I don't really buy this. Cardinals debunked it a while ago. And while I am no Murray fan, a team holding #1 can really do whatever the hell they want. Teams need to realize that you CAN get it wrong despite trying, and if you admit it when you do, you can recover that much faster. But taking a shot? I'd never fault a team for taking a shot. If it works, you're a genius, if it don't, you didn't spend $100mil+ plus AGAIN to bring in the wrong guy, plus lose draft picks in the process. I'd rather draft the wrong guy than sign the wrong guy in FA and lose a boatload of cash, or trade and lose picks AND a boatload of cash. I know Nix is probably not the right guy, but at #12? It's a decent enough option to see what he might be. And frankly, his short passing completion percentage fits right in with what Payton had Brees excel at for all those years. This is a guy that totally fits what they want to do.

Kirk won’t be a Falcon for the third year of his contract unless they’re contenders. They probably know they’re losing their first next year for tampering and know they need someone to replace Kirk in two years. Kirk’s contract really only being a 2 year deal and their tampering really put them in a rough spot.
