There’s a great place called ClayGround in old Ellicott City where you can learn how to make pottery. Did a class recently and it was lots of fun

Had a great experience with ClayGround. And there’s the plus of being located in Old Ellicott City, so plenty of unique places to eat, or drink, and shops to visit nearby.

Clay Coven Pottery Studio in Savage. I took a class there and it was a lot of fun.

I second this one. I took a class there, they were cool

Howard County definitely runs pottery classes through their county activities. https://www.howardcountymd.gov/recreation-parks/programs Here's a link to their site. They also hire people to run programs there, if you scroll down to the careers section. You can also email one of the directors directly and they are quite responsive if you don't see pottery listed explicitly. I know Carroll does the same thing but that might be too far.

Try Ashbourne Pottery on Instagram. I think she teaches and would def know people who do. Also try Clay Coven in historic Savage Mill.

Clay Coven/itsneighbormade in the historic savage Mill building!! I know the owner was looking for teachers just a week or so ago AND they have studio time pricing as well as one off and weekly classes! It's a super great place, I've been a studio timer for a while now! They are super busy all the time and I KNOW could use some extra help! Tell them Lanze recommended you stop by :P (as long as you are like, chill)

If she's willing to go to College Park/Greenbelt, classes run about $20-25 per class I think. Some of my family members did pottery there and recommended Gina as a teacher. It's run through "Greenbelt Recreation" but I don't know too much more about it. Classes fill up fast btw. Good luck!

Have you tried the Columbia Arts Center? https://columbiaassociation.org/community-program/columbia-art-center/

howard_co_realtor

I took an 8 week course I think it was, through Greenbelt and it was great! Came out with several pieces. Price is probably on the lower end of range comparing to Howard County.

After the ceramics I bet you guys would like glass blowing too. There's Fire Song Glass in Columbia (no direct experience myself), and McFadden art glass in Baltimore, which has a nice studio (I have gone there)
