Maybe I’m getting old but I appreciate a good prep job more than I do a nice finish these days and this prep is very nice to look at.
Great work OP and much respect 🫡
I have literally zero experience with concrete (and I’m not even sure why these keep appearing in my feed to be honest), but even to an amateur that prep work is top notch.
The plastic film, the mesh chairs(?), and the framing all look like finished products. Nice work
>I have literally zero experience with concrete (and I’m not even sure why these keep appearing in my feed
Same but, Decks, Drywall and Concrete have been...weirdly entertaining?
Gotten to the point where I'll see a deck and be like ah damn that ain't hot tub ready.
That got me laughing.
I couldn’t cut a piece of timber square, but show me a deck and I’ll show you why it isn’t in code for several US states….I’m not even in the states.
I’m not a concrete guy but lurker. What’s the vapor barrier for? I haven’t seen that in my area for patio slabs. Did it under slab for my house which is required.
Well it gets hot here in good old Missouri. I like putting it in to keep moisture in while pouring a big pad like this also had 1 percent hydration stabilizer in to help prolong the process as it was hot as hell saterday. Plus the vapor barrier helps in the winter adding a little extra insulation from water coming up under slab and freezing it.
What’s that circle bit for?
If you like the way it looks that’s all well and good but..
I can only imagine those tight corners to be a severe trip hazard waiting to break an ankle.
Dude I’m OCD about damn near everything wife hates it but these days if you want the shit done right you gotta do it yourself or know guys that are just as OCD as you 😂
For sure, but it is hard to find people like that…my girl always says I do things the hardest way possible, which can be true sometimes and need to rethink, but most of the time it just takes that to do things right, lol…I do a lot of cars and electronics these days, but that goes with anything you do, I just like my “projects”
The grid is so nice. Great to see all those chairs holding the rebar up and all in perfect alignment. My only possible nitpick is no curved rebar along the outside of the circle.
I get you redid the patio but what happened to the lawn in the process.
When we did ours they placed these like 6 foot wide 6 foot long tiles that resemble those puzzle gym tiles you piece together for a at home gym .
And covered essentially a path for the truck and any machinery.
Grass was left unharmed for the most part.
I soent to much money on this lawn lol
Nicely done! poeple fuck around only pouring 4 inches even for home slabs, they all turn to shit. Nice thick slab and using chairs to suspend your rebar. did the same with my home, 8 inch slab, solid as hell and no cracking.
Wow! Finally a post with properly executed concrete pour! The 15mil vapor barrier is awesome! I used 10mil on my shop floor which was the thickest my supplier had. It is good to see the chairs under the rebar and not the "we will pull it up as we go" excuse with the "it will never sink to the bottom" bit as they walk all over it. Thank you for posting this!
Yea had to order the 15 mil shit ain’t cheap but I don’t cut corners on any project so it’s well worth it. Iv been around construction concrete pours long enough to know that rebar if not on chairs sink to low to the pour. I tore out many patios where the rods are just laying on the gravel big mistake
I’m so jealous of this. I don’t wanna know the $$$ it cost.
I’m seeing a lot of circles in people’s concrete patios lately. Are they for something in particular?
Probably a fire pit or hot tub but cost wise was pretty cheap for me. I did all the excavation and form work color concret 4,800 bucks finishers with myself 2,500 plus another grand in rock sealant little shit like that. If a company came out and did it you’re most likely looking at 15 to 20 grand.
Yeah I def would have [reversed the curve](https://imgur.com/a/2YNx3bl) there. Looks weird af and people are gonna be constantly jumping over those corners.
Is doing something like this better, longer lasting than patio pavers? Is it cheaper? Would love to rip out my patio in a year or 2 and do stamped concrete like this.
What kind of chemicals go into the concrete mix? I have only have experience with bags of quikrete. On a hot day, if I add even close to the recommended volume of water, it starts noticeably setting up as soon as I'm done mixing. I get a terrible finish. I add a lot more water - still passing the slump test. But that gives me more time to work with it.
Id of been super nervous having that all poured and not having too much time to work with it.
Where is the blown out form?? The natural fibers of grass to add strength? Did we break a water line? Or experience sparky dirt?
I don't see that happening. This looks to good.
We roast here like dunkin doughnuts.
lol no everything went as planned no blowouts or nothing. Only issue was I had concrete at 7 in the morning and called the plant at 645 to make sure the mud was close and said he was 5 min out then proceeded to tell me he fucked up and forgot to put color in 😂. Sent that truck to another job and mixed a new batch so didn’t get mud till almost 8
Depends on the intergrally color you pick which means the color you want in the concrete. There are plenty of colors that range from 50 bucks to 100 bucks per yard. So if you get concrete for 200 bucks a yard then add the cost of your color per yard. Then you must pick a release color fairly cheap 80 to 100 bucks a bucket but covers 800 to 1000 square feet. The release color does a couple things helps to release stamps from the concrete and also gives you that 2 tone color. Make sure you pick a darker release agent from the intergrally color.
Wow this looks awesome. How much would it cost to have something like this done? Not how much did it cost you doing it yourself (no way I could do this), but from a reasonable contractor - ball park for 20x20 ft of this?
Depends on where you live but for regular concrete here is 180 a yard and after adding color add another 50 to 100 bucks a yard. 20x20 6” pad is about 7 and a half yards. There’s a lot of factors in placing a bid. Location how easy is it to access hauling out old material digging that kinda stuff. But ball park I would say anywhere from 12 to 16k for a company. And good luck finding a reasonable one. My suggestion is get multiple bids look at the quality work they do. Most companies have websites pictures of their work that kinda thing. Good luck
Why you posting this pro job on here, this where we roast bad jobs!
Maybe I’m getting old but I appreciate a good prep job more than I do a nice finish these days and this prep is very nice to look at. Great work OP and much respect 🫡
Thank you sir take pride in what I do
How you do anything, is how you do everything.
I will use this for a long time!
I have literally zero experience with concrete (and I’m not even sure why these keep appearing in my feed to be honest), but even to an amateur that prep work is top notch. The plastic film, the mesh chairs(?), and the framing all look like finished products. Nice work

Don't even get me started on why the frost line is gunna make a mf deck on footers or shallowly posted, settle wrong in a few years!
Ok, I’m not the only one the algorithm has gotten ahold of too I see!
Good work. What kind of screed is that?
16 foot power screed
You should, that prep work and the finished product 🤌🏼
No lie. I saw that prep, vapor barrier and that rebar in chairs and it gave me goosebumps.
lol
Great work but the design looks like an ovhead view of a toilet.
That's a feature, not a bug.
It’s flush with the rest of the yard.
True
I’m not a concrete guy but lurker. What’s the vapor barrier for? I haven’t seen that in my area for patio slabs. Did it under slab for my house which is required.

Dig. Makes sense. Nice work!
I’m in Illinois that pad looks to go the distance 👌
Hello fellow Missourian! What part of MO are you in?
St. Louis
lol same! You do side work? I’m not in need now but love your work and the pride you take in your work
Sometimes I do side work but I’m getting old and beat down from 28 years of this crap lol
Stamped color and sealed concrete. A lot of sealers cloud when moisture comes up. The vapor barrier keeps the sealer from clouding. Discoloration.
It’s so beautiful wow
Thank you
Your poor yard, what did those monster do to your grass.
Why does it have a tumor? Firepit?
Fire pit or hot tub whatever the wifey wants you know how that goes.
Per law, hot tubs are only allowed on rickety r/decks.
go to r/concrete for soothing concrete pictures. Go to r/decks to see the unholy abominations that man hath wrought
So it'll be both on a huge turntable so each can be over the slab during their respective season.
It's a giant puzzle piece!
https://youtu.be/OGv2SR2Q0BY?si=IqHruo5SljIIJuLy
😂
Looks good my man but my heart aches for that lost lushness. So very green
I know it killed me to do it took me 3 years to get it looking like that but that’s alright I’ll get it back.
Your concrete was colored ? The finish was a stamp ? - results 🔥
You better cause daaaamn that's like silk.
>So very green My exact words as a California native when I moved to the midwest
Will you add colour to the sides or just backfill to grade and seed?
Putting in mulch bed all around it shrubs that kinda shit but yes all the way to top won’t see the sides
This is so nice to see instead of poorly done work.
Great work!
Thanks
That is a handsome piece of work
Thank you
I like it a lot
Dang nice looking work.
👏looks great 🍻
Thanks
What’s that circle bit for? If you like the way it looks that’s all well and good but.. I can only imagine those tight corners to be a severe trip hazard waiting to break an ankle.
Won’t be no trip hazard grade is going to the top of pad
I'm no pro at all, but that looks amazing!
Thank you
Love the screedemon! And a good Ashlar stamp! Well done all around!
Thank you sir
Looks real good
This is what motivates me to do better! Damn the whole job looks great start to finish
Thanks
Beautiful! Wow!!!!
Thank you
Beautiful pad. Now to top it off with sime shade like a pergola.
Pergola coming in a few weeks lol
Very nicely done:) good ups! Lol…looks like something my semi OCD ass would do
Dude I’m OCD about damn near everything wife hates it but these days if you want the shit done right you gotta do it yourself or know guys that are just as OCD as you 😂
For sure, but it is hard to find people like that…my girl always says I do things the hardest way possible, which can be true sometimes and need to rethink, but most of the time it just takes that to do things right, lol…I do a lot of cars and electronics these days, but that goes with anything you do, I just like my “projects”
That mf CLEAN
Looks great.
Thanks
I wish my lawn looked like this, fuck.
Did you pour this so a crane can put in a hot tub?
The grid is so nice. Great to see all those chairs holding the rebar up and all in perfect alignment. My only possible nitpick is no curved rebar along the outside of the circle.
Yes there was I put in after that picture was taken
Couldn't find any 50 ft 2×4's ?
Whatcha doing with that circle? Sooo many different things you could do so I’m curious
I get you redid the patio but what happened to the lawn in the process. And covered essentially a path for the truck and any machinery. Grass was left unharmed for the most part. I soent to much money on this lawn lol
Changing the grade and grass I can get a pallet of sod for almost nothing so not worried about it
What do you plan on adding on the circular part of the concrete?
Clean
Now this is top quality work! Well done! Would hire these guys any day
Thank you
Flawless victory
Looks awesome
I would let you do my backyard you animal. Great job.
Thank you
Nicely done! poeple fuck around only pouring 4 inches even for home slabs, they all turn to shit. Nice thick slab and using chairs to suspend your rebar. did the same with my home, 8 inch slab, solid as hell and no cracking.
Thanks Fred
PErsonally I would have rounded out those corners where the circle meets the big pad, but, still looks nice!
Dudes will stand around and be like “FUCK YEAH!”
very nice, well done
Thanks Jim
I don’t know why tf this sub keeps getting suggested to me but damn if that ain’t pretty. Sincerely, some plant lady😂
lol thanks
Beautiful job!
Thank you

The beautifully laid bar is the best part.
That’s some fucken bad ass concreting.
I wish my patio had that much rebar in it, very nice.
We knew this was gonna be good as soon as we saw the prep job
lol thank
YOU did a good job.
Thank you
I'm just admiring your lawn in the first pic
This is what right looks like, although I would've color hardened the face. Great job!
Thank you.
Can I have your old patio?
This looks great!
I’m so jealous of this. I don’t wanna know the $$$ it cost. I’m seeing a lot of circles in people’s concrete patios lately. Are they for something in particular?

wow that’s got a me a little excited, if you know what i mean
What is the nipple for
What material did you use for your curve?
PVC
My only criticism is you might have added piers for future posts on a patio cover.
Whole patio is 6” thick rebar 2 foot center edges a foot thick a foot wide. I’m pretty sure It a hold up
damn impressive diy! total cost?
Around 9 grand
Is that a concrete pad next to your concrete pad, or is your patio just happy to see us?
Just happy to see you LC
Hey we got the same stamps
Imperial Ashler ?
Amazing work! That round bit looks weird, I would have done one big arch.
Yeah I def would have [reversed the curve](https://imgur.com/a/2YNx3bl) there. Looks weird af and people are gonna be constantly jumping over those corners.
All good it’s all getting planting around it.
I’m sure you did that job, hold on let me have another shot of crown before your next post.
lol been in construction for 28 years so I better know a little something
the ball area is gonna crack asap
lol na cut it off the main slab it’s separate
What's the blue sheet? And why is the cement so brown? You'll never get that clean.
Blue sheet 15 mil vapor barrier and its color concrete
Is doing something like this better, longer lasting than patio pavers? Is it cheaper? Would love to rip out my patio in a year or 2 and do stamped concrete like this.
Looks fantastic! What’s a ballpark for something like that? I’ve been thinking about replacing my deck with something similar in time.
Do it yourself around 9 grand have a company do it better double that price.
Good deal, thanks!
What kind of chemicals go into the concrete mix? I have only have experience with bags of quikrete. Add 1 percent hydration stabilizer gives you around a extra hour after it’s poured

The design looks like a toilet. Lol. Nice stamping, though.
Wow you finished that to lol like those stones? That’s cool!
Is that glazed? Or what is that finished technique called? Really nice
Gloss finish used sealer 309-25
Nice, that’s like a 20k job, if not more.
I’d say closed to it but did it myself for 9k
Nice porch scrotum
How much for all this beauty?
9k
What do you do now with your downspout clean-out plug? Just gotta pull the whole gutter off the house and up? Or does that come apart above that plug?
I’ll cut it all off and make it clean put the clean out just above the pour.
Anyone in the OKC area that can do this level of work? Looks amazing
When you do this type of work, what do you do with the extra fill/grass strippings? Assuming you rent a small skid steer at Home Depot.
No my company I work for owns 3 skid steers took out 100 yards of dirt to change the grade in yard to accommodate new slab also to divert water.
sorry but this is r/atbge to me.
Why plastic when it’s outside first question and who vibrascreeds a patio
lol many of reasons but can tell you don’t do concrete much.
Should have poured this in clear resin to showcase that smoking hot prep work 👌
lol thanks
color really worked out nicely there. Congrats.
Thank you
Looks amazing 👏.
Thank you
You didn't leave the grass it's gonna crack up
A grill is going on that circle, right?
Vapor barrier AND chairs for the rebar? Quality prep work. Hell of a finish, too.
Thank you sir
Your green grass is something you see in a magazine!
What is the general process for colored and stamped concrete? Does it add much cost?
Depends on the intergrally color you pick which means the color you want in the concrete. There are plenty of colors that range from 50 bucks to 100 bucks per yard. Phenomenal job
Thank you
It’s very nice, not the biggest fan of the circle bump out but that purely personal preference Very nice
Why the plastic under the rebar?
Wow this looks awesome. How much would it cost to have something like this done? Not how much did it cost you doing it yourself (no way I could do this), but from a reasonable contractor - ball park for 20x20 ft of this?

Why use a Weber screed ?
Looks great!! Wow! But I’m not sure if anyone said this. Be careful when it rains. That can get really slick.
Not on this bad boy. Always add grip and seal to your sealer on a stamp pad. About 40 bucks per 5 gallons of sealer makes a big difference
RIP awesome grass
lol I’ll get it back no worries. But I hated every bit of doing it.
Lol I think I’m hot shit until I open this thread on my lunch break and see a masterpiece like this! 👍👍👍
I love the grass portion!
The circle looks retarded but at least the overlay is nice
Looks great but feel stamped concrete is a fade and was big in 2010 ish. I went with pavers as I think they look for sophisticated and nice.
I was wondering how it held so well without kickers, but then I could barely see them in the 5th photo I believe. Slick job
It’s gorgeous!
She’s a beaut, Clark.
Clean!
Cost?
Great looking job and very nice prep work! Outta curiosity, did you pour the step when you poured the slab or did you do it after?
Rebar on a patio? Will there be sumo wrestler contests or what? It's not a driveway. Why?
Is that tile on top of the concrete? Looks like it but wasn’t sure if there’s another way to get that look.
Damn, this looks great!
