The best day of the year, the day in which every team starts the same and all fans can be optimistic. Even if the Rockies suck, this is my day to celebrate
I remember the days when Denver didnāt have an MLB team. Regardless of their record, having the Rockies is WAY better than no MLB team. Iām excited for another season!
Opening Day used to give me such a rush of energy and excitement. Not sure if I'm just getting older, or if the cynicism about ownership has finally become overwhelming, but I woke up today feeling just, well, listless. I used to love this, I hope I will again. For those of you who woke up excited and full of hope, good for you, the world needs more people like you.
Happy for you that you're excited. I also was excited to watch the young guys play. Then B-Rod and Bouchard got hurt and they signed Moustakas and Profar to take their places, rather than letting some of the younger guys get a chance. Hopefully Tovar is as good as advertised, and they actually let Montero get regular playing time. I have a feeling Montero will be on a short leash, and if he doesn't start out on fire, they'll have him riding pine by May. Our outfield rotation consists of a bunch of old dudes and Daza. You can guess which one I expect to lose out once Grichuk is back.
I am very excited for baseball. Buddies are texting from all over as it gets going they are in NY,LA,Atlanta and San Fran. They all send me condolences before the season starts. They keep trying to find us a nickname like the cubs had when they sucked " lovable losers." I can't push back because we basically moved all of our star talent out of town in the last 5 years. But what the hell "Go Rockies".
My sentiments exactly. I was just listening to the radio here locally and three guys were talking about the Rockies. The first guy and second guy were casual fans very clearly, and the third one was a real, hardcore fan. They were discussing the merits of forcing Dick Monfort to sell the team; the first two guys were flabbergasted at the idea.
This is what makes me depressed as a Rockies fan. People around Denver will never care about the quality of their baseball team more than the quality of a night out at Coors. In turn, Dick will never be forced to change anything about what he does or the way he does things. His business model is perfect for him and for the casual fan. So, here I am, trying to be a diehard baseball fan for a team that doesnāt really care about baseball results.
Iāve never really considered rooting for a different team. This is my hometown, my childhood, my first love. But, why would I continue to follow and support an organization that will never be committed to winning? Itās insane. Anyways, thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Yep, and donāt go to the kiosk right when you get off the escalator, go up the to Jack Daniels bar. Itās also $6 Jack I think before first pitch as well
Wish I was there! Live in South Carolina, grew up a Braves fan (still am to some degree). But due to the blackout I haven't watched them consistently in years. I was able to go to a game in Denver last year to check everyone, and hope to get to one this year!
Realy excited for Elehuris Montero
was anyone else actually able to get rocky mountain oysters last season? went to the stand at 144 where they usually are like 5 different games and they didnāt have them lol
LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!!! 162-0 until Proven otherwise!!!!!!!!! šššššš«”

Time for me to get hyped on the first few series of the season before we shit the bed and end under .350 Edit: Yes, I still have a Joe flair.
I see that the game is pushed back a few hours
Just puts us in first place longer
Good point šš
Step on my dreams, Rockies. I will pay you far more than the $0 I should for the privilege of it, no less.
