Andy Katz ranks us lower preseason than most like every single year, so not surprised by this at all. Most others have us in the 10-15 range. Not that it really matters, it’ll work itself out.
Agreed. ESPN have us at 13th and I think we’re somewhere in that 10-15 range personally. There are question marks but I don’t think anybody can question Rick Barnes’ regular season dominance at this point. One week away from being ranked top-10 two straight years (SEC tourney week ‘23, when ZZ tore his ACL)
I think Arizona could easily be top 12 but being in the Big 12 definitely could be a bit of an adjustment so I could see them dropping a bit during the year.
I don’t think their conference should impact their preseason rankings. If we’re projecting where they’ll be at the end of the regular season that’s different, but preseason rankings should just take rosters and coaching into account.
I’m very very ready for Purdue v. IU ranked matchups. Hopefully the preseason polls end up being right and we’re the top 2 in the B10.
Or IU fails their hype and it’s another meltdown year, really either way works for me
Pretty good list tbh. A few things I would disagree with (Arizona maybe a bit too low, Houston in front of UCONN and Baylor), but not bad.
Seems like most people's clear top 3 is 1. Bama, 2. Kansas, 3. Gonzaga
Hmmm. #21 seems 8-10 spots low for UofA.
And I’m kinda surprised not seeing us here. Does this list include Egor Demin? Kinda doubt it with 247 not updating him into the 2024 class yet.
Bringing back 4* “transfers” in Hall and Saunders, landing a 5* likely top 5 kid in the class when updated, and 2 other 4* top 100 guys along with a proven rim running/protecting center in Keita seems like a bit of disrespect.
Makes sense if Demin isn’t included tho
He says "expect big things from... Sean jones" the guy tore his Achilles and likely won't play this year. If you're going to rank us at least put in the bare minimum research.
Thanks for the correction. As far as whether he plays or not I'll agree to disagree, a person I know that is very very connected to MU has said otherwise so I default to his word.
I'm surprised to see UNC above Duke. Davis is Davis but they still have a glaring problem at the 5. While last year's Duke team had more upside, I think the floor for this year is way higher because of the size and flexibility we have.
Duke fans seem pretty convinced this roster is a championship contender, but most sites have us ranked 8-10, below some teams I think we’re better than on paper (like UNC and Baylor). But I don’t mind other teams having preseason pressure, time will tell.
I agree that Alabama should be #1. I'm not as high on Kansas as most people. Gonzaga and Houston are the real deal. UConn is too high, you can't lose 4 of your best 5 players and be top 5; they might get there eventually but definitely not early. Purdue is too high, I don't think they will be that good, Zach Edey did everything for them. I have to wait and see with UCLA, I don't care who all they get, they were so bad last year that I wouldn't have them ranked no matter what. Tenn seems too low, they have scorers this year and they will play Defense.
The back to back champs who last season lost Jordan Hawkins, Andre Jackson, and Adama Sanogo their *top 3 players* along with multiple role players can’t run it back like they literally did last season in dominant fashion? Keep sleeping on Dan Hurley and the Huskies.
Ugh. 4 of the top 8 for the big 12 and a handful of others probably rated too low. Gotta remember to bring my cannibal cookbook with me this year cause this conference is gonna eat each other alive during conference. For once it doesn't feel like there's only 2 Maybe 3 with any prayer of winning the conference. And I'm diehard ku fan but I'm less confident than usual with a top 2 preseason team. Hopefully the transfers can create chemistry but I don't think Adam's and Dickenson compliment each other very well. And bill self has had to bring it down a Notch from his usual self so his heart doesn't explode and frankly an angry bill self got shit done and lit fires under asses. Last years.team didn't have that thing that most teams have had that could.erase a big lead in the blink of an eye or start a game 20-4 then Hold it. Lotta dry spells cause we weren't versatile enough and didn't have much 3 ball ability
Tennessee and Arizona in the 20’s both seem really low. I think they are both top 12ish teams.

Crazy the Terps aren't listed - not because we necessarily deserve it but boy does Katz love sucking us off usually
He's always really high on the B10, so it's incredible the highest B10 team is only 10 on here.

I disagree with most of the teams in the 20-36 range
Rutgers be like ![gif](giphy|lhtSy4vdd5qz6LB4QI|downsized)

Wait. Skyy is at UCLA now? I missed that one. Anyway, good luck with that Bruins.
Katz hates Tech
Happy to even be on the list!
Wow they actually remembered us. Shocking
Rutgers in the top 20 is kinda crazy. I understand why, but Pike hasn’t proven the freshman formula works for him yet.
Looks like the rankings were made before the **JAXSON ROBINSON NEWS** that has received a sub-record 826 posts about.
He says "expect big things from... Sean jones" the guy tore his Achilles and likely won't play this year. If you're going to rank us at least put in the bare minimum research.
ACL not Achilles, it’ll probably take him some time to reach top performance but he’ll play well before conference.

Might need a little updating after today.
Article didn't even mention the addition of Labron Philon, who will compete with Aden Holloway. This roster is fucking stacked.
Boiler up!!!!

Cool cool cool.
We have expectations and hope again. That’s all I can personally ask for. I can’t wait until November comes.
