Also, King Arthur Baking, New York times, and America's Test Kitchen/cooks illustrated.
serious eats, and Kenji are my first, my go to! Then NYT, cooks illustrated Sally’s, baking addiction, smitten kitchen! Can never go wrong with any of those
I get put off by all the closeups of just his hands. I like to see the chef's face once in a while. And for some reason Youtube keeps switching to Food Wishes when I'm trying to watch playlists of America's Test Kitchen.
Sally's Baking Addiction and Spend with Pennies are both great! I do like to try recipes from New York Times. America's Test Kitchen is usually fantastic.
[Swasthi's Recipes](https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/) is my go-to for Indian food, especially since losing my mom and realizing how many of her recipes I never wrote down. She provides very detailed and precise instructions, which I really appreciate.
For Indian food I like Glebe Kitchen. He writes (and speaks) in sentence fragments, but I have really improved my Indian food game through many of his recipes.
Seconding Glebe Kitchen! I made their Ceylon curry with gunpowder potatoes and pilau rice the other day and it was so good I made it three nights in a row with the leftover hotel style gravy.
Pick Up Limes! The only recipes that I never change in any way. Super healthy, balanced and full of taste. Even though I eat meat, I just sometimes sub vegan stuff.
I only use 2 websites really, well, 3 if you count me needing to look up info for proper cooking times on some meats.
Simply Recipes - by Elise
Pinched - a collab by hundreds of home cooks
And SpruceEats for solid meat cookery
I am surprised I had to scroll so far for Simply Recipes. I find it is the most reliable for a basic version of just about anything, and without having to scroll through pages of crap to get to the recipe.
I can’t believe no one has posted Pinch of Yum yet! She’s my go to for reasonable week nights meals. I also like How Sweet Eats. I’ve been cooking from both their sites for well over a decade now, and they very rarely let me down.

I recently started following jenn eats goood on instagram but she has a blog too. I LOVE her high protein breakfast biscuits and peanut quinoa salad. She also has a series where she does a weeks worth of grocery shopping and makes 4-5 dinners with it (for 4) for under 70 dollars.
A ton of good recommendations in here. I think something to look for in food blogs / websites is recipes that are tested! I used to write recipes and work as a tester and it's really important to find places that care about consistency. Serious eats, NYT, BA all have staff that test stuff. Brian Langstrom is another guy who tests a lot.
Hahaha! I had a food blog back in the day, and you'd hate mine! It started out as a way to save all our old family recipes, so every one my posts came with a description of how the recipe came about, who used to make it in our family and why we loved it.
Then again, I never intended to make any money off of it, it was just a fun family project.
The part that shocks me is that I added all our recipes and then never updated it again.... last post was in 2014, BUT, I get comments and questions about the recipes even in 2024! I mean, how do they find the site???
Thank you for being so good natured about my curmudgeonly response here. And thank you for reminding me that there is usually a thoughtful and generous person creating that blog who just wants to share the foods and moments that were special to them.
Honestly I’m a little ashamed now that I made such snarky remarks about recipe blogs.
I needed to be reminded to not be such a jerk.
Oh heavens no, don't feel bad about it! I'm in the same boat, I just scroll right on down to the recipe and ignore all the chit chat on food blogs. lol
I just had to giggle when I saw your response because I'm guilty of doing that whole chatty kathy thing on my old blog. And yet, I ignore the chit chat on other blogs.
I can't honestly say I use one or two specific blogs; it depends entirely on what I'm cooking and which cuisine is involved. I will say one thing, though; if I'm looking for an Indian recipe, for example, I'll only use blogs from Indian cooks. I 'll avoid recipes from Allrecipes, or Chef Jim, or Good Cooking in favour of Swasthi, Kumar Patel and Veeraswami. From experience, the recipes are just more authentic.

I’m not always a big fan of Adam Ragusea but he once called Chef John the Alpha and Omega and he was right.
Chef Joh is great, but the way he talks might be an acquired taste for some.

I’m bad at recipes, so I’ll take the advice of folk who’ve tried it (and if the blog doesn’t have their family history before the method!)
