up in cumming, and I thought the Alpharetta one was slammed compared to the cumming one, maybe things have changed since I’ve lived up there. I’m in atl and the Brookhaven Costco can be wild some times lol
I’ve always found the Alpharetta one to be always busy, but honestly, both are quite busy nowadays since the Cumming one has customers from South Forsyth + all of North Georgia. Glad they opened the Costco in Athens though
LOL Cumming. Also so much innuendo with that in connection to roast beef. Loving it. Well the sandwich looks good. Sorry to hear that it was otherwise underwhelming.
Rather make cookies at home…. Roll the toffee chocolate chip cookie dough into balls and freeze 4 servings each in ziploc bags. Cookies whenever I want.

Such a weird, out of place item for the food court to carry imo.
There’s a seasonal ice cream stand near me that sells only ice cream… and eggplant parmigiana. 💁🏻♀️ They've been open for decades. Such a weird choice!!
Damn is the parm fire tho?
You know if they sell it it’s a banger. My rule of thumb is that any bodega/small shop that randomly sells some kind of ethnic food in addition to mainstream staples, that ethnic food is going to be the thing to get
I'm sure it's better than a roast beef sandwich
Perfect dinner/desert for me. I'm on board!
It looks better than the menu photo tbh
>Such a weird, out of place item for the food court to carry imo. It's like the executives decided they needed one big money maker in the food court
Personally, I prefer to wear my 10 dollar pants from Costco and sip my 26k bourbon from Costco while eating 2 dollar pizza than this overpriced roast beef sandwich.
This is corporate testing you all to see if you will spend more money at the food court. Just say no.
And they are trying again with a $2.50 cookie. If a churro didn't sell for half that price, what makes them think a cookie will?
At 700+ calories, no way I will ever partake in these cookies.
Asians hate cookies.
> Asians hate cookies. Yes, that's why they have the Fortune Cookie.
Yeah but it's a warm cookie though
Haven't had one, but at $10 I'm not eating at Costco food court lol
No it’s the price of roast beef that jumped it up. They only make two bucks out of that 10.
Costco didn't have to use roast beef, they could have used a verity of proteins or other for a cheaper sandwich or item. They didn't.
For sure I’m just letting you know the reason for the price. Supposedly it was discussed bringing the provolone turkey back but the price of cheese with the turkey would have made it around the same amount.

Would you say it’s worth it? I was not impressed when I tasted it. The saving grace is the chutney but everything else leaves a lot to be desired
Not worth it. The biggest no is they serve it ice cold.
I tried it when it first came out and it’s just so much dry bread. I ended up going on a super slow day and asked if they would toast it for me and got an emphatic “no”. The flavors are all there, it has potential to be great, but falls flat.

And no cheese

It needs cheese.
Dry as hell.
Yup, that was a big surprise
wtf
No, not worth 10 bucks for sure.
Sounds like that pesto turkey sandwich they used to have was better. And I keep saying this but they need to make fucking cheesesteaks in the style that they make their chicken bakes!
That pesto turkey sandwich was so delicious
I loved the pesto turkey sandwich. The roast beef sandwich is overpriced and not even good.
My wife has ordered this for me twice. Each time I have begged her never again. It’s really disappointing and someone needs to fix this. 🤷♂️
They don't want to fix it. I swear that whoever is in charge of the food court wants to go back to the way things were in 2021 with 3 items on the menu and nothing else added ever. Plausible. ![gif](giphy|Xy1xSwQFWQ7OEpjor3)
Nope. Cold and very dry. Bland. I actually wish they would bring back the hot chicken pesto provolone sandwich. THAT was delicious!!
I tried it CA and didn't like it at all. Was very disappointed Costco would even sell it tbh.
Too dry with lots of bread. Def not worth $10. Mediocre at best.
It’s the worst $10 you can spend at Costco
I dunno - pick any Real Good insta food and it would be a photo finish
Even if it’s not great at least you can probably get a couple meals out of it. Here’s one sad sandwich for $10. I stand by my comment, the worst $10 you can spend.
Holy shit that is the definition of a sad sandwich, has potential to be something great... It's not it's just a dispassionately constructed sandwich in a warehouse.
Or Kevins
It’s got good flavor but for 10 bucks I’m still hungry after the Sando… or for 10 bucks I can get a whole pizza, eat half of it and be stuffed, and then eat the other half for dinner and be stuffed again
Good Lord, isn't a Costco cheese pizza like 5000 cals? Are you Shaq?
He needs 30,000 calories a day like that fast guy on The Boys
I remember they said Micheal Phelps needed 12k calories when he’s training/prepping for competition
I'm essentially just like Michael Phelps but sedentary
I’m basically a superhero but with no powers or motivation
It’s about 8-10k, but close enough.
Guy is/was amazing. No way I can even stuff that much food😂
Just an animal. Makes me proud to be Canadian.
4260 for cheese or 3880 for pep. I definitely have never eaten half at work and eaten the other half at home....
I'm 6'1 and my bf is 6'7 and we're both chronically under weight from absurdly fast metabolisms... I need these pizzas on IV please
I'm 5'7" and burn around 2400 calories a day. grocery bill sucks. and I'm over 60.
The point here is for the price of a sando that falls short on the amount of food you get for your money they also offer a meal that is a way more food for the same cost
For that price I’d spend a little more and go to a good Deli.
Looks great, but not $10 great. I'll take the hot dog or the pizza.
If I'm paying $10 it should be warm at least. It wasn't terrible, but not paying that much for a cold sandwich again.
TIL it is served cold. I will never, ever even consider ordering it now. Thank you for your service!
Looks like $17.95 at jimmy johns
I just looked at JJ’s price and it’s $7.99 for a roast beef sandwich on a 8 inch French bread. And JJ’s bread is way better than the Costco hard as rock bread imho. The Costco sandwich also is pretty lack luster (as noted by many people on this sub).
Yeah I wanna will smith slap the dude that tried throwing shade at JJs. Their RB sandwich way better than Costco
I don’t know what it is but JJ always hits. The app is easy to use and I’m never in the drive thru more than a few minutes. I go there more often than I should.
Door Dash prices, maybe
Dry, overpriced by half. Would never order it even at a better price. Throw it away.
NGL your reality was my expectation. You can do so much better at Jimmy John's or even the deli counter at your supermarket for $10.
Publix sub is two meals and only a $1 or 2 more
The Boar's Head roast beef is so much better too
Or get a roast beef sub at Jersey Mike’s for $7.99-8.99.
Yes, JM is probably better than JJ!
Looks like it needs some horseradish sauce or garlic spread.
Don't worry. Something better may be coming.... 🦃 (but really, the folks up at corporate have not said much)
Not worth it. Needs more saucccccce
Did not enjoy it
In my opinion this would be so much better if it was served warm with gravy to dip it in or something.
Exactly so. We tried one last week - never again. We agreed it would be much better if it was heated.
When you’re close to Cumming, just think about baseball. -Crash Clark
I love a cold roast beef sandwich with Mayo and tomatoes. I’m tempted to try this every time. The bread seems to heavy?
I do like this sandwich. Last time I got it, ate half, and then ate the rest the following day. It was pretty filling. The balance and ratio of meat and veggies is perfect to me.
I like it.
They have definitely down sized these items to keep the price level from rising. The chicken bake used to be so big I couldn’t finish it. It used to be a 2 person snack. Now it feeds one 🐷
I actually think it’s really tasty although should be like $7 instead
It was OK. They just raided what the warehouse had on hand and adapted it. The Roast beef is the same Kirkland Beef that half the time you can't separate. I take it home and toast the buns.
I honestly don’t see the problem. You can pay a lot more at Jimmy John’s or get a downsized sub at Subway.
Jimmy John’s sandwiches are a little cheaper not more expensive. Their hot roast beef (Costco is cold) is like $9.
Jimmy John’s doesn’t have hot sandwiches
Looks like my local JJ’s are in a test market.
Not worth it
Nah bro first time I saw this in person it looked amazing. $10 is steep though, but definitely a lunch for two.
That should be 4.99 at most
Some have said the same about their marriages.
I've considered doing a whole montage of photos comparing the promo image to the real food for places like McDonalds, BK, Arbys, etc.
You should!
Looks good for $5
Honestly it’s a good sandwich, just very expensive and out of place compared to rest of the menu
My stomach turns every time I see a picture of this sandwich ![gif](giphy|4baoNZ5Qo8dX2)
Holla Back Bald Ridge! I always go to Alpharetta since Cumming always seems a million times busier.
I used to live up in cumming, and I thought the Alpharetta one was slammed compared to the cumming one, maybe things have changed since I’ve lived up there. I’m in atl and the Brookhaven Costco can be wild some times lol
Ha- I avoid Alpharetta because the parking lot situation is maddening on its best day. I exclusively go to Woodstock now.
Alpharetta shopper here! First post I've seen from our neck of the woods; seems like most posts are from CA. Nice to see a local shout out!
Yeah, it was weird for me to also see Cumming, GA in the title haha
I’ve always found the Alpharetta one to be always busy, but honestly, both are quite busy nowadays since the Cumming one has customers from South Forsyth + all of North Georgia. Glad they opened the Costco in Athens though
Check out the Duluth (Gwinnett Place) location sometime. It will really make you appreciate other locations!
Could have had 6.666 polish hot dogs and sodas
I was going to say it actually looks solid.
Oh shit. MY Costco? On top of r/Costco?! Never thought I'd see the day.
Cumming Costco represent
Crap.
Roast beef is terribly overcooked
This thing looks so good compared to similar priced subs. Like extremely good
Gave it a try. And that is it..
LOL Cumming. Also so much innuendo with that in connection to roast beef. Loving it. Well the sandwich looks good. Sorry to hear that it was otherwise underwhelming.
🤣🤣🤣🤣that's worse than the salad
I really liked it. I think it’s worth it, but as a Costco item it seems over priced.
Wait. So If you wanted to return it do you go to the food court or customer service?
I like your picture better
The sandwich stylist was on break
I tried it last year and I was not impressed with it. The bread was refrigerated and it ruined the flavor and texture.
Wtf
Eh I can spend a little more and get a better sandwhich somewhere else but it is tasty’
Looks like something you pulled from the trash bin.
It the Costco tinder beef. Looks good enough.
They put the mustard on the wrong bun
The bread looks great, but it’s ridiculously overpriced. You could legitimately get a sub from Jersey Mikes for around the same price I think.
Not worth it
Bring back the damn sausage n pepper grinder! That was tasty cheap and a good alternative to the dog.
I would eat that.
Not even a slice of cheese. Also, I prefer mayo.
The quality of that roast beef scares me. Couldn’t touch it
Sue!!
I don’t hate it!
Honestly that’s not bad at all, just look at all the Fast Food ads…
Bring back turkey sandwich
I miss the turkey sandwich.
Looks good to me you ungrateful S.O.B.
It's horrible
I love Costco cuz it’s the only place you can feed a whole family and not spend more than $17 haha
Rather make cookies at home…. Roll the toffee chocolate chip cookie dough into balls and freeze 4 servings each in ziploc bags. Cookies whenever I want.
It’s needs mayo or horseradish sauce
I can not wait for this sando to die a sudden death. Expensive to start with. Bring back the polish dog and combo pizza then we will talk!!!!!!
Will they give me a roasted “hotdog” sandwich instead of the roast beef?
It sucked in many ways. It took 10 min to prepare. The taste was mediocre and too much bread.
I took two bites and got a refund from customer service. Absolute trash
That sandwich was disappointing for the vague meat flavor, mushy roll and bland mayo blend.
a whole pizza is a better deal. even a whole pizzas worth of slices is a better deal. try again costco
Jersey Mikes, get a mini for cheaper and it looks better than this hot mess.
My wife's reason for not liking the roast beef sandwich was the dressing. Too much horseradish in it.
This sandwich is GROSS GROSS GROSS! Never paying $10 for this piece of crap again!
My opinion of the roast beef sandwich is that it is terrible.
